    If you place the Steering to the Left against the Stop, you can tighten at Collapsed length and will not have to do all the Measuring.

      I try. Some of these things, when you try to put them back together, aren't all that intuitive.

      great video! Im having an issue with the way the parts go back on the drivers side for the stabilizer bar and the leaf springs. There are four pieces total. The one in which the stabilizer bar connects, the spring plate and the other 2 I have no clue. Can you help?

      Well, that's the trick isn't it? For most of my videos, I go through and complete the task, learn and then go back and do it again while filming. That way, I guide you through the process quicker and advise you on the mistakes not to make. Truly a labor of love.

    Hey pal good stuff as always. I am about to restore the front end of my 85 Renegade. Your parts list was very helpful. I am wondering what kind of adjustments did you have to make once you got the wheels on the chassis rolling? Anything you would have done different in the video to limit any adjustments you made once completed? Thanks again!

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nothing really comes to mind. First it's AMC so you know that nothing is square or precise. You will just have to accept frame or body lean. Mine is 1" to the driver side. the one thing I wish I had done, was keep the axle shims that AMC put in between the axle tube and the leaf perch. They are little metal slabs, about 3/4" thick with a hole drilled in the middle. I sold mine and wish I had them back. The other thing I might have paid more attention to is making sure the Steering Gear box is at the center point of it's rotation. It makes it a lot easier to get your steering column and steering wheel centered when installed.

    Cotter pins are bent wrong. Only being the long side, leave the other straight

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pawarther1 interesting. Is there a reason for that? Most of the cotter pins that I’ve come across on other cars are both bent. Especially with the crown nuts.

    Did you ever post the parts you ordered? I need to do this to my 79 cj7, but I want to make sure I get everything I need.
    Also, mine doesn't currently have the damper mount over the leaf spring. Was that mount something you were able to order?
    Thanks for all your videos.

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to help. If you look in the description of the video, I have most of the parts listed and links to where I go them. The damper mount was original so I restored the part that I had. I believe you can get a damper mount with the damper. Just depends on which one you get. But if that doesn't work, reach out to Ray Moulton at Deadjeep.com. He has everything and is awesome with information.

      @@coolguy_CJ7 Thanks again. I didn't notice the description before, but I found it now. Thanks for the reference also, I'll reach out to your contact, hopefully he can tell me where to find that mount. All the ones I've seen online are an aftermarket setup. I took that off of mine because it kept running into the diff. Again, thank you for the videos. They are super helpful.

      @@roedere that should be the piece that I talk about at 9:58. The steering damper, the tie rod tube, tie rod ends, the drag link, and the drag link adjuster are all new. The support for the damper is the only part of that piece that is OEM.
