    "Man I really want to play drums again." Finds this video, returns to hole in the ground.
    This is insane.

    I was not prepared for how clean those left handed blasts were. Holy crap.

      And leads with both of his feet when he blasts too! AND It's insanely tight.

    • @johnmkmu
      @johnmkmu 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +James Lyon -- amazing. they are cleaner than the rightey's. he is obviously left handed naturally (and footed it would seem) - but appears to be almost completely ambidextrous.

    • @TheRealFoxeR
      @TheRealFoxeR 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      john meredith Nope. He's right handed.

    • @johnmkmu
      @johnmkmu 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Yeon Ji Sung Ja!! , as i watched more videos i found out he claims that he is a natural right-y!!! well i guess it doesn't matter at this point. i've never seen a more ambidextrous drummer

    Holy shit this is so much better than matt halpern's redition of this. I've never really been a fan of periphery but damn this song is so amazing, I guess I should look into some of their older stuff. This was so tight, amazing stuff Travis, You continue to inspire so many people like me. When I watch your videos I don't think, "welp, I quit, you're so good" cause why would I quit when I have you to TRY to surpass. Even though I know I probably won't, I can still try and consequently get better in the process. Looking forward to some new videos!

  • @TheDPK808
    @TheDPK808 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Brutal. And efficient. So blown away on these cover videos. Live drumming (at shows) is fun and all that, but nailing things as close to perfection as possible and getting the tones all balanced properly and not sounding all flabby or overproduced in a studio setting is the real gem to your playing.

  • @OwenMcKinley
    @OwenMcKinley 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Didn't catch this my first couple of times viewing this insane performance, but wow; out of that rapid stretch of 16 snare hits starting at 1:31 I love how the last four hits are consecutive rim shots...sounds amazing and looks difficult to execute. Your ability to place well-executed, full-sounding rim shots virtually anywhere (and at any speed) is remarkable.

  • @pethol2767
    @pethol2767 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    To be honest, I like this song the least of all tracks from the album. Though I've always been certain it's actually the hardest to manage (along with The Walk) - so I've been truly looking forward to see you play this song. It's a pleasure to my eyes, nailed it as always Travis!

    Dude I can't believe I credited your drumming to Matt all this time. I didn't realize you wrote these songs and made the regrettable mistake of saying something about giving Halperin his credit for writing it in response to someone complimenting your ability to play the song better than mat, and you commented to me saying I'm actually I wrote these parts. I felt dumb. lol a yeays, that was shorty after getting into the band initially and after learning a few my half assed interpretations of your music, I just wanna say machine. and inspiration. I was getting bored with all the same old stuff and it's drummers like you who snap me into it and try to push further. keep it up man.

    • @TravisOrbin
      @TravisOrbin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's all good. It's not your fault, the only person that bothered to even thank me in the album credits was Jake Bowen. But the fact remains that a lot of my programmed parts are present on the debut album. I've mentioned in past comments that if one wishes to hear the evolution of the parts, they should first start with the original Bulb demo, then watch my respective video, then listen to the album version. That's the whole impetus behind doing these videos, since nothing was properly recorded and released during my tenure in the band; for the sake of posterity and presenting these ideas as I had originally envisioned them.

    • @brandoncook7690
      @brandoncook7690 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hesitate to say 'student' as that tends to denote a longer period of tutelage, but I gave him two or three lessons in '09/'10. He also came down and stayed with me at my home studio for a weekend and we worked on a lot of stuff.

    Matt Halpern is a sick drummer and all but,,, can he play this song like this?

    • @camoranbg
      @camoranbg 10 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Matt plays this song way different to Travis. If you check Matt playing this song in a video on youtube called "Matt Halpern PASIC 2014 "Zyglrox" his playing is very loose and groovy, while Travis is 100% accurate and tight. Both are amazing drummers but very different style.

    • @TravisOrbin
      @TravisOrbin  10 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      camoran war I too enjoy Matt's interpretation of this tune, but his question was whether or not he could actually execute it in this fashion. I barely could, nearly gave myself a damn coronary.

    • @camoranbg
      @camoranbg 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Travis Orbin Aah true. Well tbh I don't think any drummer can do this song the way you played it, at least not this clean and with so much power and precision, this is some next level playing. I would like to see your protégé Rudy do this song though :D

    • @TehJaytius
      @TehJaytius 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Travis Orbin
      Which leads to the interesting question; since this song is so hard to pull off where does it rank in difficulty compared to Bugz, Thirst, Cannibal King and the like?
