Yuffie went from near the bottom of my favorite characters to top 3 easy. She's a great character, with amazing voice work and animation work. Also DAMN Cloud has a deep voice in the JP version.

Of everything, I think the greatest is they even match the mouth movement of all these hours of voice acting. I love the attention to detail from the creators. From little details from their universe to the hole in the ears when a character isn't wearing earrings. Wow! :)

What doesn't work is changing Red's voice into this cutesy little twink voice after making him sound exactly how he looks idc how canonically old he is. No wonder his species died out. They live too long. Makes a species evolve limited reproductive urge and capacity - like Pandas and the Galapagos tortoise. Biology wise it makes no sense for the vocal chords of an animal commensurater with a wolf or a mountain lion or a mix of both would have that high pitched of a voice.
yeah ima be honest he grew on me and was UwU and OwO more wit hthe pup voice - id still rather have it slightly more bassy cus it just doesn't seem like a large predatory animal like that would have that high a voice, he may be a child in comparison to their lifespan but he's still a giant cat/wolf thing, and if a mountain lion or a wolf growls - and if it could speak, it's pretty deep and has a lot of bass in it, so that bothered me that that wasn't consider, you can make him sound younger without making him sound like he is like 8 xD Either way it doesn't botrher me anymore - im even using him in place of Cloud for my New Game+ play thru. I’ve always listened Japanese VA versions. I’m glad SQUARE ENIX hired the new cast because this is the first time for me that I didn’t get cringey about English performance (I’m bilingual). They don’t sound they’re speaking what was translated (thus unnatural) but talking their own lines. Translation team did a great job -- though there are some lines that are totally different from the original nuances, it’s interesting to analyze why so from the sociological or cultural standpoint.
Amazing cast, they can be really proud of their work and the final result. I don't understand Japanese, so I can't judge it as well but I'm very sure that they're also outstanding. I know these characters since over 25 years and wasn't unhappy with a single VA choice. I think that counts for something as longtime fans do have high expectations!

Eng Sephiroth has always been voiced by actors who played Superman (with the expection of the Lance Bass aka worst Sephiroth voice ever even though he is the 1st English voice lol) Back on topic, George Newbern the previous VA of Sephiroth is actually the voice of Supes in the good ol’ childhood classic Justice League: Animated Series and of course the recent Sephiroth voice, Tyler Hoechlin who portrayed Supes in the recent Superman & Lois TV series It’s like English Sephiroth is destined to be voiced by Superman actors only and none other, making Sephiroth an evil version of Superman, which in a way he kinda is

Square has been doing a really good job with their dubs recently - feel a lot more natural. 16 was also written entirely in english first by the localization team and then 'dubbed' in Japanese - if you play with Japanese VO the voices don't even match the lips haha
Thanks to Rebirth's amazing cast and voice direction in English, this version is now equal to the Japanese version. It's even more interesting that the theme song is only sung in English. With respect with the Advent Children English cast, it makes me wish we'd receive an updated dub with the Remake/Rebirth actors/actresses.
Is def not equal, the acting for Japanese is better (Crying, shouting and just in general) since they have been the voice since Advent children, but for me the reason I still choose japanese is not the acting cuz I'm sure all ENG cast did their best, is mainly the dialogue, the localization misleading lots of translation and made the english dialogue so much worse compare to the orginal script, some of them is misleading completely such as translate Aerith "My first love" to "Boys" and some forshaowing just none exsitence in english.
@@Kylesaystuff Localization dialog is one thing but I’m mainly talking about the voice acting. I couldn’t say the same for Advent Children (I always prefer the Japanese track) but for Remake and Rebirth, they really took it up a notch with the voice direction. Even Matt Mercer has a better take on Vincent than Steve Blum did. I thought I loved the husky voice but Mercer’s delivery is now far more bespoken and deeper, which is incredibly fitting for Vincent. But Britt Baron my favourite between them all. I can’t get over how she nails it. I also have to hand it to the voice director as well. I’d even argue their voices now actually fit better than the Japanese versions. Elena is ok for me but it hardly detracts the main cast’s overall performance.

The level of talent is clearly evident lmao I've never played either part 1 or part 2 in English VA most of the VA for the Japanese has been playing these characters since AC and other very popular anime we all love the only thing messed up about the Japanese version is the subtitles it's not translating everything they are saying properly
You can thank localization for that. They'd rather rewrite the entire script to their fanfic than have it be translated properly.
Exactly. Sometimes it changes the nuances of original lines, but it’s impossible to translate everything from one language to another. It’s interesting to analyze why they made a certain changes…. I’m glad I’m bilingual…

the english voice acting in this game really is phenomenal. Normally I can't stand english dubs, but they really have improved a lot.
I'm playing rebirth and played remake in German and I must say sephiroth has the best voice actors in all 3 languages. His voice lines always gives me chills ❤

Eng Sephiroth has always been voiced by actors who played Superman (with the expection of the Lance Bass aka worst Sephiroth voice ever even though he is the 1st English voice lol)
Back on topic, George Newbern the previous VA of Sephiroth is actually the voice of Supes in the good ol’ childhood classic Justice League: Animated Series and of course the recent Sephiroth voice, Tyler Hoechlin who portrayed Supes in the recent Superman & Lois TV series
It’s like English Sephiroth is destined to be voiced by Superman actors only and none other, making Sephiroth an evil version of Superman, which in a way he kinda is

I actually think the English dub voices sound pretty similar to the original Japanese. Both are great!
Square has been doing a really good job with their dubs recently - feel a lot more natural. 16 was also written entirely in english first by the localization team and then 'dubbed' in Japanese - if you play with Japanese VO the voices don't even match the lips haha
Thanks to Rebirth's amazing cast and voice direction in English, this version is now equal to the Japanese version. It's even more interesting that the theme song is only sung in English. With respect with the Advent Children English cast, it makes me wish we'd receive an updated dub with the Remake/Rebirth actors/actresses.
Is def not equal, the acting for Japanese is better (Crying, shouting and just in general) since they have been the voice since Advent children, but for me the reason I still choose japanese is not the acting cuz I'm sure all ENG cast did their best, is mainly the dialogue, the localization misleading lots of translation and made the english dialogue so much worse compare to the orginal script, some of them is misleading completely such as translate Aerith "My first love" to "Boys" and some forshaowing just none exsitence in english.
@@Kylesaystuff Localization dialog is one thing but I’m mainly talking about the voice acting. I couldn’t say the same for Advent Children (I always prefer the Japanese track) but for Remake and Rebirth, they really took it up a notch with the voice direction. Even Matt Mercer has a better take on Vincent than Steve Blum did. I thought I loved the husky voice but Mercer’s delivery is now far more bespoken and deeper, which is incredibly fitting for Vincent. But Britt Baron my favourite between them all. I can’t get over how she nails it. I also have to hand it to the voice director as well. I’d even argue their voices now actually fit better than the Japanese versions. Elena is ok for me but it hardly detracts the main cast’s overall performance.

Not saying English is not good, but just a shame that so many things got lost in translation and only some people from twitter who knows Japanese can clarify that.
