And that is the only way to possibly like that ad: by not understanding not only what they're saying, but also the unfathomably cringey way in which they do that. Trying to script a supposedly natural conversation wasn't such a good idea.
They spent a solid six figures on that train wreck, while a so much better ad could've been had for four. By simply following two guys, having a conversation, with a steadicam or two.

Der IX ist doch kein Auto mehr sondern nur ein fahrender Taschenrechner. Wer das haben muss.....
Bis zu seiner Aussage im Spiegel war ich auch ein Fan von Herrn Waltz. Jetzt nicht mehr. Aus meiner Sicht nicht gut für BMW. Dazu passend das IX mit dem einmaligen BMW Coupe (E9) zu vegleichen.

These cars are useless at the moment. I think it's time to open our eyes and indicate the pollution in combination with the power plants. This is not the way to stop climate changing

@??? Mit spitzer Feder formuliert - aber ich verstehe, was Du meinst. Ich denke, BMW sitzt "zwischen den Stühlen" und muss den Spagat zwischen einem riesigen, asiatischen Markt und seinen europäischen Wurzeln hinbekommen. Wirtschaftlich betrachtet macht es sicher Sinn, das Design auf den lukrativeren Markt auszurichten. Gegenüber Asien ist der deutsche Absatz eben "übersichtlich". Mir gefällt die Umsetzung und die Message dieses Spots sehr gut. Seien wir mal ehrlich: Auch wenn Dir (und mir!) die Biber-Front nicht gefällt - gekauft werden die Autos sowieso - und das nicht nur von CEOs, sondern auch von allen Bestandskunden der Marke. "Nötig" hat BMW diese Clips daher vermutlich nicht - aber sie helfen beim Spagat - und unterhalten zusätzlich. Für mich ein #WinWin

Marketing these days is about (customer) experience design. Interaction with the product and its presentation is meant to be an experience for the senses. Also emotional marketing, you want to trigger feelings because that is what moves people. Which is not new but becomes more and more important. At the end of the day, also the excitement you´d get out of an impressive specsheet you understand is an emotional reaction after all. Also people calling themselves most rational in the world are led by emotions in the end. Sometimes they´re not concious of it but that´s how weé wired…

Christoph Waltz, das Café Hawelka und ein bissl Österreichisch - da schlägt das Herz eines Bewohners der ersten Wiener Gemeindebezirkes gleich höher.
There’s no denying that BMW are putting some amazing tech into the new cars and creating some great driving machines but the polarising design is something bmw will regret. Why produce cars that divide opinion so much? Who is responsible for this policy? “Monolithic presence” is not a selling point, it’s an admission the design is ugly. The company produces some stunning designs and some eye wateringly ugly designs at the same time. Odd.
True, but normaly they fix the worst in the facelift. ;)
@@rntnpln_ true, but not doing it in the first place would be better! For eg they reveal the new 4 series/M3/4 grill and everyone goes “hell no”, but they do it anyway. Now third party companies will make a fortune producing better looking grill designs, one of which could have been used from the start, instead of bmw going “look, we listened to feedback and redesigned the grill”. “Say whaaaaat?!”
@@stubones sure, but I think 4 grill matches better to the car. But with a SAV, my goodness, its the same with X7, terrible. On the other hand, BMW design often scared off and after a few years sometimes you changed your mind
I fully agree: BMW engineered (based on what we can see so far) a great machine, but due to the over-the-top design and the aggressive marketing campaign, which consists of insulting existing customers (at least those outside China where BMW still sells over 70% of its cars) who dare to have a different opinion from BMW's designers, they take the attention away from this engineering achievement. So rather than celebrating that they have created an EV with impressive range and no need for rare earth materials, they turned this into a fight over beaver teeth. To summarize: BMW marketing and designers are on the best way to ruin the achievement of the BMW engineers and destroy customer relations.
Yes but Mercedes also has great tech i as a driver want (see new S class) and their cars today look better than any of the designs coming out for BMW.
We had a love afair wt bmw since 1988. I know its coming to the end now especially when i start saying that Mercedes cars now have the look, cozy interior and all the tech one needs. Why continue wt the ugliest front grills on a car of today.

Thats a big statement. I don't understand much German but I think I get the point.
Fortunately I think the bold new grill is a bit more suitable on the iX than it is on the 4 series.
I don't think I will like the 4 series in the metal but this iX may just be a car I desire.

This new grill design is going to be one of those watershed periods in bmw history when people say “what were they thinking??”. Obvious the new X5 and 7 series grill was just a way to get the public prepared for what was coming.

Having owned 5 BMW cars over than 20 years, I must say that I have a strong dislike (an understatement!) for the new grills. Plus it’s a copy of Audi’s grill design from a few years ago.

That is a pretty neat car, and I loved seeing Christoph being at first a bit skeptical and the music choice was A+. He's mentioned in an interview that he judges cars based on their stereo systems so I am guessing that is what won him over lmao
As much as i love the new grille and the suv, i love those classics they showed at the start and even the one he drove. They should really bring it back

"Solomon" from the "12 Years of Slave" soundtrack? Bit of a weird choice if ya ask me. Hearing Herr Waltz speak some German is rather pleasant, though, not gonna lie. Dafür gibt es erstmal einen Like, Respekt muss gezeigt werden.
12 years is how long the average customer will have to pay off the loan on this ugly duck! BMW, if you read this, more i3 type design, please...low impact manufacture, reliable longevity but bigger and with longer range and towing ability and roof rack.

Glückwunsch BMW... Hammer Werbespot!!! Die Unterhaltung der beiden hat genau das richtige Tempo. Und den richtigen Wortwitz. Schwer zu beschreiben was das bei mir auslöst. Es macht irgendwie nachdenklich... Schaue ihn gerade schon zum zweiten Mal an. Macht auf jeden Fall Lust auf das Auto.

Keine Angst BMW ist E Pioneer, Angst sollte Mercedes und Audi bekommen und Tesla, keiner kommt da mit in der Klasse und i4 kommt noch vor dem Sommer. Ich habe mir i4 reserviert und ix werden mehr verkauft als Model X und Etron zusammen

I fell in love ❤️ with the iX through that wonderful video ❤️- had yesterday my first test drive with that astonishing piece of future and ordered it … now i have to wait 1 year till i‘ll get it. C'mon Christoph.... We both know the car looks horrendous.... Jesus christ.... I have a Z3, Z4, 420D from 2019 and im not buying the new 420D since the grill is horrendous, and not even a BMW electric car cause they all are horrendous.... well.... except I8 but i need something with bigger autonomy and a little cheaper... Hello Audi e-tron sportback.... :/ First time im buying another car that is not a BMW..... shame...
See, this is a really well made ad and all. i dont even dislike the i series so far. love the i8, i3 was an amazing baseline, this one doesnt look bad either but...
You compare something as beautiful, timeless and driver focused like a CS to some basic school-run SUV (or S "A" V because thats fresh and new) thats gonna be obsolete in like 10 years?
Please. i know you guys know what your cars do to people and i know that you know what "feel" in a car is like.
Electric vehicles have amazing potential, the "world saving" marketing crud put aside (granted im not trying to sound like one of those "ohhh actually ev´s are worse because xyz", the only reason they would be worse is because so far, they´re treated like smartphones: replacable throwaway items - and hopefully, that will change over time), but it diesnt seem like any of the big manufacturers is actually trying to do something with all that potential.
All we see so far are boring eco-boxes, sure, some are better than others, i´ve driven an i3, a Zoé and a Citigo iV so far, gonna try more as well and honestly, all of them are great. They wont give me the feel of a 135i or even a 120i with good suspension, a VW Up GTi or a Polo 6N2 GTi but well, so far, no actual sporty versions of those EV´s came out either with the Zoé being the most fun out of the bunch honestly.
Granted, there are concepts out there, Zoe RS, VW iD3 R, probably BMW planning something as well but...
We´re talking about the next generation, about innovation, about something that could give you the amount of pure driving pleasure as a BMW CS. I own a DTM inspired E30 M3, had an E46 330i, , a 120i, and so on. you guys know how to do "feel".
Give the world something that ACTUALLY compares to a CS or any of the amazing, beautiful cars and vehicles that you´ve made over the years. I know it´s possible and i know that half of BMW is probably itching to do something cool, and be it an i3M or just iM or something like that. no SUV, Something Z4, M4 or even 1-series sized. I know SUV´s sell but fun hatchbacks do too.
Or, actually get crazy and do something 6/8-series based as an EV. nice, Tesla Model S sized, more of a coupe, Gran Tourer, luxurious, good looking even 15 years from now...

Oh trust me, BMW has insane sounds coming next. BMW is working with new sounds for all the newer bmw electric vehicles and they’re all different noises not just the same ones over and over.

You know what, I might not like the new BMW IX entirely. But I love this advert because Christoph Waltz, is one of the greatest actors I know. And because of that I might start liking the car, maybe in black.

Потому что бмв не для каждого, и они постоянно вводят новый дизайн в отличии от ауди например которых от друг друга 20 лет не различить, продажи говорят за себя бмв догоняет мерседес по продажам и если взять бмв группу то давно обогнали, ауди вообще не конкуренты

BMW don't give two shits about the driving enthusiasts anymore. Maybe a tiny bit with the new M3 Pure but the steering has sucked half the fun out of these cars since the F10/electric power steering came out. I recently drove a G20 loaner and was horrified by how un-BMW it was..felt like a Lexus from the helm. To be fair it was a 330i and not M340i
