    I wish I could give you many likes. This is such a nice video. Thank you so much! I am making my first pair of toe up socks and this looks like the way to go. I am in the middle of my swatch and it's going well. Thanks again!!😍

    This technique blows me away! I did 2 swatches: A 30 stitch flat sample that in worsted that enabled me to see what is going on and a 60 stitch-30/30 on 2 circulars that allowed me to try a mini heel and get back to the regular stitch count. it worked perfectly! I love this!!!!
    I have a pair of toe up socks just poised to start the heel and this is going to be my first attempt at toe ups. I can't wait to get going....thanks for the clear, complete explanation.

    Thank you for taking the time to do this tutorial, it is the only one that has explained this stitch where just about anyone will be able to do it. Thanks again.

    Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial! After a day of trying new techniques, shadow wrapping is by far the easiest and neatest but I couldn’t find anything (read: spent hours searching online) to address the holes until I came across your video. I am so very appreciative, this is one of the best tutorials I’ve ever come across (for any technique!) THANK YOU!

    It is nice that you continued to knit to the end. It is so much easier to get it when it is seen over and over again. I really like this technique !!! Thanks for the time you took to really make sure we understood !!! I doing FLK heels currently which teaches the Twin Stitch but this looks awesome and I will try it next !!!

    This is so helpful - very clear and no time-wasting. I've watched a lot of these videos, and usually tune out pretty quickly, but not with this one. Very concise and no essential information missing (what is it with all those shadow-wrap tutorials that only cover the extra stitch creation, but not the actual finishing of the heel??). Congratulations on an excellent tutorial.

    This is my absolute favorite short row method. I also like the German short row, but I seem to drop stitches when I do that one. Great tutorial. Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply, Miriam. Will be watching Craftsy. I'm enrolled in one of your classes. It's great. I'd recommend your classes to everyone. I forwarded your video on Shadow wraps to a friend in Ottawa and she loved it. She's working on sox this way now. Thanks, again.

    Thanks, Miriam. I really love how that extra 3rd stitch seems to close the gap even better than a similar technique that I use which was my favorite heel turn. Now, your Shadow Wrap with the 3rd stitch will be my go to heel method. Thanks, so much! You do a great job in demonstrating this technique!

    Thanks. I keep this video handy and watch it every time I do socks. My question is, when I am doing two-at-a-time, I do NOT do the “slip to avoid the extra row” since I am not purling back on the very last row. Instead, I continue in the round across both insteps and complete the remaining triplet when I continue on the heel side. Is this correct?

  • @magpiesneedle2575

    One thing I’ve never before seen anyone show is a good view of the finished purl side. Does this feel bulky along the sides of one’s heel? I have want to try this for some time. Your instructions are very clear

    Thank you so much Miriam! I love this method....HOWEVER I am having a problem....when I am finished the sides do not match. The purl wraps look gorgeous and tight, almost like store-bought socks, but the knit side is wonky! I have tried pulling tight enough to practically break the yarn....and that seems to help a bit....but I don't see you needing to do that here. Can you think of something I might be doing wrong?

    Sorry for the question, but, is there a reason why you didn't do a 3 stitch (shadow wrap) on the first stitch of the working back row? It's at the 5 minute mark and I'm at work. Can't listen to instructions. Maybe you mentioned it, but, I can not listen and there are no subtitles. Thanks!

    • @mimknits
      @mimknits  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Carole Durch it makes the transition from the first half to the second half a little smoother and makes the sock heel a little rounder :)

    ETA ... Any chance of doing a shadow wrap short row TOE video ?? ;)

    • @mimknits
      @mimknits  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're doing it toe-up, you would work it the same way, just start with a provisional cast on (I have a tutorial for it here: th-cam.com/video/UONYH4CH3Aw/w-d-xo.html) and then use your live stitches and the provisional cast on stitches to work the round.
      If you're doing the sock cuff down, you would use half of the stitches and work it the same as the heel and then graft the toe stitches to the stitches that were held aside.

      Miriam Felton Thanks for getting back to me, Miriam!!
      I've done toe-up socks using a provisional CO (I use a crochet hook with a knitting needle) and German short rows. Should be much the same I suppose. Thanks again ...

    Have been searching for this method all over. Yours is the very best of all that I've found.. Had been using the German SR method, which was OK, but this one is even easier and gives better results. Thank you so much! How about. Craftsy class on sox done this way?? I've subscribed and will be following you.. Shari M, Regina, SK, Canada. PS. If you want to immigrate to Canada if Trump gets in, I'll take you😋

    While your tutorial is good, your 'fuzzy' video is not.
