I spent two weeks there last November, I was to go to Paris, but, had to cancel due the awful events that occurred. It rained every day, but, I had the best time ever. Dublin has everything you could possibly want. The people were friendly yet stylish and attractive. I saw the most beautiful women. The food was of a much higher quality than the food we eat here in the states. I did go to the Green Hen which was very good. The shopping was also very good. I liked Brown Thomas and lots of small shops around Grafton Street. Dublin can easily rival many cities around the world. I've been to London, but, I enjoyed Dublin much more.
Well, in terms of the costs of living (at the least), Dublin, certainly, rivals New York (e.g. to be able to survive in Dublin, by yourself, i.e. no one to share the costs of living with, and/or no social welfare assistance, you need a salary/wage of, at least, €4000/month; conversely, for a similar living scenario in New York, you need a salary/wage of, at least, $4000/month).
So many great spots in this video. I love Against the Grain! I moved to Dublin about 6 months ago and I just love it here. I've been posting weekly videos of my travels around Europe and my most recent is from Dublin!
Back around the 1950's, 60's, or 70's, my family owned a family pub in Dublin, Ireland and ran by great grandparents and grandparents. Me and my Mom never been to Ireland as we were both born and have grown up our whole lives in Canada. I hope to visit Dublin, Ireland some day.
If u haven't visited yet save urself some money by booking directly with the hotel or bed n breakfasts directly and u don't have to book accommodation in the city centre as public transport is frequent and cheap. Look online for even more savings.
Why does every advert for Ireland centre around alcohol? No wonder that girl was refused the Job is South Korea..... This is what our tourist board pushes.....
Understand what your saying, but we do have the best pubs in the world, and when people are on holidays they like good food and a good drink, that girl was refused a job on a stereotype, one that's hard for us to shake, EU statistics on alcohol dependency show we are well below other countries, the tourist boards website Discover Ireland is a fantastic example of what we have to offer!
There were three sections. Drink Just happened to be one of them for obvious reasons. Guinness is a well known brand throughout the world and for those who enjoy it really do like the tour. I for one did. I do wish they had included Dublin Castle and/or Trinity College as both were two more great things to see in Dublin but I would not say this centered around alcohol. Hell, they would have included the Jameson Distillery in here if that was there goal.
36 hours in Dublin not Ireland, when you centre an program like this in one city the scope of topics will be limited . Saying that I do think Dublin has more to offer than what was shown here.
NYT managed to make the fascinating and beautiful city of Dublin seem boring. There's so much more to Dublin (or any other place for that matter) than food.
Wish I was surprised that the only people criticising Dublin are people from Ireland, Dublin is one of the best cities in the world for tourism and should be on everyone's to do list.
Despite stereotypes, the Irish are not the world’s biggest boozers not by a long shot. According to data just compiled by the World Health Organization, Ireland did not make the list of top twenty drinking countries, although it did come close at number 21 on the list for most alcohol consumption, just behind France and Australia. The 2014 Global status report on alcohol and health has Belarus at number one with 17.5 liters of alcohol consumed per capita, for population ages 15 years or over in 2010. Moldova followed at the number two spot at 16.8 liters of alcohol consumed. In comparison, the Irish drank 11.9 liters, while Americans, 48 on the list, drank 9.2 liters.
Hmm, considering the Americans' (binge) drinking habits, the other way around (between the Irish, and the Americans) would have seemed more appropriate.
I trust most Irish people (in Ireland and Europe) are lovely! I've just gotten a bad impression of "Irish" people (who were all "Irish"-Americans) and often tended to be racist, far right, and close minded. Walking down the street on St. Patrick's Day in America and having people yell profanity at me isn't nice. But, yes! I forgot to mention, my wife is Scots-Irish (from Scotland, not America), so there are nice Irish. lol
+Steve J Honestly i'd say you will have a great time and its not like its nazi germany of course its not a problem that your a non white American. Slan from over here in Dublin.
+Steve J . Twelve years living in New York and have never had anyone yell profanities at me on St Patricks Day. Perhaps you drew it on yourself. Dublin was voted the second most friendly city last year in a world survey so you'll get a great welcome. Just steer clear of the Unionist parades in Northern Ireland during the summer months. They don't take well to foreigners up there I hear.
Jim Johns it isn’t a british drink. It’s made in Ireland, designed in Ireland and the brand Guinness is headquartered in Dublin. It’s been that way for 260 years.
if you watch this and think ireland is a good place like it used to be youll be dead wrong our own people wont stay here basically the irish is moving on to england australia and canada and sorts while the rest of europe comes to ireland
Your an idiot ireland is great our people leave because there's few jobs while people from worse off Eastern European countries come here for a brighter future?? You obv don't know the real ireland.
Pfff, "the rest of europe comes to ireland"?!? You might wanna reconsider/rework"the statements" you're uttering (or, in this case, scribbling)!!! Also, how did/does it work for "the irish... moving on to england australia and canada and sorts"?!?
36 hours in this plase? Are you off your mind!! The only way I go in this plase is on a spesiall moterbike that gos 500 miles to hour. And not get off it!!

True Irish? So because Dublin isn't packed to the rafters with folksy culchies, it isn't truly Irish? What a load of bollocks.
Opening Salvo the west is just better

Fantastic line "no great conversation ever started with 'I was having a salad'" hilarious.

Love Dublin and Ireland :)
Psyching myself up for my upcoming move to Dublin, bring it on!
Back around the 1950's, 60's, or 70's, my family owned a family pub in Dublin, Ireland and ran by great grandparents and grandparents. Me and my Mom never been to Ireland as we were both born and have grown up our whole lives in Canada. I hope

LazarusPlays Nice bit of casual racism thrown in there. What ruined places are these exactly?

It's very cool! I really like this country and Dublin
Thank you for sharing Ireland, I hope to see more.

It’s because if you’re only there for a few days you won’t really experience the bad side, it’s nice place to visit but not that good to live in
@@despacitogaymer4824 from opinion to opinion, personally, I'd like to live in Dublin, but only on a temporary basis (no more than a year).
I moved to Dublin in 1996 and never regretted a moment since. Its magical

+Cú Chulainn (Zombie Jesus) you sound like you're happy we are dropping down the list and losing our identity...lol
+Cú Chulainn (Zombie Jesus) . Shhhhh! You are destroying our reputation :)
Hmm, considering the Americans' (binge) drinking habits, the other way around (between the Irish, and the Americans) would have seemed more appropriate.

Was just thinking the same thing how narrow minded ar we.

Can't wait to be back in 3 months
The city looks well there to be fair, pity the scumbags and gear heads are allowed to roam around the city center making it look bad
+SuperMaoman Any ambo boss?
I thought Ireland has something more than alcohol to offer. Maybe, I'm wrong?
Lots more pal, I dont drink and this is by far my favourite place on earth having been to over 8 countries (fair enough thats not loads but still)
Which proves that we are a caring country, despite the fact that we caused NONE of the issues we are prepared to help those who are less fortunate..
Hipster dublin... doesnt even begin to illustrate our culture!
Has the price of listening to the Celtic Tiger roar been worth it? Tough call. I would say, "No"
Best city on the planet
.... I was havin' a salad lol!
i'm going here next month!! super excited... are irish people nice to non-white americans? i'm not white. lol
+Steve J Why wouldn't we be. Every single European country has a far right political party, except Ireland.

Jim Johns it isn’t a british drink. It’s made in Ireland, designed in Ireland and the brand Guinness is headquartered in Dublin. It’s been that way for 260 years.

Cork is way nicer, Dublin is so dirty.
Cork is ugly
Ireland today is where Russia was under Yeltsin. Tomorrow, it will resemble Detroit.

+Silas Lang lol if this guy is America he is a disgrace. Ireland is an amazing country that I can't wait to move to.
