There is a touristy type bus (747) that is €6 one way. Then there is also the 41 & 16 busses that go to the airport and from the airport for around €2.80 one way.
Its just not in the usual touristy areas :-)

Like the show - don't forget the DART which is the light rail line that connects Dub north-south with great towns along the coast. Favourite after living there 6 years - Hartley's right off the Dun Laoghaire station on the DART. 15 mins south of city centre. Cheers!

You must go to the home of Irish comedy "The International bar" Wicklow st Dublin 2. This place has being hosting comedy since 1987, it's where all Irish comedians have started there careers. It started on a Wednesday night and now it's on 7 nights a week. The entry fee is only €10 and you will see 4 top acts, a great night of laughter guaranteed👍.

    LONG LIVE IRELAND!!!
I spent 3 months there living in Dun Laoghaire and LOVED every second of it, what a beautiful country! TARA, Newgrange, Hill of Slane, Monasterboice so much history! I would not mind living in Ireland!
PS for the "perfect glass of Guinness" go to where it is made, The Guinness warehouse and pour one for yourself!! The views for the top is amazing!

Great guide - full of fantastic information! Just to note, you can grab a bus direct to the the city for €6 online (Airlink Express), or €7 at the airport as opposed to the €9 mentioned in the video. Also, the Luas lines are now connected, so there is no need to walk 15 minutes between the two lines anymore. We're lucky in Dublin to live beside the sea, and a trip to one of our seaside villages is always a great was to spend a half day - options include Howth, Dún Laoghaire, Malahide, or Dalkey.

The DART train is also worth a look as it runs along along the seafront of Dublin Bay if you fancy exploring some of the suburbs or lovely fishing village of Howth northbound and seaside town of Dun Laoghaire southbound. View from the summit in Howth of Dublin Bay is worth it! Also, if you fancy a quick peek at Irish countryside go down to Powerscourt House is gorgeous County Wicklow (The Garden of Ireland) and stop by Avoca Cafe, Kilmacanogue on your way there for AMAZING food in a gorgeous setting.

If you're staying in Dublin on business or just like to get a good night's sleep, be mindful of your hotel location. Dublin is truly a city that never sleeps, especially in the summer. With a number of bars and pubs that are open until late your well needed rest may very well end up disturbed by poor planning. There are a number of very good hotels and B&Bs outside of the immediate centre which are all in walking distance. On that note, Dublin isn't a particularly big city so walking is undoubtedly the best and cheapest mode of transport. That said, if for whatever reason you need to go to The RTE studios (Ireland's national broadcaster), take a cab. It's a good hour's walk from the centre, each way...as I discovered...

One tip though is if you are not with a large family get a small car, the smaller the better as driving in Ireland can be tough. The small cars are easy to maneuver around the small streets and way easier to park, trust me smaller is better!

+Herluf8000 Hi, if you go into any local shop the majority of them will sell Leap cards (travel card) top this up by 20euro and you can travel as much on Dublin Bus for a week. For things to do i'd recommend Kilmainham Gaol (take the 79 bus from Aston Quay), Guinness Storehouse (take the 40/13 bus from Dame St) Visit the Leprechaun museum - its not like normal museums its a lot of fun (near the Jervis Shopping Centre). You can also rent bikes from a lot of places in town such as temple bar for very little cost and id recommend cycling to the Phoenix Park - the largest city park in Europe - 3 times the size of Central Park. Dublin Zoo is also in this Park and the Presidents House Aras an Uachtarain. Fun Fact the White House is based off this house as an Irish man designed the White House. Hope this helped and enjoy your trip in the most amazing city!!

Why do Americans be amazed at the fact Ireland uses the euro Ireland is part of the European Union and never used British pound we did use punt also known as Irish pounds. Which always had a different value to the British pound

Makes sense .Something i might ask my brother who lives in england and who travels to america fairly often, because they are still costs that might not make it worthwhile.

    > '...and you can hail one of Dublin's 12,000 taxis... that's more than New York City', by the way...' Why so many taxis, in such a [ relatively] small [ population wise ] city..? Anybody???
