First, the GOP has never been a Southern party. Yes, most Southern whites in the present day vote Republican (at least at the national level), but there are still some Republicans in every state, even those we think of as being "blue states." (I would argue the whole "red states vs. blue states" dynamic is really misleading, but that's for another time.) It's for these same reasons why Democrats are not a coastal or Upper Midwest party, even though they usually carry those states in presidential elections. Second, I'm not so sure it was intended to have a country sound as a Dixieland sound. Dixieland jazz historically was used extensively in campaign rallies, which would probably explain that.
I think Richard Milhous Nixon was one of the best Presidents ever but Donald John Trump did a lot of good too. The economy, foreign policy and being surprisingly squeaky-clean!
I love them both! I've often said that America needs another Nixon (minus Watergate, of course), and I have a feeling Biden just might give us that. Of course, he's only been in office for two months as of this comment, so whether or not he does it remains to be seen.

I’m just wondering why the Nixon/Lodge campaign used a Country band as their campaign song(The GOP wasn’t a Southern party in the 1950’s/Early 60’s).
Because Richard Nixon did a whole tour of all 50 states, and started to like the south.
