Don't forget: while you're grinding, press any emote and the guardian will switch to different styles of that grind

You can also do the double side dodges and do tricks... xD
It will also extend how long you can grind, it slightly delays the energy being used
Left and right grinds are my favorite, up grind is default, and down grind is a reverse grind

2:00 Additionally, when it comes to the Guardian Games Skimmer, your boost trail's color is determined by your class. Hunters get Blue, Warlocks get Yellow, and Titans get Red.
Was hoping it would be subclass matching; but this works for me because I’m a Stasis Hunter main 😁
@rgentum the grind rail actually is subclass specific its just the skimmers boost that's not. Makes sense as they use their powers to make the grind rail

Makes the dunes in prophecy so much more functional
They def knew what they were doing updating prophecy alongside releasing the skimmer. I’ve gotten lost in those dunes catching major swell 🤙
Things you missed (editing if i find more):
1) you don't need to be boosting in order to initiate a grind
2) much like boosting, dodging on the skimmer does not deplete the boost bar.
3) Unlike with a sparrow, it is possible (though more tech-like) to do a sharp, or even an almost-stationary 180° turn while still boosting if you dodge while turning the camera. It is easier to do almost-stationary 90° turns while boosting as well - another thing the sparrow cannot do.
yeah the dodge is amazing for sorta resetting your momentum in a way. if you're turning a corner then boosting stops you from slamming sideways into the wall. dunno how this guy missed that
For the event, both the sparrow and the Skimmer have infinite boost energy for boosting and dodging. ( most players haven't even noticed the sparrow has infinite boost right now yet)
When the event ends, both Sparrow and Skimmer will go back to depleting boost energy when boosting or dodging. (it's in the patch notes)
It remains to be seen if the community still agrees that the Skimmers are actually that much better than the sparrows, once the infinite boost wears off.

Spamming boost while also spamming the shift attack generates even more speed, I think

The last time a hoverboard felt good to use was the one in Jak 2&3. To say I'm in love with the skimmer is an understatement of the century.
I'd argue the original Sonic Riders, but I also don't know when those games came out. Nor Riders, actually. Huh.

I was so confused about the grinding mechanic. Couldn't get it to work but once you brought up that crouch needs to be toggle and not hold...The music goes perfectly with the video!
I'm loving the use of the sonic adventure era music.
The dodges are for quickly changing direction, like making 90 degree turns. So, they aren't great at moving you side to side or really dodging attacks, but they are crucial in maintaining momentum through sharp turns. They've also got different animations depending on if you're on the ground or in the air.
Such a great addition, don’t know why we had to wait this long. Honestly didn’t know I needed it though!
you can still do tricks on sparrows, and just like the skimmer if you land the jump cleanly after a trick, you get a little sound to acknowledge it and it refills your boost bar
Not just the tips and tricks, but the music choice is S+
You can also do tricks while grinding on your skimmer like nose grinds. Just hit your directional pad while grinding.
Also a nice trick you can combine various movement tricks with the grind like grapple or skating this way you get some of that momentum to grind faster

also, you can carry your friend on the skimmer when you go for straight line, but not sure if they'll fall off when you turn or not.

Would just like to add this:
You absolutely CAN recover boost after doing a trick on a skimmer. Was testing it out yesterday and got it pretty consistently.
You have to use your jump and then use one of the side tricks. Time it right and it recovers your boost.
I gotta say that sonic music in the background is PEAK
The tricks do regenerate your boost gauge, you have to be close enough to the ground for it to trigger
i believe recently they shadow nerfed the Skimmer boost. i noticed you can’t spam the boost button to gain higher speed anymore
If you have something boosting your momentum the grind is faster, I haven't tested it other than doing it 1 time by accident, but I went into those grav cannons on Nessus, grinded and was WAY faster.
The skimmer is a little longer than a sparrow, so it'll collide with harsher inclines/hills and hard stop instead of climbing them like a sparrow does.
And there was a third thing, but that left my brain so... no third thing.
The animations for these are so darn sleek, props to that team at Bungie, they really knocked it out of the skatepark :D

Ive been replaying old ratchet and clank games lately so i was pretty amused to see hoverboards arriving in destiny after grinding ratchet and clank 1's races 😂

Emoting on the skimmer also makes you way harder to hit if you spam the emotes since destiny hit boxes are usually very advanced
if you do enough trick in a row while grinding and land theres a little confetti cloud when you land
Emotes while grinding are amazing fun
I like that pretty much everyone thought when they got their skimmer, damn I gotta take this thing to ribbon road
Just remember that there is nothing stopping you from chamging to a sparrow mid flight. Its quite easy and makes gaining height with no floor below you really easy with a sparrow fly.
Additionally, you can also jump off your skimmer and jump with the skimmer at the same time to have a skateable ledge for shatter/wellskating. Only works on the ground tho.

A little detail I found was that if you summon your Skimmer while walking backwards you'll do a spin to get on. Doesn't change anything as far as I'm aware, but it looks cool
While grinding some of the emotes changes the pose your character is in while grinding
Its nice they finally added some variety to the Sparrow slow after all these years, now they finally have the Skateboard Warframe got a frw years back

If you emote while grinding you actually change how you grind after doing a board flip
This reminds me of being able to glitch and stand on your sparrow in D1
the dodge (also doesnt take energy) will reset your momentum! if i go around a corner ill face where i want to go and dodge away from the wall my momentum is going towards and itll keep you going straight. Also good for not taking fall damage and blowing up your skimmer just like the sparrow

I've managed to get the exotic skimmer when I did the competitive nightfall solo with solar hunter, is that good or not?
I've learned that you can dismount faster for a re-summon by canceling the grind with the grind button instead of jumping.

You can still grind with hold to crouch... Sort of.
It seems that if you bind both hold to crouch and and toggle crouch to the same button press you'll be able to maintain the hold crouch behavior while regaining the skimmer grind.
It’s my new favourite way to kinda skip through the glassway nightfall
Sparrow control gonna get a lot cooler next time it rolls around.
I saw on another video that there's a grind-boost/strafe combo that's faster then regular grinding and you can climb vertical walls with the side dodges.
There's also a trick where if you side-dodge and jump off midair, it's apparently instant allowing for you to infinitely grind in air more easily.

The emotes do actually replenish boost! You just need to have it low enough and the entire emote needs to be done mid air
If you test the skimmer while not moving and press the L/R triggers you'll see that it still is considered dodge.
If you do enough tricks on the skimmer while grinding or in the air, and then stick the landing, you will hear people cheering and gain boost recovery
It would be cool if skimmers got some tech like hitting enemies with the tip of your board while doing a trick dealing extra damage or igniting them with your boost if you’re close to them

I begrudgingly bought it today. I hate that its stuck in a pack of other things i dont care about but its pretty sick. Lol
PSA: If you're a hold crouch user tie the hold and toggle crouch to the same button input and it will enable both the regular hold crouch gameplay and the air grinding without any drawbacks
One thing i found is that if you emote while grinding it changest the pose

Not sure if you realized yet but shotguns now have “glint” when you hold them out, also, I amble to jump off a the skimmer mid Air after grinding WITHOUT touching the ground, it might be a bug that makes you unable to jump off

Hey TDT i noticed in your video you didn't switch positions/stances while flying/grinding just press an emote while grinding.
Loving the use of Live & Learn! I would say though, for future reference, that Sonic Riders music could also fit really well, considering it's a racing game revolving around hovering vehicles, primarily hoverboards, called Extreme Gear. Just... don't touch Free Riders. The motion controls are ass, and I still don't know how I was able to unlock Super Sonic with them fighting against me all the time.

Smashing the boost and the side toggle(attack button 🤣) will make you dizzy but make you go super fast!!!

no it's not a set distance in the air, it slowly pushes you upwards when you grind lol
also if you re grinding you can do a skimmer jump to get out of grinding, allowing you to get off the sparrow faster
if u want to turn sharp corner or got stuck with terrain, use the dodge button
you can grind a bit faster if you boost, jump, then grind with it
