I rewatched the entire series for the 3rd time before watching and to me El Camino seemed unauthentic. Fat Todd and the color grading ruined it for me personally. Cinematography was a step down and the story fell flat for me. Yes it brought us closure, but I know damn right Vince could have done better.

I love how Todd said he wasn't sure if he could still remember how to play Todd, even though I swear he's always in character. Even giving those interviews.
Yes, but that's a testament to the subtlety of his acting. Watching Friday Night Lights and Bent he really does seem like a completely different creature in those. Breaking Bad was, I'm guessing, a relatively confining role for him.

@@vrabo3026 i think he says that because out of that trio, Jesse was the only to try to beat his demons. Skinny and Badger just languished and serviced Heisenberg when he needed their help, but Jesse actively tried to get out and fix his life.
That line made me cringe lmao, just felt so out of place.

I did notice a slight difference. He was definitely emoting a little more in the interview. U can see it somewhere between his brows. If u really look.
I feel like Vince also did this movie to give Aaron his spotlight. Him being a sidekick in Breaking Bad kind of hindered his ability to be taken seriously in other projects. Now he's the star of a great movie. I really do think Vince thinks this highly of Aaron and wants him to be a movie star. He said in the commentary that "you're a movie star man" just really high praise of Aaron.
Well, I agree on some level, I mean Need for Speed the movie did exist before El Camino, but we don't talk about that one.
Its supposed to be a anniversary piece but vince decided to make it a movie.

I love that Skinny Pete and Badger aren't merely in this movie just because it's the Jesse show now. Walt also knew them well enough through Jesse to the point that he used them in Felina , so you can watch El Camino straight after and it fits together.
The money they give Jesse is the money they got yesterday from Water paying them to be "hitmen" :)

Loved El Camino's ending. We got closure but still left with wonder with how Jesse lived from that point. Because that story is his to live and tell, and his alone.

Todd is my favorite antagonist but the best part about him is that it's hard (for me) to even call him that. He seems so human yet inhuman. Like his actor said, he'd just missing some certain human emotions, like what you get when scientists try to create a person in a lab but they can't capture all the nuances of being human

@Big Boss it's actually technically a neo-western. That is, that it deals with a lot of themes and storylines and characters that are reminiscent of those of old Western movies, but they're set in a modern setting. Other examples of the neo-western genre include No Country for Old Men, Hell or High Water, Wind River, and Logan (yes, the wolverine movie).
“The greatest 15-20 seconds of screen time ever” was the top shot of Jesse looking thru Todd’s place. It reminds me of the top shot of Mike looking thru the desert with a metal detector in Better Call Saul.

Aaron has such a good attitude towards his work. You can tell he is genuinely happy and grateful for his job and success. I really admire that.

Lol. I don't think Todd's playing with a full deck of cards. He seems almost borderline slow in the head. Being raised by someone like his Uncle Jack, he just does what he knows. Compared to Uncle Jack, and Jack's boys, Todd is a lot more polite then them. If Todd would have been raised by good, normal Parents, he may have ended up being a decent guy.

Anyone whos seen brba knows hes anything but slow. He was sharp. Rem he told Walt he disabled nany cams in first home theyre supposed to cook. I dont think his character arc in camino fits brba Todd.
I think that he would have turned out to be a completely normal and functioning adult if his parents weren't neo nazis. But he was raised with a different set of morals. Todd is a walking example of what a nice guy looks like in a world where murder is A-ok.

It'll always be impressive how Vince managed to give BB a perfect finale, then he did it again, them made BCS and did it a third time.
Something that I truly appreciated and what gave me THAT MUCH MORE of appreciation and love for Aaron Paul as an actor...is if you watch the movie again you realize he has literally the LEAST amount of lines in the movie, being the star of the film too, and you could feel literally every emotion from him, understood what he was thinking. INCREDIBLE! job well done is an understatement to the whole cast and crew! Thank you for the wonderful enjoyable work of art.

When he first appeared on Breaking Bad, I really didn't expect him to play any significant role at all. Thought he was just there for that one deed and that would be it. Like the junkyard guy, too.
If i could change one thing in the entire show...it would be nothing.. man this show is so perfectly written and played from every angle...hats off to Vince and the hardworking crew. 🤩👌❣️

The amount of care that was put into making the characters look exactly like they were just goes to show the amount of effort that goes into a project like this. You never appreciate little details like this until they’re gone.

I wish we could have a sort of anthology miniseries with each episode focused on one of the supporting characters in the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul/El Camino world, showing a pivotal moment in their lives.

This was such a fantastic way of ending Jesse's story. All the pain and heartbreaks he suffered in the show, he finally gets to live a peaceful life at the end

The irony is that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul could have worked together longer in Malcolm in the Middle. Aaron Paul tried auditioning for the role of Francis if I recall correctly.

I almost wish they would’ve done it as a limited one season mini series. I seriously wanted more! It was really a great way to segment or continue the Breaking Bad story. Very well done yo!
The hardest part of this movie was seeing how much Jesse changed for the worse. I mean picture in your head that scene in the junkyard when the magnet idea worked and the laptop went flying. Now cut to Jesse in any scene in this film… he’s still so young, and he will never be the same. Will probably never be that happy again about anything
I absolutely LOVE Vince's directing style - you'd think with a mind like his and with a project as high pressure as this one that everyone would be tense AF but you can tell he's just letting them do what he brought them there to do.

I Am Groot Todd asks Jesse in relation to the car piece. Jesse doesn’t answer, and Todd suggests they just grab it at each side for now. This occurs in a flashback. The whole movie is about Jesse trying to let go of and stop dwelling on his past (moving backwards) and start fresh (moving forward). The fact that Jesse doesn’t answer alludes to his state of mind at the time. He feels trapped in his current state.

Me and my friend Ezekiel got to watch this in theaters two weeks ago. Breaking Bad was our favorite show. He was found last thursday and had ODd. Happy we got to see this together.
I just started watching Breaking Bad like a month ago not long before christmas and finished it last week and then El Camino yesterday. Wow. It feels so real.
I love how excited everyone is while talking about their respective departments. There's so many details that I missed. More reason to watch it again.
