Hi Joice… little fact… more than 20 mil. (1/3) of Thai population are mixed Chinese descendants mainly tiew chiew from cantonese region. Maybe this is country having the most chinese descendants other than China and taiwan. But they no longer speak chinese and percieved themselves as Thai. So, You can easily find thai version of chinese foods. Enjoy staying‼️

In Thailand, you can find a lot of TBC (Thai Born Chinese) guy but most of them couldn't speak Mandarin or Cantonese since their family speak only Thai. The fastest way to learn Thai culture and language is to have a Thai friend or boyfriend. You can save your monthly expense by living in a rural area of Bangkok or move to other nearby province such as Nonthaburi, Nakornpathom, Samutprakan, Chonburi which could save up to 50-70% of your current expense and you could still communicate with the local Thai people in English. Hope you enjoy a great moment in Thailand!

i have been watching your videos since the beginning and im loving the thailand vlogs!! i lived in south korea as an exchange student for a few months last year so i can see some similarities between us with being away from family for the first time and so far away too, exploring a country you dont really know the language of. we are also basically the same age 😄 i would love to visit thailand some day and your videos are definitely getting me excited!

Just to let you know, if you plan on changing to a longer-term visa for Thailand, you may not be able to change over directly from an ED visa without leaving the country. That’s because certain nationalities changed over to long-term visas from EDs and started doing business illegally, so they’re being a lot more strict than they used to.
Hope you can find a way to stay in Thailand, it’s a wonderful country with so much to do and see. The people are great. And don’t get me started on the food, it’s a foodie paradise.
I’m Chinese-Canadian btw and I was also on an ED visa for just under a year. I’d definitely consider returning to Thailand, loved my time in Thailand just that it didn’t quite work out on the more personal side of things.
You should spend more time going to the different parts of Thailand. Bangkok’s a cosmopolitan place, but it’s far from telling the full story. The north used to be its own country called Lanna, centered in Chiang Mai. I didn’t actually go to the south, but heard it’s pretty different there.
Bangkok’s also a great hub to see other places in the region. Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam are all within easy reach. Don’t bother with Singapore for too long because it’s expensive and too regulated.
I fell in love with the night market culture in Thailand, it’s just the feeling of people gathering in a spontaneous and down-to-earth kind of way that’s really appealing. So much of this spontaneous and socially organic way of living is gone in many other places.
You won’t regret Thailand. And I hope you have much better luck making Thai friends than I did (partially because a lot of my energy was tied up with a partner).

You should be able to find a job easily in Thailand especially a position where you can use your English and Chinese on the job. If you can be more influential in Thai or at least understand and be able to communicate in Thai better, that will give you a better opportunity to get a job. Do you realize that many Chinese companies are investing in Thailand now, especially in EV car manufacturing and batteries?

wow i could not say this better....Im from hk born there actually move to canada in 99. Love Bangkok, Thailand everytime I go I am happier, more relaxed and love the people there as well as of course affordability. People in hk are judgey very materialistic and I found myself hating that environment. Not to say they are ALL like that but it was definitely a vibe there. I want to move to Bangkok too just even for a year. I crave that so bad.
It's refreshing to see an ABC on TH-cam who can actually speak Cantonese and sound natural. So many ABCs out there sound so cringey, try-hard and forced.

I used to stay alone for a year in Thailand because my ex company send me for a one year business trip. I stayed there alone in BKK Grand Diamond hotel. After that I missed my home and wanted to come back home quickly. I’m from Singapore. By the way I’m surprised that you can stay unemployed in a country like this for so long!

I missed my chance when I was young, today I have obligations and going to Thailand as an old man no longer has the charm as in classic films, but rather something very sad and dirty. I was in Bangkok for work in 2010, couldn't see much, but felt the very peculiar vibe of the city. I would love to experience that again. We only get one real chance in life for everything, enjoy every day now.

Yeah ABC Americans definitely have unique characteristics different from Mainland born Chinese. Just from high level observations, Overachievers, maybe a little bit more materialistic, IMHO, maybe you can comment if you are different from this etc
Bangkok is a lively city that offers everything you could need, often three to four times cheaper than other major cities with similar economic sizes. You can meet new people, enjoy international cuisines, or shop for well-known brands without spending too much. I hope you find what you're looking for, whether it's for your plans or needs.
