    Great review. I've had my P300e with S level trim since March 2021, and covered over 20,000 miles in it. It has spent less than 2 hours in the garage being serviced during that time. Apart from a couple of software glitches with the Pivi Pro infotainment system early doors, it's been a great car, and completely reliable. Charges in under 2 hours, regularly get 36 miles plus from a standing charge in EV mode, even more in recovery mode on a long journey. I took the Meridian sound system as an option and glad I did - Alexa was added about 3 months ago in a software update too. It's fast off the mark, and given the awful EV charging infrastructure currently in the UK, it's a good move - although in 5 years time, a hybrid will make much less sense - but at the moment, I love it (and the 3 cylinder engine sounds like a racecar when you boot it :) )

    Good review, a great car to relax in! Sport mode doesn't effect steering feel, so I'm glad you didn't notice any difference. I had one of these for a day last year and found it pretty good. The P300e isn't for me though since longer journeys, especially at motorway speeds, can leave you with just a slightly weedy 3-pot engine hauling a heavy car and battery. Ideal for just local trips though and for those who don't need the full off-road chassis capability. I tried pure EV mode in rural driving and got 35 miles, which is pretty much as advertised.
    The main thing though is the specs for the Evoque range which changed around Christmas as the chip shortage bit deeper. Initially standard and then an option, those brilliant surround cameras have now been deleted entirely. The interactive dash has also gone from all but the Autobiography in favour of analogue dials, and the dash-top and lower centre display/control panels have also been downgraded. On the other hand, a car ordered now may not appear until 2023 and by that time things may have improved.
    I ordered my car in April last year and was told it might take 4 months to arrive. Ten months on I still don't have even an estimated build date!

    Just ordered a p300e, which will be my 4 th Evoque. My journeys are all predominately under 30 miles (there and back) so the PHEV seems to be the obvious choice. I know that for the same money I could get a fully electric Volvo, but there are two issues with that sort of choice. I don’t trust the countries recharging facilities sufficiently to go ”all electric” and I still have a life of sorts so a Volvo wouldn’t suite!

    NB from Jan 22 LR have deleted the Surround Camera system; you just get the rear camera. Similarly, the digital driver display is only available on the Autobiography. Also, you get another inch of headroom if you go for just the fixed panoramic roof.

    We are on our second Evoque a diesel SE that is only just over 2 years old and it is very good better than our first one that was 5 years old. Both have so far been trouble free but we feel we have to bite the bullet and go electric. We have just taken two valuations for our existing car and amazingly these are only just short of our original purchase price. We are not ready for full electric as the national infrastructure for charging is poor. For example we recently did a 370 mile journey and back again although our journeys are around 35 miles at most can you rely on finding reliable charging for that. Is now the time to change?

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, if your journeys are usually 35 miles, then you won't have a problem with a lot of electric cars (especially at this price category); if you have access to a home charger for example it'll be a non-issue.
      However, for a 370-mile trip, it'll require a little extra planning (ie checking to see where is the nearest charge point) - but again, one can presume you'll be stopping at least once on said trip and thus will likely find a charging point at motorway services - most in the UK have rapid chargers installed.
      Note, all of the above is based on fully electric vehicles, rather than a hybrid such as the P300e; as here a PHEV simply won't have any issues, you just charge where and if you can, but it won't hinder your ability to drive longer range due to the fuel tank.
      Hope that makes sense?

    • @jamesdavidson4135
      @jamesdavidson4135 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TotallyEV Thank you for your reply. The 370 mile trip was a one off although we do drive twice a year to Cheshire over 250 miles. Otherwise 17 mile trips and back are the norm I feel we are not ready yet for a full EV but soon perhaps.

    Nice review. I am planning to buy a p300e but have little doubt on how far it may drive if running on hybrid and consume how much petrol before next charge on an average?

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked the review, but confused about your question - are you asking about the electric range and MPG? If so, that was covered in the video.

    • @erkamlesharya
      @erkamlesharya 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the response.
      May be I misunderstood. Sorry new to these terminologies.
      When you say 35-40 mpg as mixed, does it mean when driven in hybrid mode?
      Also I wanted to understand if I run it on hybrid mode, approximately after how many miles I have to recharge the battery again?

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We'd suggest reading our review (it's in the description), maybe that'll be easier to understand in a written format.
      Indeed the MPG figure was in mixed driving (motorway to city roads), and in hybrid mode.

    A very thorough review, as you say, expensive but then they wont have an EV until 2024. Did you drive at speed in EV only mode? I did this in the Disco Sport PHEV and it was fine up to 50 mph then it stayed there - very dangerous. The engine should have cut in

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve got the autobiography on order, diesel all the way. The only battery I want in my car is the one that starts the engine. The price of a second hand electric car is shocking. The average life of the battery is 6 years, and considering the battery is 75% the cost of the car… would you buy a 2nd hand iPhone? I wouldn’t the battery is shot…

    • @aib0160
      @aib0160 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@trader548 The standard diesel is a mild hybrid for the same reason. The fuel consumption over the old model is no better, so it's purely there to get into a lower tax category as otherwise it just adds weight, cost, and complication. If I could have specified the car without it I would have done so in a heartbeat.

    This is a temporary drive train and fuel version of a lot of the manufacturers currently ... When the Oil companies and Governments decide that it holds no water for the future (Financially), only then, can the future breath clean and fully embrace electric power at it's best. Battery tech is moving forward now, realising that the old battery tech is not sustainable or able to satisfy the demand.
