    We have been running one of these for 5 months. The interior experience is terrific- premium quality. We have an electric sunroof which is fabulous but probably best avoided if you are tall. Fuel economy so far is 75+ mpg (mainly short journeys). Ride quality is good and super quiet over all road types. Accelerates like a scalded cat. The 3 cylinder is very refined and seamlessly cuts in and out. We have a Podpoint charger which schedules charging in the middle of the night at low rate. Very impressed so far with this product.

      Dumb question but what happens when you do not charge the electric motor? My dealer says you still get 309HP total and 109HP from the electric motor, but that doesn't make any sense. What happens when you don't charge the electric motor, does it still give any boost?

    • @hinkwanwong9315
      @hinkwanwong9315 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thejudgeholden Why doesn't it make sense? The engine should be able to charge it to a level that can still provide acceleration boost, as acceleration is an occasional event, engine has ample time to charge the battery in between the cruise and stops. This is how non-plug in hybrids work.

    Three full size Range Rovers, one RR Sport SVR, three Evoques and one Defender later and we’ve had one starter motor fail on the 2010 Range Rover. Don’t know if, speaking from actual experience, I’d call that “too unreliable”.

      To Many people claiming LR's and RR's are unreliable have never actually owned one. Have you noticed, its always a mate, or a guy down the pub who has had nothing but trouble ? 😂😂😂. On a foot note, I owned a Freelander 1, 2.0 TD4, which i had for 8 Years, no major issues, only your normal wear and tear items. Infact, the only real issue with the landy 1, was seized glow plugs in the Engine, and guess what ? That engine was the BMW engine. I now own a Freelander 2, 2.2 TD4, which i have had for 5 years, again, no major Issues.

    I hired a PHEV a few weeks ago, a Skoda Octavia estate. While I realise it's not quite the same thing, but by comparison it took 5 hours to charge from empty and ran for about 35 miles at motorway speeds before going on to petrol. Most times I came off the gas it would put a little more into the battery, as it did every time I braked. So much so that when I went into the services after 120 miles it went back onto battery until I went back onto the motorway. When we got to the ferry there was enough electrickery to get us on and off the boat. Transition from battery to ICE was almost seamless. Doubtless VW and Audi will be better still. If the Evoque wants to compete, RR needs to up its game.

    • @nomdeplume798
      @nomdeplume798 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In addition, at the two fill ups it returned 58 and 62 mpg, worked out, not from the trip computer in about 600 miles, mostly on motorways.

    Now if the infosystem doesn't keep resetting or the top screen going blank then I would be very happy with my p300e autobiography. However when you are paying serious money for these cars, this is not what you would expect. Oh and if you start the car whilst still on charge, then you cannot switch it off without unplugging and then switching off.

    I own one of these
    The aesthetics and design fantastic
    But
    I can honestly say I have multitude of issues from beginning to now 16,000 miles in. I still have on going issues.
    1st issue the diesel gasket was leaking fumes into cabin this was literally on delivery had car less then 24 hours
    2nd issue had to return dealer as rear window would not close
    3rd issue pro touch duo screen system
    Both screen going blank or jitter non stop meaning no control of there sat nav, driving setting and climate control etc. Been back to the dealer numerous times told it was a issue update.
    Sometimes indicators were no indicating sound etc
    Returned to dealer numerous occasions they realised this was a wiring issue.
    Next issue the stop start no longer functions
    Going back to dealer again soon.
    There few aspect that annoyed me
    For the price your paying for I was surprised there no wireless charging especially. Other similar car brands has this as standard.

      @@johnmalin1676 Hi there John. I took over my mothers Landrover in 1976, my first car. It was continually causing issues. Which as a young chap I just couldn't afford the continual repair bills. I eventually abandoned it in London in 1985, when it wouldn't start, I come from Wales . In 1991, I had a brand new top of the range Range Rover, this is what put me off them. On it's first day out, my then girlfriend opened the passenger door, which dropped about half an inch, and couldn't be lifted back into place. It continually leaked in heavy rain not from the door, some where else, never found, so the carpets had to be dried the seats went moldy etc. The electrics were awful, constantly telling me I had break failure, when there was none. The brakes glazed however, but nothing to do with the hazard lights. I was driving from London to my farm in Wales when a plastic bush in the gearbox(!!!) melted. Thousands of minor issues, and rust within about 18 to 24 months. Little or no help, or care from the dealership. Sold for monster loss.
      Finally, when I bought the farm where I live now (2005), it came with a long wheel base landrover. I gave it to one of the builders working here at the time. As far as I know it still doesn't run. My experience of most of JLR's output is fantastic world beating designs, put together to a standard akin to 1970s Eastern European levels, ala say, Lada. Sorry John, but my level of frustration with that Range Rover, also the lack of care from the dealer has put me off for life. The saddest thing is that JLR, and their dealers are well aware this is the case. They continue to promise that it's all in the past and they'll get it right this time, but they never do. Now there's a new chap in charge making the same banal pledges. It's all hot air. If they do ever get build quality under control they should have a guarantee like Kia or is it Hyundai 100,000 miles etc in place. But they'll never be able to. Finally I have an old BMW it's been hammered for 225,000 miles. It just starting to show it's age. I'd like to replace it with a Lexus but think they're ugly! What ever I get it won't be JLR, I've heard their empty promises too many times. Kind regards P

      @@johnmalin1676 John I'm sorry to hear about your Volvo. I'm not sure you're absolutely right about 90s cars being unreliable and prone to rust. The Range was a replacement for a Porsche I had wiped out on ice, hitting both sides of the crash barriers on a motorway in Gloucestershire! Hence wanting 4 wheel drive. But that was bomb proof, no issues at all.The Range spent most of its 1st year in the dealers garage being fixed. At the time I had sales agents all over the uk and was driving 30,000ish miles a year. One of the dealers mechanics came to me at one point saying " you do realise these cars aren't meant to do a big mileage!!! At that point it had only done about 45000 miles.
      But the issue I have is the noises coming out of JLR are the same today as then, ie we accept qc was a problem but we're getting it right from now on....I believe their build quality to be institutionally dire. If their product is now so wonderfully reliable, why don't they match the verbage with a guarantee like other manufacturers at less than half the price? Regards P

      It's not the manufacturers being "allowed" but the various international agencies forcing them. It's well known that they are meaningless in absolute terms (so why don't the agencies have more "real world" data?) but they do give a reasonable comparison.

      For those purchased as company cars that ain't a problem! In fact, because the depreciation is so good on the Evoque it makes it more affordable than any other rival (and I mean proper rivals like the XC40/60, X3, Q5)

      @@topcat4265 A modern Euro 6 or above diesel is a fairly clean and highly economical source of power especially for medium and large cars. Diesel has the highest energy density of any fuel. The only place where I would not recommend one is for short stop start journeys, where a petrol, hybrid or even a pure EV would be better. I used to have a Prius which I bought for a 60 mile round stop start mixed urban / semi urban commute. For that purpose it was ideal, but it was as satisfying as driving a washing machine. When I stopped having to do that, I bought a Euro 6 diesel. 1800 rpm at 80 mph and over 60 mpg, coupled with lots of low down torque is ideal. Horses for courses really. These days it depends on your driving profile as to what is the best option.

The amount of people who develope respiratory problems directly to do with tailpipe emissions is unacceptable. Mass adoption of EVs/hydrogen cars has to be aggressively accelerated. In the modern day petrol hybrids should have very few use cases if any.
