Scott, never apologize for being so in-depth. Those who don't appreciate attention to detail probably aren't the ones going balls deep with washing/detailing their cars like some of us do. Love the vids and the tips you give. Keep it up, good sir!
One of the few things I learnt in college, lol...... Chemistry class we made soap. The professor explained all the different types of pH soap formulas that we made. For a close to pH neutral soap, it doesn’t do anything but make the water a bit more “wetter”. Basically, adds a higher level of lubricity. So for most cleaning issues, you have to move away from 7pH to able to strip contamination from clear coat, or you’re just washing with water. This video is a great explanation of this!
No I already bought everything, then I learned about the clay. I didn't want to return the compound to amazon. The car looks really good though, the electric buffer was a big help too.
Haha. I just was in Walmart yesterday and found Superclean gallons in detailing and a guy in a grey garage type shop shirt asked if I was using it for detailing because he saw the spray bottles and I said that a you tube guy Scott from Dallas Paint Correction recommended it. He says that guy is good, he really knows his stuff. He used to do body work and paint at a high end dealership but now does paint correction and detailing on contract and on his own. Says you have solid 'Real World' info on every aspect of paint correction and detailing. You're famous. Thanks for taking the time to put it out there.
You know, I have been seeing all of these car wash videos that recommend all these buckets and 2 or 3 buckets with grit guards etc..... I have come to the conclusion that no matter what you do you will end up eventually with swirl marks. Even if you do touch-less washing then you towel dry? I think I will live with a clean truck and not worry too much about it. Washing a F250 extended cab truck is like washing 3 regular cars! I can't even reach all of the roof without using an extension pole! Life goes on, and nothing lasts forever!
I been detailing cars for about 10 years now, and I never ever considered this concept before my man, great demonstration to bro...thanks for the awesome tip!
No need to apologize Scott, we greatly appreciate the time and effort you put into these instructional videos. They're enormously helpful with all the tips and suggestions that you offer from your experience. If I lived near Dallas I would bring my all-black 370Z to your place for a paint correction and ceramic coat.
Just have to say this Scott. I don’t mind your videos being long at all. You give out fantastic information in them. I’m 62 retired and just getting into car detailing. I can’t begin to tell you how much I have learned from your videos. I have made my 07 Dodge Charger with Black Chrystal Pearl paint look absolutely brand new again and my wife’s 2012 Chrysler 200 with white paint look fantastic as well. Plus the interiors on both are now beautiful. Thanks for taking your time to do these videos. I watch every one that I can. I’ll have to say I have spent some money replacing the products that I had always used before with better products but it absolutely pays off in the long run. I love Super Clean, we use it everywhere in our household now...great product for sure. Thanks again...love you too brother God Bless
You don’t need to apologize for doing your level best to help others understand! I just discovered this video and it’s exactly what I’ve always suspected! You can’t use a gentle soap and water to clean the surface! Thanks for sharing
I went out and bought SuperClean because of you and detailed the inside of my dad's truck and it did an amazing job. He owned it and never took care of the inside. Your tips made it look nearly new again. Thanks SuperScott! :)
Miss your videos Scott. I must have missed something. As much as you explain and apologize for that, it's why people are here. You were always good at explaining the mechanics of things.
Scott no need to apologize for being so in-depth you’re a life saver by teaching us the importance of each product versus someone who rather want quality over quantity. I’ve been using meguiars gold class for a little over two months now and absolutely love it!! Especially love how it removes the dirt WITHOUT stripping the wax and still leaving a beautiful glow on the vehicle. The scent is nice and pleasant, Not offensive at all
I dont care how long your videos are. I appreciate every second of them. You do a great job of explaining especially giving the "why" as why you do it.
Ive subbed to you now Scott, Im a detailer in Spain (Im from the UK though) and you know your stuff, you dont let the industry fool you, you let yourself make up your own mind and then tell us your own opinion. Ive learnt things from you from watching maybe 10 of your videos so far.... Im hoping to learn more as the videos keep coming. Ps you really need to get a sock puppet for that hand, It would make the video hilarious being told detailing tips by a sock puppet 😂
The detail shop I worked for many years ago always used dawn dish soap on every vehicle that was going to need paint correction. It worked great ,removing grease grime and stripping wax.
I Have Tried many Soaps Over the Years and have found that Meguiar's Gold Class is the Best Even Smells Great . I use it on my Motorcycles Cars and Travel Trailer . the thing I Like is that it does not Strip the Wax off over time and leaves a streak free and Shiny Finish every time all of Meguiar's Products live up to their name never had a problem with any of them been using them for over 25yrs
Scott, so glad I found this channel. I have been a retailer for many years. Used to be a 9-5 but now it's just as a hobby and with my personal vehicles. These videos you upload are so informative and I enjoy learning about these topics. Please keep it up! Your videos make me miss doing mobile detailing.
I bought super clean because of you too! I only bought the 32 oz though. But even at this size, with it's ability to dilute, it'll last me a long time!
You're the first reviewer I've seen that mentioned using distilled water. I use it often and can see a real difference. I don't dry my car with a towel. I wash it with a hose and soap (armor all premium wash and wax), wipe it with a wash mitt, spray off the soap then douse the whole car with distilled water while its wet. I let it drip dry since the soap lessens the chance of water spots according to armor all and distilled water doesn't leave spots because the hard minerals that leave spots aren't present. I also wait for an overcast day or wash my car shortly before sunset. I've noticed spots tend to appear on areas of a car where water can sit like the roof, trunk, hood and not so much on doors and other semi vertical surfaces.
Wow. Great explanation. I was wondering why so many name brand soaps are "pH Neutral". I also have a new appreciation for the hand washing process. I just wish you would have told us what the "unicorn soap" with the 10 year guarantee was... :-)
I know this is super late..but im assuming he was talking abt purple power's vehicle and boat wash...its a car soap thats not ph neutral and actually cleanes the car
I started using Meguiars products on my first car about 2 months ago, their quik wax is perfect including their soap and waxes, possibly the best I used so far. especially their gold class soap and wax it's so beautiful
I picked up superclean over a year ago to detail my moms dirty old jeep, it did a really good job getting rid of OLD coffee stains and who knows what else. Elbow grease is going to be required on that kind of job no matter what you use but using a good product like super clean really made the job less terrible.
Sounds like your magic soap would be great before polishing, and applying a sealant. Wish I knew what it was. My 17 year old truck still looks like new thanks to Klasse products. 10 years is nothing. If you are complaining about how long the video is or how much he talks listen at 1.25 or even 1.5 speed. He is still easy to understand.
Just found your channel. Love the fact that you go into great detail. I also use Meguiars gold classic. I own a 2017 Mustang GT I bought brand new and am very picky about my car. Just started using the Trinova foam cannon with my pressure washer and love it. Thank you for great videos.
Hello Scott, I live in the UK where in winter and our winters aren't quite siberian or Canadian winters, the lunatics at the highways agency put stupid amounts of salt/grit on our roads. So, answer to your question is...... I deeply care about protection. Protection against the brine we have to drive through in winter and spring until that salt finally gets washed from our roads. Swirls I can easily deal with. I have a da bottles of v32, 34,36 & 38, vss you get the gist. Polishing, sealing & waxing is not a problem for me. However, getting the grinder, welder and tin snips is to cut corrosion out of body panels. Bottom line, it's easier to correct a few swirs in my black Merc paint than deal with corrosion. I like to wax and protect. PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN Cure. Well in my world it is. Thanx for the vidz they're gr8. Sending good fortune and health. Best regards Alec
I was in Walmart picking up some detailing products and there was a person picking up super clean because wait for it. Scott with Dallas paint correction said so
I live in Las Vegas...very hard water...thank you for the tip...will make sure to use the water in the bucket from my home, which has water softener, and not the garden. THANK YOU!
I love your videos. I learn from them. I want to join this industry. It is no doubt skilled work and we need people with years of experience like you to teach us. Thanks! All the best to you!
Yeah meguiar's nxt generation is the best especially if it has meguiar's nxt generation wax on the car work very well together , yes distilled water very important if you have tank water
As many of your videos as I have watched.. this I'd the one that finally made me shoot that sub button! Great work Scott. You have a kind heart. Hard to find these days. We love you too buddy, keep up the awesome videos! God Bless!
It has been in the 90's today. After several hours of attempting to clean the car. I sat down to watch your video. I fell a sleep about half way through the video. Gettin old suxs, they say the mind is the first thing to go an there wrong. Yeah, I will check out this Magoo mouth wash.
I think what he is saying is the best thing to do is keep your clear coat clean by using stronger soap I agree some times I use chemical guys citrus soap 5 or 6 ounces in my bucket this will strip everything off then start again with wax Love these videos
I use Meguiars Gold Class on my pool bar mosaic tile. IT cleans nicely and leaves a gloss and it doesnt affect the pool chemicals as there is some runoff into the pool. I also use it on my Black Honda Pilot
So, Super Clean and Purple Power you would use if you want to totally clean and strip off all dirt, contaminants and waxes, polishes. And,you are planning to apply a polish, sealant and or wax. But,use a product like Meguiars gold class wash soap(ph balanced) that wont strip wax or polish but clean the paint surface and your just going to dry the car and maybe apply a quick detailer. I can see using the stripper soap like Super Clean or Purple Power ir even Dawn when cleaning after winter in spring or on a extremely dirty vehicle.that is going to be clayed, polished and sealed, waxed or ceramic coated.
Hey bill im not sure on that either. But my guess is to use pp or super clean to get down to the bare clearcoat. Im going to detail my own car later this month and start from scratch. I will was the car with purple power then clay and then polish with megs polish. But im not sure if to wash again after the polish or just apply a wax over it? Any suggestions?
i buy meguiars deep crystal for around $4.50 per half gallon and use lots of it when i wash my car. half the price of the gold class and i like the results better.
I use Turtle wax Extreme car wash. $ 4.50 at Wal-Mart. Haven't tried Gold class or Super clean yet. Use Dollar Tree Carnuba wax and car wash. For a dollar you can't beat it. Shawn
Listen I've used Ajax dish soap for years the water sheets off when rinsing it leaves no spots and it dries wonderfully. It's cheap effective gets the car clean and it's no big fuss. Simple and easy just the way I like it. You don't need all this and that the other complicated crap. No scratches on clearcoat on Hondas
Scott, I couldn't find the video where you had some reps there to show which soap you were going to use as a no touch soap with a power washer. Where is that video, or what was the product! Love your videos.
I live in an area with hard water. From all the car shampoos i used, meguairs nxt is the one i like the most. It minimizes the white marks after shampooing.
Turtle Zip Wax wash is the best soap for a cannon that I've found at the big box stores. I mix it one part soap with two parts hot tap water, again in the cannon. My set up is the 20$ MATCC canon from Amazon and a 3000psi 2.8gpm Briggs&Stratton gas power washer. The Zip Wax says it doesn't strip wax. Supposedly waxes as you wash(BS). I'm assuming it's ph neutral but might have to get some strips to check. The water here is very hard, if others have softer water or a water softener they might be able to use less soap. Foaming, allowing to dwell and power washing takes more off then power washing alone in my experience. Of course touching the car gets it the cleanest. You present an intersting point, choose scratches or choose absence of wax, no third direction.
Scott, So what’s better to clean my car before I apply a wax? The Super clean or the McGuires wash you showed? May I ask your opinion of “Nufinish” liquid car wax? BTW, I’m just a retired Military guy washing and waxing my car in my driveway without direct sunlight.
I have been using baby shampoo and wash for washing my car. The cost is 6 to 8 dollars a gallon. Let me tell you that goes a long way washing without stripping wax off the surface. This worked for me Scott. How about mixing baby bubble bath soap and cheap dishwashing liquid mix for a soap cannon ??? Thanks for your time Sir. vf
A fact is: An alkaline based soap is a superior cleaning solution. In the commericial pretreatment world, many businesses use alkaline cleaners because of this reason. Some use acidic cleaners because they don't want an aggressive cleaner on their materials being cleaned. So pH neutral soaps may be the best cleaner for the job as Scott explained.
The first video I have seen from you and it is very helpful. Now, I keep things simple. Most of my customers do not have a wax or protectant on the paint. Some of them would like me to apply a wax. So now seeing what you use to keep an existing wax etc. intact, what are you using on dirt that is tough to remove? Or in other words wax prep I call it. I'm the type that needs to know, if I have "this" car and they want "this" done, these are the steps I'm taking. Whether it's someone that wants a basic wash, or someone who wants me to buff, polish, and wax. I want to avoid lugging around 4-5 different soaps for EVERY possible option out there. I don't have time for that. SIMPLE is my goal. I'm sure this is not an easy answer and it comes down to what I like working with. But what about you? Thank you for your time, and any help or feedback. GREAT VIDEO NEW SUB
love the long videos. i prefer explanation rather than here use this because it works. my bf is from New York and I'm from Missouri so its a North vs South listening to both of us. i like the accent. anyway great job Scott . keep the videos coming!
Given the choice of keeping protection on my cars or removing “all” the road film is an easy decision. I would much rather keep my car protected with a barrier to avoid contaminants sticking to the paint causing etching and damage to the clear coat. Bid droppings and tree sap wash right off a protected vehicle. Having no protection opens up many more issues for potential clear coat damage. However, if you are a person who wants to use a product like Purple Power VBW, and you use some kind of maintenance protectant after each wash, that will also work. But without that short term protectant applied every time, I would not consider it.
Scott, have you ever used the yellow wash and wax. I am in the process of testing it as a detailer mix with water. I am wondering if you have tested that product that way.
I’ll be slammed for this but in my years of hand washing, the best most luster producing soap you can use is Murphy Oil Soap. That’s right, it’s the one with the green emblem and is touted as “Original Wood Cleaner”. It’s relatively inexpensive and beats McGuires and others. Just wash, blow dry the car, and chamois or micro fiber towel to wipe up remaining drops. This is not a joke and just try it one time and you’ll be hooked as I was. Just let results speak for itself!!
Scott, God bless you for being so thorough and honest, without being critical or judgmental of competing products or companies. As a car novice, whose interest is in keeping my vehicle clean and bright, your information, knowledge, and analysis is outstanding. genuinely learned a lot from your video. Keep up the good work in transforming us into educated consumers.
This sounds great 10years of clear paint, but it's for it to turn out that way with every day elements, what if you get bird droppings that don't come off with this other soap and spraying it off, or paint over spray stuff slung up from the ground, mud all of this stuff comes to mind
great point...yes you will still have to clay the car say twice a year if you want..you can use iron x so your not applying a lot of pressure for the claying process...those who worry about their paint sealant are most likely going to remove bird droppings and water spots quickly even though they have a paint sealant on the car so deal with those issues as needed..this soap i speak of can be used twice a month and remove stuff like mud and other stuff that slings up on your car far better than a ph balanced soap and limit your need to touch the paint as often helping you keep the clear coat scratch free but its not ph balanced and will remove sealants thats why i asked, whats more important to you, a car with a sealant or a car with no scratches:)...i know its a hard thing to decide but i know in the real world of detailing most of my clients would say i want a scratch free car for the next 10 years over a car with a sealant because most people don't even apply a sealant regularly anyway:)
Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing very true Scott for my personal vehicle I'll go with your mystery soap, for customers I'll go with sealant and repairing the minor defects more money to be made that way, always appreciate learning new things from your videos
I just started watching your videos and have had amazing results just following only some of your advice. My cars are cleaner and the results last longer! Thanks! B H not Ct.
Scott, here's another scenario: What if you used a Sunjoe cordless pressure washer, and put some Calgon dishwasher detergent? When I used it to wash dishes, they always came out clean and SPOT-FREE!
Thank you. A few questions: What do you think about Simple Green to clean? Any suggestions on purchasing a hydro-foam cannon? Does one just add that on to a hose? Thank you.
I think for consumer products overall quality and price,Meguiars and Mothers all around are the best. But, yes you can find household products at any stores for cleaning/degreasing exterior, wheels and interior etc that dont have the fancy label, marketing and.high price.
I'm too Lazy( and Old and Handicapped) I belong to my Towns Car wash Club for $30 mo.. I drive the car thru it as a hands Free wash..once a week in summer and 2-3x wk in winter here, in Wi., But, I also have them Super Wax it in the Spring and Fall ( included in the $360 yr ) and the Paint has a 3 coast of Clear Coat prior.. 3 yrs and its like new ..;-)
A lot of dirt and light dust can be washed off with water alone and that is sometimes just what people need but this is more road grime and it doesn't work for that. With time rain will rinse off vehicles and it can remove a lot of the water soluble dirt (please remember water is technically a solvent it has some cleaning properties) but as the rain rinses the car off you are left with a layer of film which is not water soluble and needs to be remove for the most part by contact wash to what degree heavily depends on the type of grime and the season. A lot of the US treats roads in winter so you should use a specialty cleaner meant to for these types of substances and they can save you time but it's situations like this where car soap can help make your job easier.
In deciding between integrity of the clear coat and less scratches I think I'm inclined to say I would like to ensure a minimum level of gloss on the car. I think this would mean that, after a good polishing job, I'd like to minimize damage to the clear coat. Thoughts?
Are the commenters referring to Castrol Super Clean in the purple container? Everything I read says not to use on painted surfaces. I used some years ago to clean my aluminum wheels. It ruined the finish on the wheels. It left a white residue that I could not remove. I would never consider washing a car with that product.
It’s only necessary to polish a car once a year max. My car is almost 2 yrs old and I’m now considering polishing it before waxing it. Regular washing saves clay bar/polish hassle in the long run......if washed correctly
Scott, never apologize for being so in-depth. Those who don't appreciate attention to detail probably aren't the ones going balls deep with washing/detailing their cars like some of us do. Love the vids and the tips you give. Keep it up, good sir!

People think pH 7 is "better" because it's what others recommend for use on your skin or hair!
Paint isn't skin...
I'm watching this video to procrastinate washing my car.
Great response Karen!
You're a real sit-down comedian!
I washed it, compounded it, polished it, sealed it and then waxed it. Then my husband tells me he got an estimate to have it painted.
That's really funny (but irritating to you, sorry).
What? You didn't clay it???
No I already bought everything, then I learned about the clay. I didn't want to return the compound to amazon. The car looks really good though, the electric buffer was a big help too.
Apparently your hubby disagreed with your assessment of your work.
Maybe it's time to reassess your hubby...

90 psi from your home waterline?! Damn! that is really high for residential water pressure.
Grizzleback07. That’s very high pressure. I have around 70psi and it’s like a power washer with a low tip.
90psi? That’s serious!
I've seen higher but I work for a water department 🤷♂️
Most cities only run 50-65 psi in the mains...I wonder how he gets 90?
Here in Baltimore our water is 185ppm
Depends how close you live to the municipal pumping station.
You’re making thorough videos to assist and educate us! The more info, the better! Thanks for a great video.
You're not long winded, you're very informative, and we thank you!

Best regards
Alec
I was in Walmart picking up some detailing products and there was a person picking up super clean because wait for it. Scott with Dallas paint correction said so
haha
I live in Las Vegas...very hard water...thank you for the tip...will make sure to use the water in the bucket from my home, which has water softener, and not the garden. THANK YOU!
I love the long detailed vids bro I’m new to detailing so this helps me out ALOT as you talk more on point with products
I've been using Meguairs Gold Class for years and years now. I'll usually buy something now and again to test out and compare.
I’ve been using Gold Class for years !! Awesome !
I'm about to try Gold Class soon - any advice for a beginner? LOL
Is it really that good? I hear great feedback.
I just discovered this channel yesterday. This guy is like the Bill Burr of car detailing.
I think what he is saying is the best thing to do is keep your clear coat clean by using stronger soap I agree some times I use chemical guys citrus soap 5 or 6 ounces in my bucket this will strip everything off then start again with wax
Love these videos
This guy sounds like Alan Alda.
He sounds like a Yankee at any rate, lol. Sure ain't a local.
That's for sure!
No, Howard Stern.
Ray Romano.
no he dont; he says like raymond on everybody loves raymond! and use dawn dish deterfent and wax once every 4 months
Any suggestions?
i buy meguiars deep crystal for around $4.50 per half gallon and use lots of it when i wash my car. half the price of the gold class and i like the results better.
bird718. I use it also. Prolly the best “basic” car wash soap out there.
Nothing for that price cleans a vehicle as well as it does.
I use this on my camaro it works GREAT !!
"HAND MODEL" D) !!!! Just got a brand new Chevy Colorado. Stumbled upon your videos...AWESOME !!!!
I use Turtle wax Extreme car wash. $ 4.50 at Wal-Mart. Haven't tried Gold class or Super clean yet. Use Dollar Tree Carnuba wax and car wash. For a dollar you can't beat it. Shawn
Scott,I miss you
Listen I've used Ajax dish soap for years the water sheets off when rinsing it leaves no spots and it dries wonderfully.
That garden hose is my favorite. It was so cheap and way better than one with all the settings and shit you don’t need
As just a regular joe, this is super educational. Love it, thanks!
I've been using Dial Gold for years. Works great, plus it's antibacterial.
Wow you make this detailing awesome. Wish you had been teaching when I was younger. Thanks for vids
love the long videos. i prefer explanation rather than here use this because it works. my bf is from New York and I'm from Missouri so its a North vs South listening to both of us. i like the accent. anyway great job Scott . keep the videos coming!
thank you Kevin:)...much love my brother
Given the choice of keeping protection on my cars or removing “all” the road film is an easy decision. I would much rather keep my car protected with a barrier to avoid contaminants sticking to the paint causing etching and damage to the clear coat. Bid droppings and tree sap wash right off a protected vehicle. Having no protection opens up many more issues for potential clear coat damage. However, if you are a person who wants to use a product like Purple Power VBW, and you use some kind of maintenance protectant after each wash, that will also work. But without that short term protectant applied every time, I would not consider it.
Thanks for EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENCES.
Scott, have you ever used the yellow wash and wax. I am in the process of testing it as a detailer mix with water. I am wondering if you have tested that product that way.
You should have a detail school. These videos are all great and educational for newbies like myself.
This has always been my issue with soap. It doesn't even remove the dirt from the car.
To have both you can use PPF. I just my entire car in a matte PPF and know it's protected for years to come.
3 yrs and its like new ..;-)
Meguiars Gold Class is a pH8 so it's actually alkaline
Washing my 2016 dodge dart sxt with Meguires gold class today and polishing it with the matching gold class polish
Some of us cannot get our hands on water 😂. Those folks also don’t have cars, so it’s a wash. Get it - a wash 🤣
In deciding between integrity of the clear coat and less scratches I think I'm inclined to say I would like to ensure a minimum level of gloss on the car. I think this would mean that, after a good polishing job, I'd like to minimize damage to the clear coat. Thoughts?
I love your channel haha. Me and my friend are trying to start up a car detailing business and you are very helpful and informative
Awesome video of talking hand
love it:)
LOL!
In my case, I'm more interested in maintaining coatings than preventing scratches, but that is pretty much exclusively because I have PPF.
Hi Scott, I’m a new subscriber and just wanted to know what electric power washer you recommend. Thanks!
Are the commenters referring to Castrol Super Clean in the purple container? Everything I read says not to use on painted surfaces. I used some years ago to clean my aluminum wheels. It ruined the finish on the wheels. It left a white residue that I could not remove. I would never consider washing a car with that product.
I appreciate the long windedness. Seriously. Thanks.
Thank you so much for helping us and providing us with the knowledge for us do it yourselfers.
It’s only necessary to polish a car once a year max. My car is almost 2 yrs old and I’m now considering polishing it before waxing it. Regular washing saves clay bar/polish hassle in the long run......if washed correctly
Did you ever reveal the touchless soap?
It's probably Purple Power RV & Boat . He loves that stuff.
Thanks again for all your help
Your videos remind me "the hand" from The Adams Family show
lol
Hi Scott, how would you recommend washing a car that has had ceramic wax applied? Its a Chevy Tahoe. ty
Mothers gold wash N Wax and Turrtle wax carabien wash N Wax are also top notch
