    Steve from Sounds Heavenly travels to The Netherlands to find Bang & Olufsen's rarest and most exclusive product, so that you can hear it playing! With thanks to Harrie van Dam from B&O Rotterdam/Houten. You can experience Beosystem 72-23 for yourself by arrangement with Harrie at B&O Houten, Netherlands. The Beogram 4000c cables mentioned in the video can be seen on Steve's website at soundsheavenly.com

      Yes, B&O have really excelled themselves here, this is a superbly designed system. It is an honour for me to be able to provide a very small part of this music system by building the connecting cable for the Beogram.

      I use Beogram 1700 which is stylish but no comparable. And my opinion about B&O gramo technic is superb. Some only admire the style.
      What I observe is perfect stability of revs which is controlled up to braking force of needle within piece of second. I never missed any strobo visual unit with manual correction seen in other turnatables . It has ideal antiskating which is hidden for user therefore some may prefer such fancy with all the bearings on top I have feeling like my LPs thanks to 1 gramm tracking stopped degrade. I have no issues with base vibrations and I can listen to very low range fequencies without problems - never needed rumble filtering. - the suspension and balance is so good that even with brushing LP during reproduction do not skip. My coleges need to care for many things - I for 10 years only clean LPs and tip and quality is better than in radio transmission.

      Hey B&O Friends…nice video. Our 1800 is packed away…patiently waiting for a new cart. We’ll get her running again in the fall. Super neat unit. Coolest feature is 45 adapter. It pops-up and gives the record a quick spin, then back down and the arm comes over…Fully automatic fun! 🍻

    I always liked B and O, and ran a phono cartridge of theirs that was outstanding. Regrettably, their choice of distribution in the US makes for expensive prices. The cartridge I had , an east coast B and O American retailer said I got it for lower than was possible for him to buy from the factory.
    The only B and O system I have heard was in a nice big modern room, using those thin pole speakers and a vertical high style rotary CD changer . The guy was kind enough to play it for me, and I could tell he enjoyed showing it off, mentioning the high price as some people on the hill like to do. I thought my less costly system at home , a 125 watt marantz receiver , JBL L65's , AR eb101 turntable with shure V15 , put his system to shame, but I didn't tell him that, and let him have his fun. I attribute the ass kicking to a more powerful amp, but I am also pretty sure his stuff couldn't touch the JBL driver quality, even though he had the more scientific driver cabinet.

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The great thing about playing music is that we can each find the system that best suits our own ears, budget and musical tastes. Both B&O and the other brands you mentioned produce some great products, each of which will have their strengths and weaknesses. If you find a system that sounds good in your home for your music, then I suggest there is no need to upgrade! Enjoy your music and thanks for watching!

    • @Mikexception
      @Mikexception 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is a big challenge to make assumption about top system sounding with less than few hours and it requires very different kinds of tracks . For example I listen to my TV (B&O) not through it's own audio which is not there at all but I connected it to my own system of Uher Hi FI Din 4500 speakers , Uher preamp, and Dutch made Arena vinatge ampliture with germanium end transistors equipped with good loudness correction. Which is up to me is as good as hard imagine,. .
      While I listen to normal programs when there is no quality music material it sounds just as every good TV should . Because for movies and news it will not show any amazing sounding. Listener is suddenly surprised when programm is switched to channel devoted exlusively for music or even better when there is music for ads. . - It is like listening to different set 3 shelves higher. ., . For that reason such top systems are never boring to listen but they are hard to assume in short time.

    The record player is very nice - not convinced about colour choices but certainly striking. Equally the speakers are stunning. The cabinet is fine but I could not believe it when you opened the door to see Ikea hinges. B&O cabinet making previously has been top drawer and I would imagine the past generations being aghast at this. I do have a few 400x turntables and the one being used at present is on a Beosystem 2400 stand. Still looks great and no Ikea bits. I have collected B&O for years and the selling features have always been styling and good audio quality with good ergonomics. In my view, they have lost their way. Voice control should be present and the doors on this device would have been considerably more special, for instance, they had been made of the same wood but as tambour doors as on the Beovision 3000. You could still have the logo but use touch sensitive aluminium like the Beocenter 2 and open the doors with a touch. Re-instill the magic. It could be made to echo the moving frets of the Beolab 28s. If you could afford the 4000c , Core and BL28s, the cabinet would not be an issue.

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I appreciate that there is always room for further improvement, but when you see this in person it is clearly in a different league to Ikea in terms of materials and build quality. I would also love to see the tambour doors used again in a new B&O product, that would be very nice!

    • @soundsheavenly

      Yes, this is an amazing system. B&O do sell the turntable separately as Beogram 4000c, or your existing Beogram 4002, 4004 or 6000 can be refurbished by B&O to the same "as new" specifications as the one shown here. It begs few questions:
    Does the TT have its own phono preamp or were we listening through an external phono preamp and what is it then?
    What amplifier was used to drive the speakers ?
    Did they make a matching amplifier ?

    Halo £700 , 28s £11 -12 k , Core £700 , used 4000 with a view to complete refurbishment £4k = £17,400 plus you could commission a specialist carpenter a real high end specialist to create a bespoke cabinet ……
    The price is highly inflated .
    What it is is unique and most importantly a collectors item due to the scarcity of the system only 100 have been manufactured?
    I believe if this system was put into mass production or at least as mainstream as BnO go the price would be radically lower .
    The type of people who will buy these systems will not be perturbed by outlaying 25 or 30 k over the physical value of the product. This is a unique or elitist status symbol for those with more money than sense .
    It’s also the most beautiful HIFI system I’ve ever seen !

      @@soundsheavenly that’s the point of its manufacture Steve people with ridiculous amounts of income will purchase this beautiful piece. It’s the most beautiful system I have ever seen it’s astoundingly, jaw droppingly handsome !!! I Would wear white gloves using it !!!!!!!!
      As I said if it was in full production you’d expect the figures i mentioned above , maybe a couple of thousand for the cabinet or three max ……..but it’s a collectors piece .
      Not something I really agree with , as much as I appreciate the undeniably beauty of Bang and Olufsen aesthetics which is important when avoiding ugly coffin speakers and black boxes , the sonics are always the ultimate want . I simply love the BnO sound , not tiring or harsh and as smooth as a chilled pint of dark ale on a hot day !!!!!!
      But yes this one is for Dudes with dosh 💰 as beautiful as it is it’s sonic capabilities do not match it’s price which is contrary to what some who do not understand BnO . I think BnO due to sonic capabilities, longevity of the product, unsurpassed build quality and frighteningly brilliant design offer in relative terms most certainly, value for money .

    All that's needed now is to make this turntable a part of their main line-up of products and add back in a CD player.
