  • The H22 gets a new shifter box. I made the opening cut a while back and left it open for a few weeks. I finally have complete the fabrication side of the project but I still need to remove everything, repaint and reassemble. I started by making a cut big enough for the bottom end of the shifter, basically allowing a good clearance. After i purchased some scrap metal, made up a nice box and welded it together. Lined up and inserted the box and welded it to the floor. I drilled out an opening for the cables, no ugly cut or anything, nice and clean and functional. It honestly came out nice. The headers got a fresh coat of paint and also look better than the attempt at polishing them. Merry Christmas

Awesome video. Cool to see you welding things together instead of bolting down and forgetting about it. Would be nice to weld a nut on the under side of the car for the mounting brackets for the shifter to make it easier to remove or service.

Agreed, I have it tightened down now, I should throw a few good tacks to hold it there. I did hate installing them, especially alone can be difficult

Merry Christmas brother! Have a great time! Quick question, why did you decide on the H22, vs K or B series?

What shifter cables did you use? Im using a 99 prelude an some reason second gear has a further throw/springy. An has a slight grind if i try shifting around 3k rpm

What shift cables are those?? I’m doing the same thing. My cable do not have the same grommet to bolt under chassis. Very informative video. Thanks!

Just bought my first Honda ever. 96 Civic with H22a1 swap. Is it possible to switch to the newer prelude cables and shifter and is it worth the trouble. This one engages ok but sometimes 3rd you got really bop it in to engage. Have heard zip tying the cables, in forums, helps to eliminate some vagueness on shifter feel. Any input from vet honda guys would be appreciated.
