No lauding over Steve Jablonsky's music hurts. The guy gave us five beautiful, exciting, emotional, iconic masterpieces back to back to back to back to back.
I know, I kept writing it into the script but couldn’t find a way to make it flow right, but I adore every score he does in the franchise, even the last knight. But thank you for mentioning it for me! :)
Somehow even as the movies got worse, the scores just got continually better. The score for Last Knight is some of the most gorgeous music ever put to film.
easily my favourite, but I think we were robbed of a team up or fair duel between Optimus and Megatron. He got killed so easily. edit : we haven't got a proper 1vs1 fight between Optimus and Megatron in a movie until TFONE TF1 : Megatron overpowered Optimus because Optimus went defensive to protect Sam TFROTF: Optimus got backstabbed after a 1v3 fight TFDOTM: Optimus killed a weakened/injured Megatron under 10 seconds TFAOE : ? TFTLK: fight scene ends after like 3 hit and Megatron got spartan kicked
31:30 I have a little head canon where the reason bee acts so immature in AOE is him not coping well with the death of Sam which he probably witnessed at the hands of cemetery wind, but was able to move on by the time of TLK
The internet can never make me hate the first three Bayformers films. In a post-MCU movie landscape where many franchises consist of reboots, terrible CGI, nostalgia-bait fanservice, and armies running at each other in a featureless gray field, I’ve come to appreciate Michael Bay’s Transformers movies as an unwavering commitment to stylish, unhinged, and extremely polished summer action.
Amazing retrospective bro, I agree with you on practically everything. Also thanks for bringing up the point about DVD sales, that is one thing a lot of people overlooked, these movies, especially the original trilogy, should be getting a lot more praise, they are the reason we still have the franchise today
It is basically the same as this: You, the unpopular kid, tell a joke or good story but nobody laughs or applauds; the popular kid tells the same thing as you but everyone laughs and applauds him.
@@thesilentscreamer1595 Deadpool: Wrecked 'em? Darn near killed 'em! Audience: Ugh. Minion: Wrecked 'em? Huh! Darn near killed 'em! Audience: (Laughs and Applauds) Deadpool: Yeesh, talk about breaking the suspension of disbelief.
33:12 you didn’t have to hit so hard, but I’m glad you did, and I’m even more glad I wasn’t alone in those cold days. Thanks for the tears bro, it’s really good to know someone feels the same as me
I love that you were able to resonate with the ending, and I’m glad that these movies were both there to give us comfort. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video! :)
My ranking 1. Transformers Dark of the Moon 2. Transformers 3. Transformers Revenge of the Fallen 4. Transformers Age of Extinction 5. Transformers The last Knight
I'm so glad the bayformers movies are getting more and more love lately. I feel like whenever people talk about these films the consensus has always been that it bastardised G1 and that ruined their childhood. But for people who were kids when these movies came out, this was OUR childhood.
A lot of older transformers fans at the time consisted of manchildren who only want transformers to look and act a certain way (that being the 80s Saturday morning cartoon). That attitude is still big in the fanbase, though not as much as before. For a franchise all about transformations, the fanbase really is adverse to it.
I feel like the Bayverse is going through something similar to the Star Wars prequel trilogy, where the kids that watched it growing up are now old enough that they’re spreading their appreciation for these films that we grew up with.
Dude, you don't have to ask me to keep loving these movies more than I already do. Thank you for making the video that people like us have always wanted to look for to watch on TH-cam! ❤
ROTF megs is my favourite megatron, despite being megatronus's underdog he still leads the antagonist side in the film and calls the shots, he's also more level headed in this film too after being "rebooted" in the last film, thanks to his ego going crazy after years of frozen stasis lol. I think ROTF as a film will be as tolerated as the 1st film if Bay didn't decide to incorporate his "extra scenes"
I could always justify Optimus being brutal because in the first 3 movies the war on Cybertron is portrayed as more of a genocide and Optimus now Hates decepticons because of the brutality they used against the Autobots.
He has his friends die and you see the toll it takes on him. The autobots are not soldiers, and were not built to be. They had to adapt to a function they were never designed for. The decepticons were built for war, and the two were meant to balance each other. The autobots would support them, and the decepticons would shield them from the horrors they were not meant for. Jazz , Ironhide and Ratchet were his boys, and he lost all 3 of them over time. Rachet was killed in the most brutal manner of the bunch, and I get why he just loses it. In the first film he tries reason with Megatron, and was willing die for his failure to protect the Allspark , and what it will mean for the earth. In Revenge of the fallen, he smashes Megatron, but let's him survive. By the Dark of the moon, Megatron offers a truce, and Optimus of the 2007 would gladly taken that even if it probably would just be a chance for megatron to rebuilt his grasp on things. Megatron says, "who would you be without me? "Optimus is done playing games, and says "Time to find out!" (Megatron needs learn to stop asking questions that set for dramatic answers.) His anger and swift destruction of Megatron is completely justified. As is him taking out Sentinel as the guy betrayed him, and killed Ironhide. The bayverse just had the violence scaled up, to where war is hell, and there was really no good way to contain most of the decepticons, so what was Optimus supposed to do with them? The 1985 film murdered characters left and right, and fans defend that movie like crazy despite that. Optimus uses and orders lethal force and potentially lethal force thru out G1, so let's not pretend Optimus was some sort of pacifist. The Decepticons survived what he did, but wasn't from lack of trying. He blew up a mine with them inside with hopes it would kill them all.. Pushed all the decepticons into lava in heavy metal war. Blew up Megatron's ship full of energon in Ultimate doom. He mowed down several Decepticons in Dawn War. He dismantled multiple Decepticons in the 1986 film to point they ceased to function, and had to be rebuilt by Unicron. He blew up a couple giant monsters. Characters in the show have some major plot armor going, but characters take some heavy damage that should be game over. (Triple Takeover Blitzwing smashes several Autobots flat in tank mode, then makes their bodies into a throne. They all survive..somehow.)
@@morgn1505 Happy be of service! I think each version of Transformers brings something to the table. Each time it adds pieces of lore than carry forward, or designs of a character. Incase of the bayfilms, the Allspark gets mentioned in following series, and Barricade and Blackout are modeled after the bay incarnations of them. Transformers is more popular than it's ever been as a result of the bay films. It directly inspired Transformers Animated as it and Transformers Prime took cues from it. To pretend Transformers would be better off if Michael bay never touched it just a laughable thought sentiment. The 1986 film was a bomb, and made the series less popular as it really upset falls. It did way more damage to the property than Michael Bay ever did. In this internet revisionist history they will prop it up as this godsend because it's a cult hit, but let's be real, the writing is a mess as the movie blows it's load in first 20 mins, and becomes a direction planet hop till the movie rapidly wraps up everything it ends. Basically every series that follows G1 has far better writing, and Bay films might be simple, but I can draw thru line of what each story is about. The 1986 film was sell toys...telling a story was a very distant second. The series didn't get a shot in the arm till beast Wars happen as it was basically in a coma pop culture wise after the 1986 film flopped, and season 4 ended. They were sitll making toys the entire time, but like no one really talked about transformers or cared about them. People complain about the Bay films having alot of humans, especially the first one, but they don't factor in as the first film had a very low budget for the time. Having the Autobots on screen as cars, and Humans doing human things stops the movie from blowing millions of dollars. Bay does alot of make his dollar go far , as he made sure the Autobots were all Chevy Vehicles to get them paid for by them. He has the US Miltiary play a heavy role as they give him access to their vehicles and troops, as they know this kind of film as a recruitment movie. (My nephew saw the 2007 film when he was 5...he joined the military heh.) There was alot of intelligent decisions from a movie making stand point that crybabies who understand nothing about film making completely dismiss. Sorry it costs lots of money have CGI robots on screen, so when they are, they are blowing up something. I get these characters have more to them than that, but unlike the Avengers where an actor being on screen in their none super modes is cheap to film. The Transformers are used to advance the action scenesfor the story first and foremost. If you want more Transformers heavy thing, you probably want something animated like Transformers one or the shows they have made. As someone who has worked in the film industry I respect the hell out of Michael Bay. (also him shutting up Hugo Weaving was awesome.) He is self aware of what he's making,(He's a commerical wher ehe is more or less mocking himself th-cam.com/video/yj9yt1M7S-8/w-d-xo.html ) as he never claims be making high art. He makes movies to entertain and escape real life. He succeeds at that. They're a fireworks show, and he gets it done. Are they perfect? no. They still haven't made the transformers movie in my head yet either, but I don't think they can afford to yet. (Ai might be able to in a few years hehe.) But you could do alot worse than anything Bay has made. Anyone who claims his films are worst ever has not seen enough terrible movies. Just watch the Howling 3, and you will be claiming Revenge of the Fallen is citizen Kane by comparison. Lastly the Transformers films have pushed what people do with Special effects. TV shows like the CW Flash and others had special effects on par or better with early 2000 movies. This because the technology keeps advancing, and these movies did alot of that heavy lifting. (Devastator was so intense it melted the computer that rendered it.) We see more and more Transformers as the series goes on because it becomes cheaper to do it. The techiques and tools being done get better, and everything about the process improves. In another universe where Michael Bay didn't make the 2007 Transformers film, special effects are probably 20 years behind where they are now. This has impacted all kinds of entertainment, from Video games, tv shows and movies. I glad this is the timeline we live in.
@@Lastjustice Finally, someone with intelligent that understands the Micheal bay Transformers movies. I absolutely agree with everything you said. You casually destroyed all Micheal Bay haters just in two comments. The CGI and Action in this movies are literally unparalleled great and unmatched till this day. I watch them as a kid with my two brother and always loved them and never understood why people hate them so much, but I think they are just a loud minority. Micheal Bay has literally created a generation of transformers movies.
This guy is literally me, I got into those 5 movie series(Including Star Wars)I got into the franchise through the 2007 movie and it was the 1st movie I saw in cinema's
You are the first person I have found that likes Revenge of the Fallen. I have always loved ROTF but never hear anyone else who does. Thank you for that it made my day!
Revenge of the Fallen is my first of the bunch. I think some of the rougher edges could been ironed out if the writers strike didn't happen, but these movies are like a freight train at the top of a hill, once they start moving, they can't be stopped from going forward. The action scenes are my favorite of the bunch. (The Ps3 game of it is a ton of fun as well.)
From one genuine enjoyer of Michael Bay's Transformers Movies to another, I tip my hat to you, brother. Like you, I came to know about Transformers through the first movie in 2007 and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL OF THEM despite their obvious flaws and inconsistent storyline. Most of all, these movies brought my (in my biased opinion) favorite version of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. For Age of Extinction, I think you forgot to mention that Michael Bay WANTED to end this universe with a Trilogy but the Studio (Paramount and Hasbro I think) demanded him to continue making more due to the insane profitability of Transformers movies. So, he reluctantly made them and (in a way) engineered them to fail. At least, that is according to what I remember. These sources are quite old so I am not entirely sure if they are accurate. Overall, I genuinely love Bayformers Movies and I am glad that more and more people are coming around to appreciate them instead of JUMPING on the Hate Train and bashing them to death. Yes, I know about Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts but to me, these two new movies simply cannot hold a candle to Bayformers Movies, especially when it comes to the special effects and transformation sequences.
I tip my hat back, good sir. Also Bayverse Bumblebee is my favorite version too, I think he's actually better than the G1 version, yeah I'm sure that's going to piss some older fans off but it is what it is lol.
@@aapsentertainment3159 I know right? I understand why many people, especially older TF fans bash these movies, but I've felt that their contempt for them is really uncalled for and these movies deserve some credit. Hell, even if the 4th and 5th movies are bad in terms of storytelling and consistency, I still think that they are more enjoyable than most Hollywood garbage nowadays. After all, I come to the theater to be entertained, NOT TO have stupid garbage like most Hollywood movies (with some exceptions) shoved into my face. Also, I forgot to mention this: TF - Dark of the Moon originally had an alternate ending in which Optimus Prime and Megatron made a truce. If I remember correctly, that ending was leaked somehow before the premiere date so the studio HAD TO change it. If it were the case, it would open up so many good stories and plots for future TF movies. Honestly, it was one of the clear examples of how studio interferences could ruin potentially good movies.
In a sense, you can thank Michael Bay for making Transformers popular again, which Studio Trigger acknowledged in their 40th Anniversary Transformers video.
I grew up on the Unicron trilogy. When that ended, my interest for Transformers slowly started to fade until they announced the 07 movie. I didn’t care for it at the moment because it brought in original G1 characters that I didn’t care for bc Hot Shot was my favorite character still. But when I finally came around to it, boy did this series suck me right back into Transformers all over again. I will always love the Bayformers for rekindling my love of Transformers, a hobby that has really defined me as a child.
Your personal experience with the Bay-Formers films shows me that I’ve overlooked them. I love transformers, but you grew up with this different take. Hopefully they keep the franchise going on and on 👍
Transformers will never end, mate. There are too many stories to tell, toys to engineer, and people to make happy. I personally don't agree that the bayverse saved the franchise. Transformers were going strong before the bayverse movies had even been a concept. I won't say that the bayverse movies were bad. They were enjoyable, and I collected the heap of the toys and all of the movies, too. Those films definitely brought the transformers brand back into the mainstream, but the fan base would still be here. The number of genuine fans the bayverse movies either produced or brought back to the collector scene was absolutely incredible. There is certainly a lot us fans should be thankful for when it comes to the bayverse, despite some of the downfalls Thanks for the video, mate. I appreciate being reminded that G1 isn't the only thing in transformers. Despite the fact I only collect the G1 Masterpiece cartoon roster. And merc.
My dad showed me the first transformers movie in 2007, I was 7 back then and since then I haven't stopped watching them. As you mentioned in the start that a year does not go bye without you watching them, same with me, I just can't get enough of them :D. Now I'm 24 and I have spent so much money on the toys and i don't plan on stopping.
@@aapsentertainment3159 I took my oldest nephew when he was 5 to see the first movie in 2007. I figured they;d butcher it about the 2007 Transformers movie till I saw the first trailer...I never ate my own words harder. It spoke my inner 5 year old, so I had bring my outer 5 year old with me. He was blown away, and thanked me before the movie was even over for taking him. I was soo grateful neither him or his older sister asked me what Sam's happy time was haha. We watched all 5 films in theaters together. Even the Last Knight as I didn't have any real expections of it being good, but it was our thing, so we finished it together before he went off the military. (He brings the rain in real life...I can't help but think i might set on this path hehe.) We enjoyed as fireworks show. I mostly enjoy the bayfilms, though I think they could stopped at Dark of the moon and been good. I just really wish they'd stop murdering autobots from G1. Jazz( I ironicly broke my toy of Jazz in half while transforming him, he was my first full sized Transformer toy so it really saddened me when he broke. no I don't want two pieces...) , Ironhide(I love ironhide in both g1 and the bayfilms, it soured my enjoyment of dark of the moon watching him go down.), and Rachet(his death was just so brutal.)....I still have PTSD from the 86 film, and had real trouble watching them get offed. When Optimus said, one shall stand, one shall fall...I winced as I was like please do don't this to me again..I don't want to cry in front of my nephew. I get they need have casualties, but that's what characters like the twins are for. No one would been sad if Sentinel Prime or Lockdown tore them in half. Annoying characters are perfect fodder.
Its funny how sam's arc in the 3 movies is kinda the same as raimi spiderman. Pt 1. High schooler gets thrust into a situation thats almost other worldly. Pt 2. College student tries going back to a normal life but gets pulled back into the action to be a hero. Pt 3. Guy Riding the high of being a hero and gets humbled and has to rescue his love interest after she gets in danger
when people mention that prime is so much more violent in these movies i often point to the decepticons also being the most evil we’ve ever seen them. become a monster to stop a monster.
i think these movies are so easy to like because the sam as the main character is just your everyday dude, hes just your average guy just like you or me, like you said hes not super strong, hes not some crazy marksman, hes your average teenager/ young adult, he just wants a cool car, and a pretty girlfriend, he acts like any of us would if we were put into his position, screaming and running away, your average joe isnt some crazy powerfull, crazy skilled superhero
Just because he's "relatable" doesn't mean he is a good character! He is boring and generic. These movies objectively suck and aren't as good as this dumb fanboy thinks.
I think the only thing u missed was a nod to the sound department and acknowledge the superb job they did for the various sound effects and the musical notes used
One of the reasons Dotm and avengers are similar is probably that they are made by the same vfx company (ILM) and where reusing some things so DOTM walked for avengers endgame to run
I'm so glad this appeared in my recommendation feed! This video was spot on and I enjoyed every second of it! I'm super happy I found another person who enjoys the Bayverse!❤🔥😍😍 I always say this whenever people question why I love the Bayverse, "if I didn't watch the Bayverse I wouldn't be a HUGE Transformers fan today." I grew up watching this franchise and I remember every theater experience I had with the Bayverse. I agree with all of your points but I like to share mine: Bayverse Trilogy: 1. Transformers (2007) - My second favorite Bayverse film. This movie is awesome and I really enjoy watching it every time. The ending of this film is TOP NOTCH and I don't think it can ever be beaten. I have to say Optimus Prime's speech at the end of this film is by far the best speech in the entire franchise. 2. Revenge of the Fallen - It's still an enjoyable movie but I think one of the reasons why it's so criticized is because it's a scavenger hunt while the Autobots remained as background characters. I like Skids and Mudflap because it always reminds me of my brother relationship with my little brother. Except for the racism of course. 3. Dark of the Moon - My FAVORITE film in the Bayverse. This movie has it all! I recall Michael Bay said he wanted to improve on the sequel because of how bad ROTF was and improved he did! I didn't realize that Sentinel Prime's evil plot twist was predictable. When I watched DOTM in the theater, I was HELLA surprised when he shot Ironhide in the back and killed him. Bayverse Sequels (I recently considered AOE & TLK an alternate universe sequel films to the Bayverse trilogy because of Theorymus' video about the original ending for DOTM and how it was meant to be a trilogy) 4 (1). Age of Extinction - This movie had an interesting story and good characters. I love the storyline where the Autobots are being hunted down by a rogue CIA unit and Lockdown, Attinger, and Savoy are great villains. The only criticism I can give this movie is the Dinobots. The Dinobots are cool in this film but they don't feel like characters, just tools to be used in the film. 5 (2). The Last Knight - I have to agree with you on this one. This film is the weakest one of the franchise. I'm not going to lie it had a lot of interesting concepts like the Transformers being involved in human history but the execution was terrible. The film felt like it was juggling everything but sadly each one was falling and Mr. Bay was left with one thing to juggle in the end. It's sad we didn't get to explore more on the Transformers being involved in human history because I love the WW2 segment in TLK. I'm a huge WW2 fan. The other reason why I love the Bayverse is Steve Jablonksky's scores! The Bayverse is the reason why he's among my favorite music composers! "Arrival to Earth" is still my favorite soundtrack from him and in the Bayverse/franchise!😍😍❤🔥❤🔥 In conclusion, I love these films. They will hold a very special place in my heart!💖💖 I also like to say this, the Bayverse may be the most criticized in the Transformers franchise but let's not forget Michael Bay modernized Transformers. Enough said. I look up to Bayverse Trilogy Optimus Prime and he's one of my heroes I live by. Yes, he may be violent here and there but his heroism, kindness, father figure, etc. Reminds me that I want to be him. To this day I still copy his mannerisms and character.❤🔥💖 Thank you so much for making this video!😍😍 You increased my confidence in loving these films more and I'm going to start by not apologizing for loving them. I'm sorry if my comment is long but if you and any other people have read this comment till the end. Thank you and Till All Are One!🥰
Till are all one indeed! I loved this comment (and I read the whole thing without skipping anything) and I’m really glad you mentioned Jablonksky’s score because I wanted to touch upon them a lot more in the video but couldn’t find a way to do it properly. I love all of the scores he’s done in the series, but DOTM is my favorite by far, I’ve been listening to the score since the movie came out in 2011 and I still listen to it on a consistent bases, and of course while editing this video I had to blast that on in the background, along with the other scores as well. But thank you for not only taking the time to watch my video but taking the time to write this comment! :)
@@aapsentertainment3159 OMG!😱 I didn't expect you to reply! Thank you!😍🥰 DOTM is my favorite and GOAT in the Bayverse too. The film is also my mood. If I'm sad, I play the scene where the Autobots leave Earth, if I feel badass I play the Highway chase, Optimus Prime vs. the Driller, if I'm angry I play Optimus' rage where he kills all the Decepticons, Shockwave, and shoots the control pillar, etc. I even sometimes act out each scene in real life. Hehehe.😅🤭 Thank you again for replying back and no problem! Till All Are One!❤🔥💖😍🥰
While there are some things I agree with and others I disagree with, I respect the passion and enjoyment you have for these movies. As a Transformers fan myself, I grew up with these movies and I cherish many memories related to them. And even though I currently consider fair to call the Bayverse mediocre or bad, I do think that these films tend to be overhated (except the last knight) by most. And on a personal note, I share your enthusiasm for Dark of the Moon, it is the only Bayverse movie that I genuinely feel passion for and the only one I consider to be unironically good. It is my second favorite Transformers movie, only behind Transformers One. I do like Revenge of the Fallen though, more or less, is decent to me.
this is just a masterpiece of a vid, its so well edited and the pacing is so good like im watching an official documentary abt bay movies lol, keep it up man
The franchise was not the same after third movie, I just act like that 4 and 5 never existed.. like plot and background will change every time and tries for life to put itself into random history
The "haters" secretly adore these films. Hell! AngryJoe from the AngryJoeShow literally defended Revenge of the Fallen back in 2009 to the grave. He even went as far as to say that people disliking the film were quote: "Film snobs" (video no longer exists) figures! Honestly, hate gets clicks. It promotes engagement and makes money. That's it! Although, I do believe some of the Gwuners that ridicule the Bayverse. That's just nostalgia talking, though. And even THEY watch the TH-cam clips, end up in theatres, etc. Edit: Just, FYI. Jack Reynor IS Irish by the way! He isn't trying to be Irish, nor is he struggling with the accent. Different regions have different accents. Some being thicker than others.
Amazing video! I've always felt that these movies, orat least the first 4, were way over hated. It is so good to see more video like these that aren't just hate on these underrated films. Than you for making such a wonderful and well spoken video! And man, that ending! You out into words things that I didn't really know how to put. I had a lot of those same feeling when those movies were coming out, specifically the first 3. That was very heartfelt and I really connected with you there.
TF4 is my fav film out of them, i love the post war idea for the story and how the humans shown their evil faces, is really accruate to waht would happen in real life
Im always gonna love these movies. Regardless of their storyline they are fucking awesome and will always be that way. The designs are sick as hell. Dark of the Moon will always be top tier for me. That opening scene is too damn cool. The highway chase scene?? Optimuss usual badassery during the fighting in the city??? Like COME ON. Sentinal Prime??? Too fucking awesome 😂😂😂❤❤❤
33:07 I feel this so much right now. I’ve watched all 5 films two or three times each in the last month or so cause they’re so comforting and fun. When life’s beating you down, which it is for me, these movies are definitely a warm tight hug
I feel like the characterization of Optimus Prime was people’s main problem after 2007. The first film got his personality right: a disgruntled old wise warrior who cares about innocent people. I would’ve been more receptive to Optimus’ downward mental spiral if it was better written. We could’ve seen more of Prime’s internal turmoil and his thought processes, but nope. A lot of the time, the characters were usually treated as just cool action spectacles.
His characterization was the best thing about these movies the only thing that changed with him was how he fights which in the context of the bayverse makes sense people just want to complain about something that’s not a big deal a character worth complaining about is bumblebee
Let's be honest though, Optimus was the only really memorable thing about these movies and is a more realistic interpretation of a warrior batting a centuries long war with animalistic enemies with no sympathy for suffering( Decipticons in these are brutal in how they kill humans) ,the rest of the transformers are given little screen time or personality besides maybe Bumblebee, not to mention nearly all them are killed off in goofy deaths, and the human cast is pretty annoying though i didn't mind Lennox and Cade and Sam had a few okay moments even though he got more annoying after the first movie.
I remember in the scene in the first movie where the autobots are hiding in Sam's house, people didn't like it because they were acting like children or being goofy, that "they shouldn't act like that" And then you look at the g1 cartoon where there are several moments in which the characters behave exactly like this.
As a Gen Xer who grew up watching G1 in the 80s, i absolutely abhorred what Micheal Bay did with these movies. But moving beyond their 'prime' and as these movies age, i think they aged really well. If you had no clue who the G1 Transformers were, and you didn't care about good storytelling, they're absolutely astonishing feats of modern movie making. Truth be told, Michael Bay saved the Transformers franchise, making it even more popular than what it was. As a result, we got tons of new shows, merch, and toys to collect. All of which has kept the fandom alive and thriving. Even 'Transformers One' (a MUCH better Transformers movie) owes it's dues to the Bayformer series. Josh Nizzi (the guy who designed all the Bayformers), is an absolute genius that helped bring this Bayformer universe to life. But, storytelling wise...one could write pages upon pages of questions concerning the terrible writing and plot holes. As with all bad movies, they will always have a cult following, and i will keep re-watching all of them once, every year or two....because they're just fun movies.
I always loved watching the movies, but overtime I grew to have as much disappointment as I have love for them, they are cool dumb fun, but there was also so much we could have gotten for the movies that we didn't I still love Sam Witwicky.
I grew up with the 07 Transformers and love movies 1, 2, and 3 but TF 4 and 5 went from Humans being friends with the Autobots to Let’s just kill all of them… like what?… why are you trying to kill the Autobots that saved your planet, and why are you listening to some corrupt group of people telling you to kill them?, and TF 5 just felt like a fast and furious situation where they extended the series too long with a storyline/ timeline that wasn’t explained, and they also reused a scene or two from ROTF.
Yeah I was so disappointed in the last knight when I was watching it in theaters like I literally couldn’t believe how bad the editing when it came to that submarine scene you could clearly tell it was the exact same scene re used from TF2! And holy shit the dialogue was so bad I couldn’t count how many times they used the exact same voices lines and deception models that died in previous films like wtf?
Man, if you loved the ending for 3, the ending for 5 will blow your brains as your every neuron bounces in awe. Never seen a bigger ending for a movie to this day.
bro basically has all my childhood favorites minus the Tron series (and i didn't see nolan's stuff until later but it was still a part of my life because my dad was watching and loving them as they would release. the music was always on)
THIS IS SO REAL. These movies (the first three in my opinion) are masterpieces with excellent writing, witty dialogue and humor and scenarios, and extremely rewatchable and I also watched a bunch of the original 2007 one with my dad when I was younger so it holds a lot of nostalgia. I love how people are starting to enjoy them as well it makes me happy
Thank you for making this video. I always felt guilty for enjoying these movies. None of them were perfect by any means but I appreciate you vocalizing mine and others' thoughts that the original trilogy and even the fourth film, to an extent, doesn't deserve the obscene amount of hate they get. Also, I was that kid too, who grew up in a troubled household with parents always fighting and feeling like an outcast and had Optimus as someone to look up to. I related strongly to that heartfelt segment there at the end. Again, thanks.
I’m glad that there was something out there for both of us to make us feel comforted in those rough moments. Thanks for taking time to check out the video! :)
One of the biggest issues with these movies(mainly the last two) that I almost never see people complain about is the inclusion of Grimlock having no purpose because of Optimus' more brutal take in these films. Grimlock has always been the aggressive leader who always criticises Optimus for being too soft, but Optimus being exactly like how Grimlock wants him to be defeats the whole purpose of his inclusion, and they ruin him by making him a mindless pet who needs to be dominated by Optimus, who threatens to kill him for no reason. "Hey, doggy. I know I am invading this area that you were hiding in and were doing nothing wrong, but I'm about to give you the PETA treatment if you don't do what I say." EDIT: It's been a while since I seen either AoE and TLK, and I have misremembered them captured in Lockdown's ship for thinking they hid in a crashed ship cave from the opening of the fifth one. Either way, I still stand by my point of his lack of purpose due to Optimus already being the ruthless leader.
@@557deadpoolWrong. While in a lot of cartoons, Grimlock was "the dumb one" a lot of the iterations of him outside of cartoons were intelligent. Look at Fall of Cybertron for example. That Grimlock was so intelligent, that even Shockwave was surprised he still knew how to talk after the experimentations damaged his mind. And that is how Grimlock is and should be. Someone who in his mind, is really smart, but would rather be the brute. Much like Hulk being very intelligent but seeing no purpose of using Banner's knowledge or having a hard time presenting what goes on in his mind.
The pet thing started in TLK, AOE was Optimus trying to release them from the crashed ship for help, but considering they were captured for a long while they *probably* didn't want to be instantly bossed around by a stranger (depending on their knowledge of him) It's not the same type of story as other iterations, but in fairness the story has always varied with them. Just wanted to make sure the AOE situation is interpreted fairly here.
I don't think I've ever seen a video that so perfectly accentuates my love and adoration for these movies quite like this one, down to the period of my life where I tried to convince myself that these movies sucked and I shouldn't enjoy them. Thank you for this.
Never let anyone try to convince you to hate the things you love, our unique love for the specific things we enjoy makes us human. I'm glad you were able to still find joy in the franchise in the end. And thank you taking time to watch my video it is much appreciated! :)
Thank you for this video. My childhood with Transformers was Cybertron, Prime, G1 and the Bayverse movies. And I love all 5 movies to this day, and "Age of Extinction" remains my favorite of them all.
I trully love how people are start doing this big videos showing love to this movie franchise. It feels so good people giving anything but hate to the movies that i grew up watching
Yes I will always love the Bayverse movies with a passion and I think they are great films. Anybody who says they are bad films is simply unintelligent and not worth arguing with.
Michael bay is like Nickelback. People online claim they are so terrible, but yet both keep making tons of money and selling product. People online are just more vocal about hating these films than the casual movie goer is about their feelings who keep seeing them. The casual movie goer, just enjoys them for what they are, a fireworks display to escape the world for a bit without being preached to. The Bay films never sent out to be high art that redefines the human condition, but they do succeed at what they aim to be, Entertaining. Something many recent films for forgot how to be.
I just watched your video and want to tell you that you made a great job talking about these movies! Personally, I grew up watching these films and, still to this day, I loved them. They were surely not the most intelligent movies out there but I always found something that was done with passion in them. These movies just get to much hate in my opinion and honestly, I prefer to watch over again Micheal Bay's Transformers rather than some of the actual days soulless blockbusters. Great job man!
Thank you for taking time to check out my video, and I agree that these movies are superior to most of the constant soulless blockbusters we've been getting recently, which is why I get even more mad when people call this movies soulless because you can clearly tell that Bay had a passion for making these movies. (Except for 5 lol)
Absolutely amazing video bro. The first four movies I absolutely adore and I appreciate you covering Sam’s arc in the first 3 films I don’t care what people say as well his arc is top 3 for me as well. These films also helped get me through some tough times in my life and I’m so glad that these films have such a dedicated fan base. I wish you so much success with your channel. You just earned a subscriber.
While Bay did Revolutionize the Franchise in a New Way like the Action, the CGI, having good Characters, and it Cemented how Optimus and Bumblebee are Today, to me it’s a Underrated Masterpiece that’s probably a Popcorn Flick and has alot of Redeeming Qualities, however I’m not going lie after watching the Last Knight I come to a realization with so many of the Bayverse Flaws, Bay does make special effects but when it comes to executing the Story and Characters, let’s just say it’s a Mess and I can see why they rebooted the Live Action Version because it came to a Point that there’s nothing left to do, my rankings on the Bayverse is: 5. The Last Knight 4. Revenge of the Fallen 3. Age of Extinction 2. Transformers 2007 1. Dark of the Moon
I am probably late but I really want to say this Michael Bay's Transformer is a franchise that is more of the most Bigg. Est parts of my life, especially "Dark Of The Moon." as a kid, Optimus Prime was my lord and savior and boy. The way he slaughtered the decepticons, especially when he killed megatron. I called that cinema!!! "Wat will you be without me, prime?" - megatron 🤓 "Time to find out." - Optimus Prime 🗿
Oh my god thank you! Everything in these films were awesome The story the character development and just insane visuals, they connected all the films and could have done a banger if number 6 came out to connect everything and why they were in the photos in the last knight ❤️
Also wanted to add just imagine you fighting a war for millions of years, the one thing that could save your planet has been sent away you’ve lost so many friends and family your homes your cities and now on another world that same threat is threatening to do the same to this innocent world as they did yours of course Optimus is not gonna stand for it 😂 then throughout the films the cons continue to test his patience and then humans pushed him over in the 4th lol
I respect the bay films for reviving the franchise as a whole and I’m truly glad that you love them and get so much enjoyment through them. You should definitely never feel ashamed for liking them. I just personally can’t overlook the plot holes the lazy writing and what honestly feels like disrespect to fans and the franchise before them. Many of the characters have almost nothing to them other than rage autobots and deceptions I feel like you giving the writing maybe a little more credit than it deserves especially with Sam I’m sorry but I can’t love Sam no matter what anyone says And the awful humor does not work for me it feels like disrespect to the transformers legacy and every time these movies are brought up I thank God I watched them alone so I didn’t have to share the cataclysmic cringe If I ever watch these again it will purely be for the action because that is truly amazing I haven’t seen a lot of action sequences that compare in any way tbh Keep loving these movies never apologize for liking them I just hope you can understand why I personally do not
Good video. Very relatable, I grew up watching these movies through my whole childhood. I think making bumblebee a main character for the autobots in the first movie was perfect and making him funny humored made it relatable for a younger audience. Plus who don’t like a 2 door V8 muscle car. Literally most the stuff you said was exactly how I felt, loved all the 3 OG movies. Last few idk bout but I’ll definitely keep watching them yearly as I already do too. Actually rewatching them rn lol
Can we agree that the best Transformers are G1, live Michael Bay (the Trilogy, not AoE or TLK), Prime, and One is the best Transformers Franchises? And the WORST Transformers from the Franchises are Kiss Player and the crossover of My Little Pony. Like Why!? Terminator makes sense because they are robots. But those two? Ugh.
I saw a lot of it growing up, I haven't rewatched since then, but I rewatch G1 and Prime every few years. In fact I've started up g1 again recently, since it's free on TH-cam thanks to Hasbro.
i will say with the second transformers box office sales, it could’ve also been so much based off of the momentum from the first film (not saying the advertising for the second wasn’t that good) i am absolutely fond of the first three though because those were my childhood
Thank You, for that spark of love. Those movies were helpful in the bad moments. Such a great time and memories. I have almost the same feelings about them as You. Keep it up man, You helped me to find peace, once again. You remainded me how did I take pleasure from them. I can not agree about TLK. I think it was not as bad as most people say.
I grew up with G1 but absolutely love the Bay movies. My excitement for getting a Bay figure masks anything I receive on any of the other franchises. The design and realistic vehicles are just incredible. My favorite figure to date is the Leader class Optimus from Revenge of the Fallen. I have found that the loudest hate comes from the elitist of fans that believe with their entire heart that the movies some how bastardized Transformers. I still love and defend them.
Its good to see the bay trilogy (especially DOTM) get the love they deserve. Love coming back to the first 3 bay films every summer and it's genuinely a blast. Tf1 is a great introduction, Tf2 while suffering with its writing, it has Agent Simmons to make up for it, and Tf3 is a perfect mix of story and action
My first foray into the world of Transformers was the Unicron Trilogy (Armada, Energon, Cubertron), and then after that Bayverse. I love them both to death. The Last Knight was the only one I didn't like and I pretend it doesn't exist.

No lauding over Steve Jablonsky's music hurts. The guy gave us five beautiful, exciting, emotional, iconic masterpieces back to back to back to back to back.
The music never misses
I know, I kept writing it into the script but couldn’t find a way to make it flow right, but I adore every score he does in the franchise, even the last knight. But thank you for mentioning it for me! :)
Somehow even as the movies got worse, the scores just got continually better. The score for Last Knight is some of the most gorgeous music ever put to film.
@@Gojirawars03 I somewhat disagree, but The Last Knight's score is proof that EVERY film has at least one good thing in it.
His music is the only thing I like about the bay movies. They are epic and beautiful
"Dark Of The Moon" will always be my favorite Bayverse movie
Shit, that will always be the best Transformers movie period. Sentinel Prime was sum else
easily my favourite, but I think we were robbed of a team up or fair duel between Optimus and Megatron. He got killed so easily.
edit : we haven't got a proper 1vs1 fight between Optimus and Megatron in a movie until TFONE
TF1 : Megatron overpowered Optimus because Optimus went defensive to protect Sam
TFROTF: Optimus got backstabbed after a 1v3 fight
TFDOTM: Optimus killed a weakened/injured Megatron under 10 seconds
TFAOE : ?
TFTLK: fight scene ends after like 3 hit and Megatron got spartan kicked
31:30 I have a little head canon where the reason bee acts so immature in AOE is him not coping well with the death of Sam which he probably witnessed at the hands of cemetery wind, but was able to move on by the time of TLK
Honestly that a great theory!
I love this head canon so much
The internet can never make me hate the first three Bayformers films.
Thanks man, that means a lot coming for you!
Thank you for making this

It's weird how everyone forgot how Avengers final battle ripped off DOTM
It is basically the same as this: You, the unpopular kid, tell a joke or good story but nobody laughs or applauds; the popular kid tells the same thing as you but everyone laughs and applauds him.
They also used the same CGI frameworks.
I knew it the first time I watched the movie at the theaters… very underwhelming the avengers had to grow on me after a while

I'm so glad the bayformers movies are getting more and more love lately. I feel like whenever people talk about these films the consensus has always been that it bastardised G1 and that ruined their childhood. But for people who were kids when these movies came out, this was OUR childhood.
God damn right!
A lot of older transformers fans at the time consisted of manchildren who only want transformers to look and act a certain way (that being the 80s Saturday morning cartoon). That attitude is still big in the fanbase, though not as much as before. For a franchise all about transformations, the fanbase really is adverse to it.
Bayverse Devastator and the Constructicons are PEAK Bayverse designs, I FUCKING LOVE THEM.
I feel like the Bayverse is going through something similar to the Star Wars prequel trilogy, where the kids that watched it growing up are now old enough that they’re spreading their appreciation for these films that we grew up with.
I definitely think that’s the case
Dude, you don't have to ask me to keep loving these movies more than I already do. Thank you for making the video that people like us have always wanted to look for to watch on TH-cam! ❤
My pleasure to do so! I'm thankful for you checking it out! :)
Yes I agree ROTF IS DEFINITELY THE BEST MEGATRON
True
Still not sure why the dogs did that
I could always justify Optimus being brutal because in the first 3 movies the war on Cybertron is portrayed as more of a genocide and Optimus now Hates decepticons because of the brutality they used against the Autobots.
@@Lastjustice Jesus you just destroyed all the Bayverse haters, I'm using this.
(My nephew saw the 2007 film when he was 5...he joined the military heh.)
There was alot of intelligent decisions from a movie making stand point that crybabies who understand nothing about film making completely dismiss.
Micheal Bay has literally created a generation of transformers movies.

You are the first person I have found that likes Revenge of the Fallen. I have always loved ROTF but never hear anyone else who does. Thank you for that it made my day!
Keep loving it! :)
Yeah he saved the IP because GI Joe has never been able to find its popularity again.
I've been pretending to hate these movies since the first one. Thanks for waking me up to this, and allowing me to enjoy these movies.
You’re very welcome! :)
Your personal experience with the Bay-Formers films shows me that I’ve overlooked them. I love transformers, but you grew up with this different take. Hopefully they keep the franchise going on and on 👍
I hope so too!!!
There is certainly a lot us fans should be thankful for when it comes to the bayverse, despite some of the downfalls
Thanks for the video, mate.
I mostly enjoy the bayfilms, though I think they could stopped at Dark of the moon and been good. I just really wish they'd stop murdering autobots from G1.

I agree with all of your points but I like to share mine:
Bayverse Trilogy:
Bayverse Sequels (I recently considered AOE & TLK an alternate universe sequel films to the Bayverse trilogy because of Theorymus' video about the original ending for DOTM and how it was meant to be a trilogy)
"Arrival to Earth" is still my favorite soundtrack from him and in the Bayverse/franchise!😍😍❤🔥❤🔥
In conclusion, I love these films.
To this day I still copy his mannerisms and character.❤🔥💖
Thank you so much for making this video!😍😍 You increased my confidence in loving these films more and I'm going to start by not apologizing for loving them.
Thank you!😍🥰
DOTM is my favorite and GOAT in the Bayverse too. Hehehe.😅🤭
Thank you again for replying back and no problem!
I do like Revenge of the Fallen though, more or less, is decent to me.
this is just a masterpiece of a vid, its so well edited and the pacing is so good like im watching an official documentary abt bay movies lol, keep it up man
Thank you watching it! :)
Such an amazing video. The end of it brought tears to my eyes, because of how much I agree with you. Very well made. Just earned a subscriber!
I’m glad it connected with you, thank you for checking out my video and subbing! :)
I wish more people would come to the same conclusion and just enjoy these films
You're looking at the wrong haters. Most reasonably don't like these movies.
I feel like I’m the only person who loves skids and mudflap
Amazing video! I've always felt that these movies, orat least the first 4, were way over hated. It is so good to see more video like these that aren't just hate on these underrated films. Than you for making such a wonderful and well spoken video!
And man, that ending! You out into words things that I didn't really know how to put. I had a lot of those same feeling when those movies were coming out, specifically the first 3. That was very heartfelt and I really connected with you there.
Thank you for deciding to check the video out and I'm so happy that the ending connected with you! :)
You know what movie you should watch too?
Transformers ONE
He said that he watched the movie
@@Spider_EditxW i was saying that to everyone who didn’t see the movie yet
@@Spider_EditxW yes you’re right he did indeed watch them
@@guywholikesanimations1018 oh ok
Movie was peak tho
The scene when Sam calls Optimus and my dude starts to kill EVRY con that stays Infront of him, its absolute cinema
TF4 is my fav film out of them, i love the post war idea for the story and how the humans shown their evil faces, is really accruate to waht would happen in real life
it could have been better, i like the idea but the execution is so poor for my taste
still DoTM is my favorite and 2007
TF4 SUCKED
Transformers was the first movie i EVER seen in theatres. I was 5 then, I'm now 21. Crazy how much the CGI has held up in the last 16 years.
Same, I saw it at five and now I’m 22 (as of last week lol) and the cgi is better than most movies coming out today.
i love when prime threw that m&m truck out of pure trollage.
I'm glad these movies give you comfort, and I hope all goes well for you soon! :)
Michale bay was on them honey packets making this 😂
Dude bay’s transformers movies are some of the best movies I have ever seen in my life.
We are not (mostly) wrong, our reasons are 100% valid, you growing up with them as a child doesn’t change that
The end made me tear up, incredible job on this video
Thank you, I’m glad you were able to enjoy it! :)
I really agree!!!! finally ,someone like revenge of the fallen too!!
This is really well put together. Hope your work gets the attention it deserves man.
I really appreciate you thinking that :)
I remember in the scene in the first movie where the autobots are hiding in Sam's house, people didn't like it because they were acting like children or being goofy, that "they shouldn't act like that"
And then you look at the g1 cartoon where there are several moments in which the characters behave exactly like this.
I was 6 when transformers 07 came out and I remember always crying at the scene when bumblebee gets taken away 😂😂
I always loved watching the movies, but overtime I grew to have as much disappointment as I have love for them, they are cool dumb fun, but there was also so much we could have gotten for the movies that we didn't
I still love Sam Witwicky.
They are definitely better than movies these days and they were awesome to me even back then.It was innovative.
I got this on my recommended and accidentally clicked off the video I was watching. Glad I was able to find it! 😭
Thanks for trying to hunt it down to finish it! :)0
4:20 YESSS FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE GETS IT😭😭😭
goated take
bro basically has all my childhood favorites minus the Tron series (and i didn't see nolan's stuff until later but it was still a part of my life because my dad was watching and loving them as they would release. the music was always on)
You have earned my respect and I wish you have good things come to you
Thank youuuuuuu! :)
This video has EARNED my respect. Well done.
Thank youuuu!!!! :)
I know I am invading this area that you were hiding in and were doing nothing wrong, but I'm about to give you the PETA treatment if you don't do what I say."
EDIT: It's been a while since I seen either AoE and TLK, and I have misremembered them captured in Lockdown's ship for thinking they hid in a crashed ship cave from the opening of the fifth one. Either way, I still stand by my point of his lack of purpose due to Optimus already being the ruthless leader.
And Grimlock had no real personality besides being "the dumb one" in the past. It literally doesn't matter
You are expecting a Bay fan to actually like the Transformers as characters, you are talking to a wall
@@benjamingomez1761 the Transformers as characters are surface level in everything that's not Animated or Prime
Who let bro cook?
Thank you for watching the vid!!!! :)
I swear DOTM gives me some sort of high. The best bayverse transformers, ROTF forest scene also gives that same high
SAME!
Thank you for this video bro, the Bayverse deserve more love and recognition
Thank you for watching the video and subscribing, and I’m glad you enjoyed Sam’s arc as well! :)
While Bay did Revolutionize the Franchise in a New Way like the Action, the CGI, having good Characters, and it Cemented how Optimus and Bumblebee are Today, to me it’s a Underrated Masterpiece that’s probably a Popcorn Flick and has alot of Redeeming Qualities, however I’m not going lie after watching the Last Knight I come to a realization with so many of the Bayverse Flaws, Bay does make special effects but when it comes to executing the Story and Characters, let’s just say it’s a Mess and I can see why they rebooted the Live Action Version because it came to a Point that there’s nothing left to do, my rankings on the Bayverse is:
5. The Last Knight
4. Revenge of the Fallen
3. Age of Extinction
2. Transformers 2007
1. Dark of the Moon
I am probably late but I really want to say this
Michael Bay's Transformer is a franchise that is more of the most Bigg.
Est parts of my life, especially "Dark Of The Moon." as a kid, Optimus Prime was my lord and savior and boy. The way he slaughtered the decepticons, especially when he killed megatron. I called that cinema!!!
"Wat will you be without me, prime?"
- megatron 🤓
"Time to find out."
- Optimus Prime 🗿
Oh my god thank you! Everything in these films were awesome
The story the character development and just insane visuals, they connected all the films and could have done a banger if number 6 came out to connect everything and why they were in the photos in the last knight ❤️
I'm happy you liked it! Thank you for deciding to give the video a chance! :)
And yeah Optimus' patience has been pushed to it's limits lol.
@@aapsentertainment3159 I had an absolute blast with your content keep being you ❤️
I respect the bay films for reviving the franchise as a whole and I’m truly glad that you love them and get so much enjoyment through them. You should definitely never feel ashamed for liking them.
I just personally can’t overlook the plot holes the lazy writing and what honestly feels like disrespect to fans and the franchise before them.
Many of the characters have almost nothing to them other than rage autobots and deceptions I feel like you giving the writing maybe a little more credit than it deserves especially with Sam
I’m sorry but I can’t love Sam no matter what anyone says
And the awful humor does not work for me it feels like disrespect to the transformers legacy and every time these movies are brought up I thank God I watched them alone so I didn’t have to share the cataclysmic cringe
If I ever watch these again it will purely be for the action because that is truly amazing I haven’t seen a lot of action sequences that compare in any way tbh
Keep loving these movies never apologize for liking them I just hope you can understand why I personally do not
I was grew up from Bayverse Transformers Films.
I’m glad you found it relatable and I hope you’re having fun with your yearly rewatch! :)
He’s not a murderer. He’s a righteous warrior
Ugh.
14:00 YOOOO this edit is hilarious bro 😂 bravo
It’s like Olive Garden, we all know and say it’s bad but we all secretly
eat way too much of it.
I freaking love Olive Garden, I always get their shrimp.
Assuming you’ve watched Transformers Animated. But if not… “do it! Just do it!” It’s my second favorite Transformers series, next to Prime
I’m glad I was able to help, thank you for taking time to watch my video! :)
I love all the Transformers movies with Shia in them
I do absolutely love Bay's transformers even to this day. It was full of emotion put into the transformers in the Bayverse.
I actually love the age of extinction and the last knight 😞🥺
Its good to see the bay trilogy (especially DOTM) get the love they deserve. Love coming back to the first 3 bay films every summer and it's genuinely a blast. Tf1 is a great introduction, Tf2 while suffering with its writing, it has Agent Simmons to make up for it, and Tf3 is a perfect mix of story and action
My first foray into the world of Transformers was the Unicron Trilogy (Armada, Energon, Cubertron), and then after that Bayverse. I love them both to death. The Last Knight was the only one I didn't like and I pretend it doesn't exist.
