This is an amazing performance . This is my mothers favorite song as she is extremely proud of her Australian heritage. My mother has dementia and can no longer speak or carry on a conversation, but when played this song she sings along.
Someone explain something to me: I'm not Australian. I've never even been to Australia. So why does this song move me so much? I'm practically in tears every time I hear it.
There are a LOT of stories floating around about this great land Down Under. Some are true, and some are total BS, (just spinning a yarn for the tourists) .. lol .. but we are very patriotic, and a huge mob of lovable larrakins. This song brings ME to tears, and I was born here. Track down the version (original) by Peter Allen. This was his signature song, he is also Australia's most favoured Southern Son, from hardship through his youth, to international success with his music, a typical example of what it means to BE Australian. There are many Aussies here that believe that THIS song should be our National Anthem
I think I can help answer that. Australia is a country of 24 million people - but has the 13th largest economy in the world by GDP. We are home to oldest constant civilisation on the planet but are now characterised by a bunch of battlers who came from criminal beginnings to make names for themselves over the last 230 years. We get that, while we're respected, we'll never be a major player in international politics. But our country is breathtakingly beautiful and her people are, in the most part, happy and kind. So, despite the fact that we even have plants that can kill you, I'll always call Australia home - no matter how far I roam :-)
I’m from Tasmania, a “ring in” for 50+ years. Am with family in Melbourne at present BUT miss Tassy greatly and am only an hour away. Home is where the heart is. 🥰🥰
I went to the Australian Outback Spectacular on the Gold Coast recently and they performed this song to finish the show. The story in the show was a tribute to our farmers who are currently battling the drought. It was very moving and emotional, and once this song started up I was really struggling not to burst into tears in public. I am so proud and so thankful to be Australian!
If any song ever written should be a national anthem, it's this one. And sung by such brilliant voices. Heart-stopping for whoever you are, wherever you are.
this hits me in that special spot every time. im so proud to be australian. my forefathers sacrificed so much to migrate to australia and change the lives of future generations of our family forever. i will always make sure my children will remember that.
I'm not Australian but after being there and getting to know the aussies, this song makes me feel a lot! How lucky the people that born in Australia! I just wanna go back
I love this song. Very proud to be an Australian. i always have tears in my eyes listening to this. I would neverlive in another country. I have seen the world I love coming home
I love my country Australia. I am truly very lucky and i am grateful. Such a beautiful country. When things are tough as it is now with a huge majority of thr country is on drought, we all pull together to help!
Let’s have a thought for all those in Australia who lost home and belongings, for all the damage inflicted across the country by these terrible wildfires, and pay our respect to all those who’ve left jobs and beloved ones to go as a selfless sacrifice risk their lives for others. Be strong Australia!
@@williambristow9610 yes Australia is the greatest country on earth. I know firsthand. England (where I used to live) sucks. No offense to any Britons.
It’s not where we live, it’s who we are and what we believe. And I believe there is a little bit of Australia in everyone. And whenever any person hears this song, it will bring a tear, openly to the eye or hidden in the heart. Dpoet
Especially now, when a trip home isn't possible.... this song is so bittersweet. As soon as restrictions lifted and it's safe to fly straight to Melbourne for as long as I can!
1:03 there good! But the version of this song sung by Kristi Cox and friends is a tear jerker. Well it is for me because my late wife was from Australia and she left her home to come to the United States just to marry me ❤. I got very teary eyed when I hear this song.
Have you seen the Rendition from the Oprah Winfrey show in Australia. Performed by Hugh Jackman, Olivia Newton John, Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman and Keith urban. It's the one that gets me every time
Oh how can you not tearup hearing this beautiful song , those beautiful shots of Sydney Harbour , the sunset , & that handsome pic of Alan at the end , captures Australia's spirit perfectly , we miss you Mate
No matter what airline I travel on, this the earworm I hear about 1 hour from landing, i am usually thinking of my family my grandson my sons and by the time I am at customs I am crying glad to be home. Thanks Peter Allan.....a great song for all times.
I've been to cities that never close down From New York to Rio and old London town But no matter how far Or how wide I roam I still call Australia home. I'm always travelin' And I love bein' free So I keep leavin' the sun and the sea But my heart lies waiting over the foam I still call Australia home. All the sons and daughters spinning 'round the world Away from their families and friends Ah, but as the world gets older and colder It's good to know where your journey ends. And someday we'll all be together once more When all the ships come back to the shore Then I realize something I've always known I still call Australia home. No matter how far Or how wide I roam I still call Australia home.
Sunday march 7,2021 and listening to beautiful voices singing my favourite Australian song, The words, the melody, the voices make me homesick for the gum trees, meat pies & sausage rolls even though I live in Honolulu.
Good morning gentlemen, may the good Lord bless you all. May the good Lord bless us all. We are good. I was a good friend of Peter Allen, and he was always so nice to me as well his lover, whose name I have forgotten. They both were so nice to me when I was a youn young man. Peter would come to vacation at my parents houses when he needs to get away. From the stresses of his professional life, he was a guest in our home many times. That was when I was just a country boy. They made me a wonderful poster once and I still have it in Philadelphia. It’s a beautiful thing I must say. and therefore, I find this song so touching and sooner or later Tenterfield Sadler does all like a boomerang, someday return and I’m looking for my man. I’m not waiting for the man I’m looking for my man. For our, and for for our families . I often cry early in the morning when I listen to music that represents him while I am heterosexual, I love his music so much we saw him. I think it radio city Hall, and a few other major venues was quite young back then, but I still love all of that music, in fact, if someone could take me to Rio right now, I would be on the plane happily.
Now living abroard this song has even more meaning......wonderful version of the greatest Peter Allen song.....and of course our unofficial national anthem :)
Im an Aussie living abroad and when I hear this song brings back good childhood memories growing up in Australia. This song makes me so emotional. We are very lucky to grow up & live in Australia. Im going home in 6 months time to see my mother as I havent seen her since before the pandemic. Aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi!

I love oz landscaping, kola bears, kangaroo etc as unique animals, casual, easy going life with good communities and different cultures and a lot of festivals and a lot of community activities and a lot of exhibitions/shows, camping ground, more family oriented and more ethical value and less frauds.
hate Me for it but, not a single minority in this. to me Australia is a mix up of culture and ive always being proud of it. good job boys though, amazing singers
Are you actually saying this performance you watched has offended you, or someone else maybe? And it has had an effect on your mental health such as Sadness or Depression. Or are you accusing someone of Cryptomnesiac or Plagiarism? which would be pretty stupid as " EVERYBODY KNOWS WHO WROTE IT" It is not a Peter Allen Tribute concert, It is Their Concert also this is a snipit of the full concert have you seen the full version and checked that it wasn't mentioned at some stage. This performance by The 10 Tenors is the of highest degree, and a classy, this is how this song stays alive. But your not satisfied.. Or are just low life antagonist? I hope you don't call Australia home.
Bring home your son, Bring back Julian Assange to your home. May Julian Assange be free to go back to his family, to his country. May the bogus charges against him be dropped!
@@XenithXenaku Waltzing Matilda is iconic, but not particularly patriotic. Someone used the tune and put new lyrics on it to make "God Bless Australia", which I think would be a brilliant anthem.
Always remember, the "Advance Australia Fair" we know today is not the original. The original is what people expected when they voted, and it would be been a very good anthem.

Beautifully rendered song. Displays the brilliance of Peter Allen's composing.
