  • In this video I show you how I removed my 2007 Toyota Yaris Hatchback rear seats. I am not responsible in any way shape or form for anything that you break, damage, or injure while you are working on your car. This is simply a video showing how I removed my rear seats.
    Tools needed:
    -E10 Socket
    -3/8 Rachet (more desirable to have an electric 3/8 impact like I used to make your life easier)
    -3/8 Extension

    My 2007 Yaris Hatchback has a rear bench seat that is not split 60/40 and does not slide forward. Also looks like I have regular hex bolts holding the rear bench in place. This video will still help me out when I upgrade the rear speakers. Thank you for making this! 👍

    Question, I bought a 07 hatch 2dr same seats with belt, after removing can you still use the factory spare floor cover? And in your opinion once seats removed could you do something like foam squares to make the floor more level? Looking to remove them just for less weight for mpg but would like to make the floor more flat with something afterwards.

    • @TheInteriorAutoMechanic
      @TheInteriorAutoMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are still able to use the spare tire cover. And yes you could put some foam blocks or something to make the rear area more level. I will advise taking the rear seats out does change the way the car handles some just because there is less weight above the rear axle beam.

      Well I failed at taking out backseat, due to rust, one harbor freight extension snapped, got breaker bar and then the nut snapped in half, even used penetrating lube. Guess will have to grind bolts down . This need a fuel pump. May end up tack welding back seat in after pump works.

    • @TheInteriorAutoMechanic
      @TheInteriorAutoMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did however if you have muscles you could do it with a ratchet. You may get arm pump though because some of the bolts are extremely tight. If you can't break them loose try soaking them with Seafoam Deep Creep, that's the best penetrating oil that I've ever used.

It will have two metal prongs that pop into two plastic pieces on the metal brace underneath of it. Once you remove the seat cushion all of the bolts will be in the exact same place as the split seats. If you need more help let me know thanks!

    Hi I likeyour accent. Mines’s from souther Wv. I have the 2019 hatchback & believe it only carries 815lbs including passengers. I don’t feel I need that heavy spare & all the heavy tool with it. The salesman even made fun of me behind my back for letting him sell me that stuff that “only old ladies want these days Then mocked me for charging me at LEAST $1500 dollars to much for the car. Nice guy. If i wanted to lighten this up for camping w my 2 dogs would it be ok to empty out that spare stuff snd take out the seats like you’re saying for camping would that be ok? Also, would tethering some lightish gear be ok? Thank you to anyone with an opinion ♥️🙋‍♀️

    • @TheInteriorAutoMechanic
      @TheInteriorAutoMechanic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words. I never realize I have an accent until someone mentions it lol. You can definitely remove the rear seats and spare tire kit to save some weight and free up some space. I will say the Yaris does seem to need some weight over the rear axle to keep its regular handling. When you remove the seats and the spare tire, the rear end get does get lighter and it is noticeable while driving. If you're planning on putting weight back in there anyway, I wouldn't see why that would make any difference. Basically you're just swapping out the seats for heavy camping supplies. Just be aware it may drive a little bit different than if you kept your Yaris stock. As far as putting anything on the roof, I would not recommend anything heavy. The roofs of these cars are very thin and dent very easily. So if you needed to put something lightweight on the roof that would be fine. But I would recommend getting a thule roof rack if you were going to strap anything large or heavier to it. I hope the video helps! Please consider liking the video and subscribing to the channel :)

    • @TheInteriorAutoMechanic
      @TheInteriorAutoMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is definitely some white reduction with these heavy seats being taken out of the rear however I have noticed the car is a bit more twitchy since it doesn't have that weight over the rear axle. I'm hoping to be able to combat this with a good suspension setup on this build. If you're interested in seeing the yaris build please subscribe to the channel and ring the bell for notifications.
