Fire is destructive, but it is also something that refines. You can’t turn ore into steel without fire. Clay into pottery, dough into bread. Light in the dark, and warmth in the winter.

@@painvillegaming4119 huh didn't knew it about that Avatar.
for me the fire nation technological advance was juste good worldbuilding, the other nations uses their bending to create/locate their cities and such, but you can't really build a house out of fire, so, as Gadabout said, you use the fire to melt metal and stuff and gain a considerable technological advantage, because they had to

Sokka and Yue's story is how you do that kind of relationship *right*. It's not at the center of everything wrongfully, it's secondary in importance to the main conflict. But you care nearly as much because you have two people dedicated to principles like duty, honor and bravery before what they actually want, when teenagers should be having too much fun to worry about such things. In some ways I wish I'd been able to enjoy this for the first time with adult faculties, but I'm so glad my introduction to serialized storytelling was with something so worthy.

Hey Arnold went HARD. Straight up murder and suicide themes. What Avatar really stands out with is the continuity, attention to detail, animation, and lore. But continuity and lore above most else, cause while any show can tackle a deep dark theme for an episode, it's the payoff of a continued story in an established world that really brings it home for the shows that committed to it back in the day.

War has come to the North Pole, but it's time for each character to put their development to the test. Not only does it fall on Katara to play powerhouse, both being surrounded by water but also drawing power from the full moon - allowing her to have the edge over Zuko, but also Sokka gets to flex his strategic prowess, his familiarity with the Fire Nation being vital to the North's attack force. While Yue's fiance does end up being a dick, turns out the future father-in-law kinda thinks so too.
On the other side of things, Zuko has to be sneaky, heeding Iroh's advice in his quiet and methodical infiltration of the North, and with Aang passing through the Spirit World, he has the Avatar in his hands.

As a 90's kid bruh Nickelodeon is OLD. You go back to the early 1900's you're gonna see some stuff. Besides the 90's cartoons were already dark. With Hey Arnold they had axe wielding murderous psychopaths. A ghost train that actually has historical background inspiration. Rugrats had dark episodes like going to the post office with a corpse in one of the mail shoots. Using the toilet was like getting the electric chair (No joke) Grampa pulled out a adult movie for his personal time. Tommy got kidnapped and held for ransom. Ren and Stimpy 🤢😨 was straight up body mutilation. Roco's modern life did some uh "odd" jobs.
In all honesty AVATAR is the most tame. Like most of the dark stuff had already happen and Aang has to pick up the pieces and go on. Then more stuff happens that I can't say because of spoilers.

I agree that this is Prime Nickalodean. What concerns me is that there is a CG ATLA in the works. I think they are foing to destroy this shows legacy. This show could be aired again today and still kick butt.

Tbf Avatar "fans" will hate anything remotely new, or different, anyway. See how everyone talks about Korra, or the live-action series.

@painvillegaming4119 I was never a huge fan of Korra, although I do think it's a good show that just suffered from being in the shadow of a great one. I have massive respect for Korra, though, for trying something different and expanding on what was there. The remakes feel shallow and a bit lazy. They don't really need to exist, and they don't really add anything new.
