My hero , best tenor voice ever, I played his songs and ballads in the past with my selmer, I miss Bob a lot, what a musician guys, I have still a cover signed by him , RIP 🙏 great Bob Berg
and Michael Brecker
Apart from a great musician and composer, Bob was a great bandleader as well. I was lucky to witness a live stint of the Bob Berg band many years ago in Amsterdam. During the first cut Bob only played the head and then started walking around checking if his bandmembers were comfortable. He only started soloing during the second cut, when he was sure that everbody on stage was happy! Special man. RIP.
Such a beautiful player. Rich, deep, full tone. Just perfect.
And a true powerhouse as well.
Bob Berg was an immense loss to the jazz world. I just love his style of saxophone playing!!!
Para mim, o Bob Berg é um dos melhores saxofonistas do mundo. Gosto principalmente quando ele fazia dupla com o guitarrista Mike Stern. Uma pena que o Bob Berg faleceu em 2002.
bob has it all . all ways plays with passion and what a tone.am a sax player. and we all want that berg tone.haha
True heart in Bob's searching here. He's been listening to Pat Metheny, folk and gospel, and Mr. Herrington is doing the Steely Dan - no wonder Donald hired him. Bob is getting soulful here, such a loss. Peace and thanks for posting this lovely record
That first track was so beautiful it boarders on insanity.
R.I.P. Mr. Berg
This song is so beautiful! I first heard it while I was cleaning up my house over 20+ years ago. Thank GOD I had accidentally left my cassette on record whenever, because, as I was playing the cassette back, I heard one of the most beautiful songs ever. Sad thing is, there was only a portion of the song on there. The radio station had since gone off the air and the local jazz station was pre-recorded, so there was no human to talk to. Fast forwarding to about 2010, I found the cassette and began searching for the artist and the entire song. No one could identify it from the solo performances that was recorded. I transferred it to my computer, and named it the Thoo Doo song, for Arto Tuncboyaciyan bottle blowing routine in the back ground. Because I only had the guitar, piano and sax solos recorded, I did a google search of jazz songs with those 3 solos and saw a website and phone number. I called the number and was surprised that a human answered. I told the guy about the song, but it didn't ring a bell. I told him that a had it on my computer and emailed it to him. I called him back as he was listening to it and started singing the vocal hook, then pointed me to Bob Berg. Man was I elated! I've had it on my computer playlist ever since. It also stayed in the mind of my now 20 year old son, who listened as we drove places. Every now and then, I'll hear him "thoo dooing!" Sorry for the long post!
