I need help Squat U! For my sciatica, it doesn’t hurt when I do heel extension towards ceiling that much. I’ve had L4/L5 disk bulges & sciatica for over 10 years. I can manage it well with occasional flareups, but what hurts the most is sitting and hunching my back, then trying to look down. The pain is isolated very sharply on my right lower pack, in one spot & I don’t understand it. Pain used to radiate down my leg more, but that’s subsided. Now I feel sharper pain around my anterior sacrum only on right side. It mainly makes my psoas/piriformis, lower back & SI joint superrr sore & achey, every day it feels like I wake up with a broken back & have to stretch it out /workout to get blood flow before it feels more “loose” and pain-free. I know sleeping position would help me wake up better but it’s impossible for me not to turn on my side once asleep & the pillow disappears from in between my knees😭 I’m just curious if you have any info for long-term sciatica sufferers, any additional exercises other than McGill Big 3 that can help with unorthodox sciatica pain. Just want my hips & glute/hamstring to feel not so achey :’) any help will be greatly appreciated, LOVE your videos 🫶🏽❤️🙏🏽
Technically I have L4/L5 disk herniations, not bulges. Not sure if that makes much difference lol Last MRI said 3mm - 4mm herniations, pretty bad & they’re surprised I don’t have more pain than I do. I do workout a lot to strengthen & have been doing Pilates/yoga so I think that’s why it’s so manageable. But the dull, achey, right tingly pain is always there in some form. Especially after walking for 4-5 hours 😅I don’t want surgery, I just want real relief for longer than a week lol
no cap, that sciatica exercise cured my lesion, I couldn't even pick things up from the floor or stand up without using my arms because it was so painful on the back of my legs, but thanks to the first exercise I'm cured, thank you squat university
Aggravated my disk bulge for the first time in 5 years going a barbell bent over last week. I’ve alleviated the pain so much by doing the McGill big 3. Specifically the side planks are just awesome, I feel so loose afterward.
Holy fucking smokes this is EXACTLY what I’ve been experiencing for the last year! Went to Dr., Chiro, Stretch Lab, stopped lifting and running. Nothing helped. Going to try this thank you!!!
Do the McGill big three prevent the bulging disk from getting worse as a maintenance exercise or actually reduce overall stress on the spinal column as a progressive exercise? Glad to know there's an easy test for lumbar bulging disk!
I did the McGill big 3 with a ton of back extensions after I got a bulge in the lumbar spine. It just recently started bothering me again, but was pain free for several years. Could lift heavy as hell with no issues.
Most disc bulges heal on their own over time as long as you don’t strain the injury. Getting more core strength allows you to stay in the correct positions when you bend or bear weight. That helps you stay in alignment and not strain the injury which gives you the time to heal without more pain/injury.
@@bbtbbbbtbb3166 sorry but do you have a source or a study that proves this? Worked in a chiropractic office where one of the main issues was bulging and herniated disks. People that were going to PT and Chiro, acupuncture, personal trainers, water aerobic therapy, and the only thing that provided relief was chiropractic. This was such short term relief that they had to come back weekly, it was awful to see these people in so much pain. Sorry, just knowing that a set of exercises could help would be a great benefit but ii don't want to provide false info.
The tests you mentioned to check what exercises they need, what are they called? You do them in every video and it'd be great to know how you pick which tests to do!
He’s doing different tests depending on the symptoms of the patient. If you are referring to the seated pull test, that’s for bulging discs only and not other injury types. He has a video that explains this test in his shorts.
Could you do a video to recommend some movements for people without any health problems yet want to increase their general health & mobility? a 3 min video with 5 detailed, yet fast & short examples would be IDEAL. Thanks so much in advance.
It can also be caused by the gluteus muscle itself because of how the nerve passes through/around it. This causes some people to just be more prone to develop sciatica.
I do that floss before rdls or Ill have a tightening pain into my calves, but after the glides everything is good, that disc test doesn't hurt at all, I did herniate my l5 s1 last year.
Thanks Doc ❤ one question... is this the same with my condition I'm suffering from whenever I sit down in a chair I can feel pain in my left butt right to my thigh...or the same while I'm driving...
what do you recommend if nerve tension/pain is causing severe limitations in hamstring flexibility? Every time i stretch my hamstrings I get tingling and nerve pain at the low hamstring and behind the knee. I dont any back pain and it's equal in both legs, so i dont think the culprit is a disk bulge.
I'm taking a peptide called BPC-157 as well as doing these exercises to heal my disc bulge and let me tell you. Peptides are the future of sports medicine. my inflammation has lessened so much in just 1 week of taking the peptide, I recommend BPC-157 and also TB-500 to anyone suffering this pain.
I have constant tension in the back of my hip, meaning the area of the upper glute medius just below the upper side of the pelvis 'shovels' and punctual pain right where the piriformis is attached to the sacrum on on the right side. Could you recommend the best course of action? I hope i made the problem clear. Would very much appreciate an answer :)
isn’t the tightness almost always increased pushing someone’s leg up and flexing the foot because tight calves are usually the limiting factor in leg extension?
I can absolutely attest to the efficacy of Sciatic nerve floss. 3 times a day if you are sitting at a desk. SNF keeps it from occurring, and if it is currently occurring, it will take all of the disruptive edge off. This, combined with exercise over 3 months, completely resolved my issues cause by a strained piriformis. Felt like a rock in my seat at times.
@makstyles3047 McGill Big 3, + small pressure ball between the knees squeezed tightly (try to pop it) held for 10 second intense squeeze. 10 reps x 4 sets every day plus goblin squats 10 x 3.
Shout out @aubreyformica for the opening stitched video!
Thank you, Aubrey. GYYYYAATTTTTT

@ayla6123 Bird-dog, side planks and modified sit up. Usually 10reps each for 10sec holds.
Honestly this channel should be mandatory viewing for doctors. Would have saved me months of treatment.
But if doctors just prescribe movements that address the actual core of the problem, how will those poor insurance companies make their billions?
@@HeavyweightMind Yeah healthcare is just broken everywhere. Incentives are just not aligned.
When the pain is musculoskeletal, check in with a physiotherapist too.

many times this is bc of a muscle pressing on the nerve, if the disk gets operated muskle stiffness and therefore pain often gets worse
