When I was stationed in S. Korea, I went to the War Memorial... It is very humbling and makes me respect you even more for going and remembering those who lost their lives in Vietnam...

Fantastic video! I have to admit, I was even a little white-knuckled during that rickshaw ride!
Prior to our naval vessel pulling into Cam Ranh International Port, I gave a talk one evening to a room full of Naval Officers about Vietnam's turbulent past and how that's shaped the country's present and near-term future. If you consider the resistance against Japanese occupation in 1940 as a starting point, and then the Sino-Vietnamese war of late-70's / early-80's as a general end point, there's conceivably three or more living generations of Vietnamese that know first-hand the horrors of war.
Following the American Civil War, the saying was that everyone knew someone who fought. 150 years later, the same can likely be said for Vietnamese people. Therefore, it's incredibly important to be both humble and respectful of that period. You did a tremendous job of showing that aspect in just the right way.

Loved your guide. Sign that guy up! He has a superb sense of video.
My daughter did a tour of Vietnam with a mate and had a great time. She reckons the story of the war from the other side is a little different.
Long ride from the port to the city. All the tourists hanging out the windows on the way there, on the way back after lunch all you hear is snoring from the exhausted seniors.
Funny, isn't it? In the morning you can't wait to get off and explore, eight hours later all you want is to crash out in the freshly cleaned and tidied cabin. That's the big attraction for me. No bags to schlepp around, pack and unpack, a familiar haven with all the things you need right there. Doing a land tour is different with every night a different hotel and room to memorise and after a while they all look the same.
Thanks for the effort of presenting this. It must be exhausting to do a recap back on the ship but having it fresh in your mind makes it easier to tell the story.
I've never been to Vietnam, so your volg has been a help.

Thanks, Brooke. We have some folks who dislike the videos the moment we publish, which indicates they don't watch them. Haters gonna hate, right? In the words of Taylor Swift, LOL! Hugs, and thank you!

    • @CruiseTipsTV

The point Brooke was making is that someone "dislikes" the video the moment that it is published, meaning, they didn't watch the video *at all* to make that type of judgment.

I would love to experience Vietnam. Your guide was so joyful. I think it is important to learn about the history of a country and to remember the war but look at the beauty now, especially the people. Your son is so blessed to see the world with his parents. So happy to share a small part of your adventure❤️

Hi. Im going to book a HAL cruise to Alaska so I start to searching the information about the cruise and I saw your this video. Amazing! your cruise docked at Saigon ( HCM city ) where i come from and exactly the China town area where I lived before. When I watched the street in your video, it reminded me a lot of my old memories 🤓

Awesome video tour. I usually watch a lot of travel vlogs and it’s usually one whole video selfie. They always have the camera on their face, talk about beautiful scenery but we the viewer only see their faces. Its very frustrating. Thank you for all you do, Im sure it’s a lot of work.

  • @UranusGaseous
    @UranusGaseous 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Definitely haven't visited Vietnam if you didn't have Pho while there, I bet it was delicious.
Just an FYI in case any of your viewers visit Asia.. (10:09) It is not proper chopstick etiquette to leave your chopsticks in your food, while not fully vertical it's still considered a taboo. If you are going to put your chopsticks down, lean it against the bowl, on a napkin or wrapper or if given, the chopstick holder. I usually just use the wrapper the chopsticks come in or a napkin and make a triangle out of it and lean it on that so the business end of the chopsticks is off the table. This may not be taboo in every Asian country but it is in most.

These Vlogs are incredible! It is so wonderful watching your sweet family capture these amazing memories & having the skill to preserve & share them. My sweet aunt and uncle traveled to Vietnam yearly to do medical work and build schools. I just showed my daughter a resin jewelry they brought me back the other day. How fun to see all of those items! Thank you for sharing your amazing work and style with us. XOXO
