Diamond Princess Asia Cruise Review - Shimizu

  • Hey Cruisers,
    It's time to visit Shimizu on our Diamond Princess Asia Cruise. This is our second day of our 12 night cruise, during which we'll cover 2800 nautical miles and visit Tokyo, Shimizu, Osaka, Taipei (Keelung), Hong Kong, Nha Trang & Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam, and Singapore.
    We start off this cruise vlog bright and early in the morning with a stunning view of beautiful Mt Fuji. Jet lag had us both up early, and we lucked out with a truly awesome vista of Mount Fuji. After coffee and a quick breakfast we were off to explore the charming port of Shimizu. We had some fun with the local vendors and townspeople that came out to greet us, and then we headed off to visit the S-Pulse Dream Plaza. S-Pulse Dream Plaza is a shopping center by the seaside where visitors can enjoy shopping, gourmet food and entertainment. It seemed like there was so much to do there. Of course there are the shops and restaurants, but there are other attractions like the Ferris Wheel. From the Dream Sky Ferris Wheel magnificent views of the World Heritage site Mount Fuji can be seen across Suruga Bay on sunny days. There are also fun rides and games for kids. After shopping, and making friends with shopkeepers, it was time for lunch. We were a little nervous about trying to order food in Japanese, but it wasn't a problem at all. Everyone was super nice, and very patient with us. Our port day went by quickly, and before long it was time to return to the ship. The lovely people on shore gave us a beautiful send off, and sadly our time in Shimizu was over. Some days, we like to do it all, but this day was all about NOT having a plan. As the Diamond Princess pulled into this friendly port city, we were immediately amazed by the friendly hospitality of the locals. Many brought their pets to port to greet us, and the send-off musical performance brought tears to my eyes. Despite a severe lack of sleep, this day was one of the sweetest on our Princess Cruises voyage to Asia. Thanks for joining us for this day 1 cruise vlog as we travel to Japan for our Diamond Princess Asia Cruise. We've got much more Asia cruise adventures ahead. We'll have some Asia cruise tips, more cruise vlogs from Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Singapore.

      Thanks Syd...I think we have some haters who press the dislike button before they watch it. Usually, the thumbs down appears within the first minute of the vid going live...so...yah, not sure my friend. I try not to let it get to me...because people like YOU fill our 💕 hearts with a million times more joy than a few sad peeps can impact us!

    As person who been to Shimizu several times, I can assure that Mount Fuji is definitely NOT rare. For us, it’s been fully visible 3 out of 4 times. Agree, it’s absolutely stunning, but they always tell you that your cruise is the only one to see it.
    Looking forward to your next videos, where I’m sure the sights are amazing. But I think it might have been a mistake to spend your day hanging out at the local mall. A taxi ride away is the stunning Kunozan Toshugo Shrine, built into the mountain top and accessible only by aerial tram. It’s a shame to miss any of these opportunities on what might be a once in a lifetime journey.

    • @CruiseTipsTV
      @CruiseTipsTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you got quite lucky. We read review after review prior to our cruise of people booking excursions to more closely view Mt. Fuji, and never getting to see it.
      As for staying on the ship , if you follow our channel, you likely know that we do something excursion related in nearly every port. It is very rare for us to skip venturing out, but following a 12 hour flight and 17 hour time change, (and thousands of dollars in excursions elsewhere) we were exhausted and needed a day with less planned. We plan to return to Japan at some point to explore further.

    Hey CruiseTipsTV family! You aren't tipping us off on your next cruise with the "Upcoming Cruises" in the shipmate app are you :) If so, that will be an exciting series of videos to watch, however, I was also hoping you were planning a cruise on the Celebrity Edge! Keep up the great work.

    Catching up on watching your channel. Great vlog! Awesome footage! Mt. Fuji looks amazing! Great editing too!
    How do you finish your editing so quickly? You both are very talented! I'm still editing my London visit and Mediterranean cruise videos and have about 6 of 12 videos finished and hope to start posting them in a few weeks before we cruise the Bahamas!
    Safe and fun travels! Cheers! 😎

      Hey pal! Thanks for the kind words! It feels like each edit takes forever to us to- each video takes about 30 hours, crazy! We try to get one video per week out, but sometimes it seems insurmountable 😬

      @@CruiseTipsTV i hear you! It takes a long time just to go through all the footage and pick the right clips! I'm trying to do more previous storyboarding before videoing as that helps reduce my editing time but I like to be spontaneous as well and capture the moment! Well keep up the great work while having family fun on your adventures! 😊

    Have you tried "No Jet Lag"? It works for me going east or west. Made in New Zealand. Health food stores sell it or order from Magellan's travel catalog.

    • @CruiseTipsTV
      @CruiseTipsTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No! Is that a pill?

    • @donnasmith3798
      @donnasmith3798 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a chewable minty tablet that one takes every 2 hrs. Take one tab an hour before take off, then one tab every 2 hrs in flight. Try to take one before or after eating. It's possible to skip a dose if one falls asleep 😪! It will not interfere with medications or vitamins. It is homeopathic. Safe for children. I have noticed it works best for me going east (Europe). I take it going west but I have an easier time re-adjusting going west. However, my longest flights going west have been 10-12 hours flying time usually to Seattle , plus add layover time and 3 more hrs flying time back home. I live near Anchorage, AK. So I continue taking the No Jet Lag until I land. The objective of No Jetlag is to help re-set your Circadian Rhythm.
