I used to watch Bizarre Foods, I forgot about it for a bit and now I'm back in 2022. I wish it was still going! I'd love to try these foods, it's time I travelled. Love and happiness to everyone here
Breathtaking documentary. In one spectrum, we have a glimpse of the Vietnamese cuisine : the tradition intertwining with the blossoming re-creation. Really exciting reportage ! Thanks a lot !
@D W I was responding to your arrogant and ill-informed comment that "40-50 years ago they were hunting each other in the forest" . It was the USA whose troops were burning, killing and raping in Vietnam. Very few Vietnamese fought for the puppet South Vietnamese army ARVN. In fact it is a matter of record that many of those who went to ARVN for training then deserted to join the liberation forces. The USA poured more bombs on Vietnam than were used by both sides during WWII. Agent Orange sprayed to defoliate the forest is still up to now responsible for Vietnamese babies born with hydrocephalous. And this is what barbaric America did to only one country. If you travelled, you would find that most people in the world view the USA as a nation of 'cannibals. The Vietnamese successfully and successively fought the French, the Japanese, the French again, the USA, the Khmer Rouge and China. They have now rebuilt their economy under very difficult conditions. And they execute cheating bankers. And yes, I am white. But I do not allow the accident of skin colour to affect the functioning of my brain.
+Kris Reyes they are also very kind and friendly ..i added one from language page on fb had lots of vietnamese friends ..they are so nice..i hope i can visit vietnam one day
Those rats reminded me of something I read a while back. Back when Vietnam was a French colony, in order to combat the large amount of rats in the area, the French offered a bounty for every rat caught and killed. What ended up happening is that the locals started breeding rats for money. It's a good example of an incentive based solution becoming counter productive.
The English did that in India with cobras in Delhi because too many people were being bitten but it was too successful so people started breeding them in their homes. Once the English caught on to what was happening they cancelled the bounty scheme so everyone just let all of their cobra's go back into the city which caused a bigger problem than it was originally.
Enjoyed this episode and i would have eaten everything besides the birds nests as they just don't appeal to me . I do enjoy Vietnamese/ Lao's food and here in Australia we have some of the best food outside South East Asia
My man Andrew Zimmern with Kyle le and I even spotted Mark Wiens. A very very special Bizarre foods in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam episode. Unbelievable!!!!
Thank you for this video. My wife and I will be visiting HCMC in a couple weeks and I want to try something different. People in the north aren't as adventurous, regarding their diets. Who better to ask for unique food than Andrew Zimmern? He doesn't follow Kashrut laws very well.
Minh chua an thu bao gio.nhin thay hoi so nhung cung muon thu mot lan.nghe noi trc kia bo minh lam mon thit chuot gia cay ngon lam.nhung luc do minh o trong bung me chua chui ra nen k co co hoi an thu hiazzza
The art of cuisine when fully mastered is the one human capability of which only good things can be said. Vietnemese is one of those cuisines 🌴🙏💪👍❤️ greetings from the Amazon Jungle
Yep, I would almost always go for street food rather than restaurant food. You can see it being prepared, it is sold in bulk (so nothing sits around for long), the opposite is true in restaurants. Also street food is usually bloody delicious (if you specialize in cooking just one thing, it seems you can get very good at it).
Thịt chuột is easily one of my favorite Vietnamese meats. I would 100% choose it over chicken. Ốc is another favorite. I can't agree with Andrew. That cheese (they use skinny cow cheese), goes really well with shellfish, surprisingly. Saigon is a place that is so easy to fall in love with.
Dude it's not considered traditional food in Vietnam. but adventurous/ wild food. Traditional food is like the ones served with rice like stir fried tofu and canh
I refuse to eat rat and dog of cause also. Its a lack of knowledge when you do this. In my country we train rats to find landmines in Vietnam, and dogs can tell you if you are sick or not. So stupid to kill those animals for food, and be proud of it. They should not go on face book to much, but start learning in stead...
Producers: "just say to Andrew, 'How do you feel about that' Vietnamese guy: "Andrew how you feel about this food?" Andrew: "The food in this country is so vibrant and blah blah blah blah blah. Vietnamese guy: "Oh ok"
i would eat anything vietnamese the food might look different but i love how the vietnamese have this special sauce to marinate all the food which makes the food enjoyable. vietnamese food is yum.
If its sweet?, you can sell it in Vietnam. They even put sugar in their milk or fresh orange juice. Its strange, but maybe it is coming from the very bad years they had before...
I have not seen my boy Andrew in a year or so.. I only came on to see this episode because of Kyle.. Good show.. smoking hot girl too.. :) Funny, lights are only for decoration..
+arie sams yeah, why don't all cultures just slaughter pigs, cows and chickens in the millions? and dont forget delicious baby cows who have to be tethered to a pole in order to keep their meet tender and juicy. let he without sin cast the first stone. so stfu pathetic poser.
I used to watch Bizarre Foods, I forgot about it for a bit and now I'm back in 2022. I wish it was still going! I'd love to try these foods, it's time I travelled. Love and happiness to everyone here
When you learn about food, hear the music and try the language your mind opens up. Thank you so much for doing what you do Andrew.
What I love about Andrew Zimmern is that he is always respectful to wherever he is. He's never rude
He is the Best!
But he is egoistic in sometimes
Wow, impressed with this brotha's manners. A lesson to us all when traveling to lands outside of our own....
I love this episode. When the guy says, "before, I don't have a lot," it really gets to me. Amazing human.
Breathtaking documentary. In one spectrum, we have a glimpse of the Vietnamese cuisine : the tradition intertwining with the blossoming re-creation. Really exciting reportage ! Thanks a lot !
Awesome, Vietnam has such amazing food. Also, that little twitch at 5:24 means fresh!

Brilliant I have to visit Ho Chi Minh City
funny thing its like 40-50 years ago they were hunting eachother in those fields and forest and now they are hunting rats together
It was the US cannibals which were hunting the Vietnamese. Unfortunately the cannibals had to go back to canninballand,

Saigon is not the original name of HCMC. It is actually Prey Nokor which is Khmer.
I looked at my pet rats like '' Im not gonna eat you""D:
PeanutSmash right on,no one eating my fur babys
PeanutSmash nooo
lol I don't think theyd eat their pet rats, jut the ones in the rice fields
...and the pet rat looked back like "please, god, don't let this dirty furry try to fuck me" :
This is the only reason I’d travel. I love food.

Thịt chuột is easily one of my favorite Vietnamese meats. I would 100% choose it over chicken. Ốc is another favorite. I can't agree with Andrew. That cheese (they use skinny cow cheese), goes really well with shellfish, surprisingly. Saigon is a place that is so easy to fall in love with.

vietnam looks amazing , what a cool place
Birds nest soup sounds absolutely disgusting, I would rather eat my soiled underpants.
The place is undeniably buzzing great city.
You soil your underpants.
That look on the guys face when she sucked on the snail - priceless :D
Am I the only who thinks the model girl in the beginning kinda looks like Miley Cyrus
Producers: "just say to Andrew, 'How do you feel about that'
Vietnamese guy: "Andrew how you feel about this food?"
Andrew: "The food in this country is so vibrant and blah blah blah blah blah.
Vietnamese guy: "Oh ok"
and then there came the bat ROFL

حقيقه احسده على شهيته للاكل 😁😁😁
Yes, yes we know: "In the desert mumbled the prophet Mohamhead: 'No ham and no beer, goddammit...'"
Bird's nest farm - no sunlight, surely that's wrong?
Thats really crazy.
one changes to survive, the vietknog knows this
it was at this moment 40:54 that he knew he finally found his lover
If its sweet?, you can sell it in Vietnam. They even put sugar in their milk or fresh orange juice. Its strange, but maybe it is coming from the very bad years they had before...

Martin Kirkov Stop dreamin about her because she will not let go of Andrew's bird nest for you.lol
Kyle does not have a tv presentable face, especially when he's resting it lol
This is so ridicolously delicious - is not a very good way of presenting food to an audience. i mean wtf. really everytime he tastes sth..

+arie sams yeah, why don't all cultures just slaughter pigs, cows and chickens in the millions? and dont forget delicious baby cows who have to be tethered to a pole in order to keep their meet tender and juicy. let he without sin cast the first stone. so stfu pathetic poser.
