  • Got this little beauty of a utilitarian hatchet / axe a few days ago and so far loving it. The Council Tool Flying Fox Hatchet, let's take a look. 👍🤠A.K.A. the Flying Fox Woodsman Hatchet and this one has throwing in mind. A great little multi-use camp hatchet in the Council Tool Sport Utility Line up. It was developed with specific design parameters so that it functions well for wood-cutting chores or even banging in a few nails with its hardened poll, but also qualifies for competitive hatchet throwing in both major urban axe throwing organizations.
Head weight… 1 lbs. 11 ozBit length… 3 7/8” Hardened bit and pollHandle has a large hatchet eye, trimmed to be under 16” (Hickory)
    Made in the USA
The overall design takes elements found in vintage hatchets from the mid-20th century, and reminds me of the Plumb National Boy Scout axe/hatchet.

I got one, for throwing actually. It's a great little hatchet. You beat up axes throwing, so the cost of this is pretty appealing to a thrower. I did the same, and added boiled linseed on mine too. Will probably buy a couple more now that I know of them. Great video!

Council tool is the most innovative axe company in the world right now. They are the only ones experimenting with different steels, improving on vintage designs, and their handles are phenomenal.
They do require some tuning, and send out a few more stinkers than I’d like, but there are so many other good things about their axes I overlook some of the qc issues

I agree with you 100%. And thanks for the awesome comment and info. They are one of my favourites now and I have been looking for my next counsel to axe

That's a real sweet hatchet for the price for sure! Just might have to order myself one. But that will have to wait, cause Grouse season in my part of Ontario opens Sept 25th, so it's time to break out my ole Citori 20 guage, and focus on some "double gunning" !

Good luck out there! Bow season started here September 1st and I'm looking for my Elk, Whitetail and Mule deer. 👍🍻

That was really interesting. I misplaced my hatchet somewhere. I’m sure it’s someplace in my basement!
