Hi John. I’m a debilitated, bed-bound 9/11 first responder. I love and miss fishing. I used to fish the Sound and the Atlantic waters off the south shore, roughly the same areas you fish when you’re not down south.
I want to leave this note to thank you for your videos. I’ve been a subscriber for years and I never miss any of them. In part, because I’m so limited physically, I’m living vicariously through your adventures. Again, thank you, John.
    Your fan,

I'm 69 and been fishing for bass in the san Francisco Bay for 60 years, you guys are lucky on the east coast with all these nice fish, in the early 90s all our big bass disappear, all we catch now is 18-22 inch fish, but the numbers of these small fish have been on the rise lately, but again so far this year all small. Thanks!

Too be honest I think it’s because of the warm water, stripers are more aggressive and spawn in colder waters, that why we have 50+lbs but I don’t know San Fran’s striper regulations on what you can keep. Up in the northeast it’s very strict. But I don’t live there so I could be wrong

I love the ones I have (One of the light ones and one of the heavier ones.) but it would be great if you had the same rod with 3 or 4" removed from the Butt end and marketed them as Kayak versions. I find I have to hold them out just a little too far for comfort when I am sitting in the kayak.

This shows the 3-way - th-cam.com/video/5vFnK4kgPxY/w-d-xo.html. The 3-way uses a sinker to get a roughly 1-ounce bucktail down. It's advantage is that you can use heavy sinkers.

West coast. I’m not a big Howard Stern fan, but I think you sound a lot like him. We have Stripers out here, apparently imported back in the 1800’s or early 1900’s from the East coast. They are well established here, unfortunately to the detriment of the salmon and steelhead populations. But, they are here to stay. A buddy of mine guides for Stripers on the Sacramento and Feather Rivers. The Stripers are usually full of salmon smolt. Between drought years, poor water management (too much demand, not enough water), and predation, the salmon populations have plumeted, and we can no longer fish for Chinook salmon.
I am looking forward to fishing the East coast for Stripers someday.
