One time I was waiting for a Metro bus and this boy who looked like a teenager or possibly preteen was standing nearby and kept getting close to me. I kept looking at him crazy and was about to say something to him until I realized he had something wrong with him. Down syndrome or something and then I noticed he was being assisted by an adult male. I felt bad afterwards and I'm glad I didn't say anything to him. I was about to tell him to back the heck up and that he was rude. Lol. It must be hard for the chaperones, especially loved ones, who watch over these types of kids and fearing somebody will mess with them or not realize something is wrong with them mentally and that it is not their fault. Always having to explain that to ppl, too.. I feel for them and the kids. 😢
@@E.V.A.N-COProductions I understand that. But I excused him bc I could tell he didn't have the mental capacity to understand that what he was doing was pretty bothersome. I agree, but the one supervising the autistic child should have not allowed him to bend / destroy that mans property. Guess he would have been more in the right to slap the supervising older sister or the childs mother / father. Either way the dude got his merc messed up, likely his baby, his pride and joy, and someone recklessly destroyed the hood ornament. Be it on bad parenting, autism, hot temper, or whatever, I'd say slapping the kid quick and obviously not full on swing, knock em over kinda power, is a far better reaction vs what crazy stuff you see others doing these days... I mean they are living out of a vehicle, what if the dude decided to call the cops? Press charges? Dad would likely rather he just give his son a lil slap at the end of the day. The whole situation is just wrong all around from all parties involved. Sucks it's a kid stuck in the middle tho :/
🙄 how the hell would he know the kid was autistic? All he probably saw was a kid vandalise his car and sit there laughing about it. Maybe his carers should control the kid better to avoid. Maybe make him wear a shirt that clearly explains his mental condition.
Not surprised! He decided to assault a disabled hispanic kid and offend an entire community. I get the kid bent the emblem on his car but that is no excuse to assault anyone let alone a kid that can't defend himself.
God Bless all of those in my community who have reached this family. It shows we still have beautiful people in Pacoima. I hope this family also blessed immensely.
The family shouldn’t be blessed, the man should. Instead the family should get sued because the kid damaged the man’s property. It doesn’t matter how many disabilities you have, it doesn’t justify you to break other people’s property

Even if your kid loves to touch things, autism or not, you should still teach your kid to keep their hands to themselves and at the very least teach them the habit of asking permission to touch something that isnt theirs Neither sides are in the right imo
Are you serious? You can barely teach a severely autistic kid to blow his nose or drink from a cup. They don't understand words or even simple direction. If you have a way to teach them boundaries which is something very difficult close to impossible to explain to them, then you deserve a Nobel prize for revolutionary findings in the field. Please educate yourself before talking nonsense and learn to be more tolerant. These parents are exhausted and have been through enough.
The man should not have hit the kid make that clear. However the boy should not be braking hood ornaments on peoples Mercedes or other cars just because he has autism doesn't give him the right to vandalize cars and he should be prosecuted for destruction of private property. And if they know he likes touching things that don't belong to him they need to pay more attention to him and his hands. He is lucky he just got slapped in other neighborhoods it could have been way worse him and his sister.
The kid did not break the hood ornament. It moves as part of the process of opening the hood along with a second tab that pops the hood open. He hit him because he thought he was laughing at him. He was on an ego trip. If he had controlled his anger, he would not be in this mess.
Prosecuted? an autistic child? Seriously? 🤦 Obviously, you don't have a relative or a child who has autism. They are categorized as "disabled" because the majority of them (especially in severe cases) cannot control themselves, nor understand their environment. I would understand if their parents would be the ones to be liable for the kids' actions, but your opinion is nonetheless inept of people with autism.
@@imatter4619 Well... the kid is in for a surprise when he grow up and keeps destroying other people's stuff. His child face won't be able to save him anymore.
Dont send your autistic child out into the street with another child who cannot control them. That kid is parents responsibility & should be charged for damages. Dude shouldn't have smacked him, but Mercedes are expensive he worked his asz off for that car only for some parents to ignore their burden allowing him to become others burdens by destroying property. Sick or not dont touch things that arent yours.
I know from experience that many times kids with Autism are never held to any standard, because the parents are completely incapable of dealing with the child. So, when the poor child comes into contact with normal people “in the wild”, the kid is likely to get themselves in trouble.
Autistic adult here, yeah majority of parents don’t raise us right, whether they raise us as if we’re non disabled, or they use our disabilities to make excuses for us “not knowing better” when they are the ones that are meant to teach us in ways we’re meant to understand.
Autism is a spectrum and you really don't know where this child lands. And aside from parenting and autism, would you slap any child for touching your car? Like for real, as a grown person, would you do that to somebody half your size and a fraction of your age? I think it's embarrassing that a grown man would do that.
@@Panfila303 I didn’t even watch the video, so I can’t comment specifically on what this guy did, but I ve worked with autistic kids , and often times, it’s those kids who are violent and throw the first punch, or get themselves in trouble some other way. Actually, it just takes the parents, but if the parents won’t do the job, then it falls on the community to do it. One way or another, an autistic child will be raised by the parents, by the community, or by the police.
Both sides are wrong. Family shouldve watch the kid so he doesnt break anything which he did on an expensive car that the owner has to pay out of pocket. Id be pissed too if someone was vandalizing my car but also wrong on the guy to slap the kid. Keep it civil.

Nah, doesn't matter if your kid is autistic, control your kids behavior. That man shouldn't have slapped the kid, but still, having an autistic child doesn't mean you're going to let them act out. The only abuse I see are two very irresponsible parents neglecting to keep their children housed. On top of that, this is Pacoima. People are outraged over this, but have no problem when their kids are out at 3am stealing cars.

He's their little moneymaker.
It's clear you don't understand the difference between severe and high-functioning autism. With a severely autistic child, it's not as simple as "control your kid". Many of them have the mentality of a toddler and sometimes can get away from you in the blink of an eye to run towards something that has caught their attention. No parent is "letting them act out" and the best they can do is explain and apologize in a situation like this.
IM GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN HERE but as far as I can see, it doesn't even qualify as a slap because he barely touched him. THAT BEING SAID NOBODY SHOULD EVER LAY A HAND ON ANOTHER MANS KID!! An adult doing this is crazy!!!
Not sure what the mother said or what language barriers existed, but I doubt the driver knew the child was autistic. People will clamor on that though just like any hate crime where people throw around somebodies disabilities/ethnicities/etc in order to justify more punishment. It's also a shield to muffle the outrage bad behavior would normally result in. I could understand if the child (or mother) said that they were autistic and then bent the drivers emblem back. Don't think this situation went down like that.
The autistic child was not laughing, he is too autistic to understand the situation. what you are seeing is not laughter and it is not malicious. You can see the older sister talking really fast to the man, I will assume she is trying to explain and apologize for what has happened (that is what it looks like). The older sister is NOT laughing OR smiling, she is very serious and concerned because she understands the situation and she looks scared. Yes the child damaged the mans car but that does NOT, under any circumstances, justify a grown man hitting a child he doesn't even know! In what world, does what the man did, help the situation or fix the car ornament in any way ?
his car wasnt damaged though, and he knew it. those ornaments are on a spring mechanism, they ALWAYS have been. they bend 360* without breaking, and if pushed back specifically, they'll lie back. pull them slightly up or forward, and they return to the upright position. maybe you somehow went rhoguh life never touching a hood ornament to not realize this, but every single Mercedes owner knows this. he knew to an absolute certainty that nothing was broken or damaged in the least. he just got so upset over a small, young child DARING to touch his car, that he pulled over, got out, screamed long enough for someone to record, then slapped him
If you don't teach your child manners at home, they'll be thought by the streets. The parent should have offered to pay for the damage first and foremost, instead of hiding behind the kid's condition. The slap was wrong, but not surprising.
i remember playing with those hood ornaments all the time as a kid, they move around attached with a spring or some mess. You can usually push them back, they'll stay back, then pop back up if lifted
It popped right back into place and even if it had been ripped off you don't touch other people's kids, much less hit them. Well, maybe _you_ do, but it's against the law.
This is blown out of proportions. 20K $ for a small slap? Many of us have felt the pain of our mothers slippers. Kids misbehave and need to be corrected. Teachers can't even grab a student by the arm to get them out of their classroom without getting fired.
This is nuts. The kids vandalized the guy’s car and got rewarded for it, and everyone is patting him on his back like a hero? Meanwhile the guy’s life is getting destroyed for something that barely counts as a slap? I thought he legit knocked the kid out, but he barely touched him. America is nuts. People are so out for blood. I don’t even blame the kids, since he’s mentally ill, but it’s his parents/caretakers’ job to supervise him 24/7 if he can’t be left alone. Society shouldn’t have to endure your devil spawn just because he has issues.
I have to agree! Disabled or not, letting your kid run around and vandalize other’s belongings is unacceptable. And no obviously he shouldn’t have touched the boy at all, you don’t hurt children, you settle the damages with his parents. But if can't break it in 1 hour you will have to give me $1000.
You're absolutely correct, but no one wants to hear it. It implies the parents did not uphold their responsibilities and no parent of an autistic (or otherwise) child wants to be forced to relate
Not going to lie if anyone bent the hood ornament on my Mercedes (if I owned one) I'd be pretty upset too. Yes, what he did was wrong but I am sure there are several others in this comment section that would have been angry with the kid as well. Hard to say how you'd really react if you weren't there. The heat of the moment is different than watching a TH-cam video.
Mercedes hood ornaments are mounted so they can move, because if they were permanently upright they would be a significant hazard for pedestrians who were struck by this car.
This video is disingenuous, the boy bent the freaking emblem of the car as he was trying to remove it, this happened while the mom was present which is scummy low life behavior. Also that's a tap and not a slap, didn't even make contact with the boys face.
Yeah, it was a bit much, dude still shouldn’t have touched the kid. I have an autistic kid, extremely hard to control in public. Think of a two year old toddler in a 10 year old body, they have impulses, can’t exactly put them in a stroller or carry them like conventional babies

We do not live in the US, we're from Germany. I think the boy in the video is just like my brother, however his condition is worst than my brother, because he does not have stable conditions and it does not look like he goes to school or ever learnt how to socialise. I hope he will be able to get behavioral therapy and the chance to socialise with other kids in school. Of course something like this happens when he A) a severely autistic kid who was never taught meets B) a grown man who obviously lacks the exposure of special needs people. Also, comments suggesting to leave people home just because they are autistic - this is impossible. They are human beings too, and they require exercise and exposure to other people as well, or they will get "crazy". This is not at all true. In general, people don't go around slapping other people's children. Back in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, that might have been the case, but not these days. The days of the strap in the classroom is long gone for example.
@@s.b.sieber2007 Child trafficking and sex crimes are the highest they've ever been. So they can get their car fixed. Someone started it for them I guess because they felt sorry for them. I don’t think it’s right, taking advantage of a situation. Most of the money probably came from the ‘rapper’ who ‘sings’ about shooting people and abusing women.
autism isnt an excuse for letting the kid touch other people's stuff. i have autistic nephews i would never let them cause that situation to begin with.
Btw as I am seeing both sides for this I will say both are in the wrong, first the parents needs to teach their children about touching stuff whether they have autism or not, And about the guy that slapped the child, that action is too far, In conclusion; teach your child, don't make an excuse, and hitting a random child is wrong.
But they fail to mention why he slapped him in the first place? If someone messes with an expensive car, sorry to break it to you, this falls on the parent’s shoulders. Understandably, you shouldn’t lay your hands on someone with mental disabilities, however the parents are at fault here. What bothers me even more is the fact that they’re playing the victims here 🤣 your son messed with someones car and all of a sudden his response is all people care about.
Being autistic isn't an excuse to touch someone's property. That's comparable to a person with ADHD beating someone or destroying something, then it's justified by saying "oh well he has ADHD so therefore not liable for any damage or crime". No, that's simply not how the world works. People have all sorts of mentality. Someone out there won't tolerate their property being messed with regardless of who the perpetrator is, as clearly seen in this video. Also that slap wasn't even that hard, it seemed more like a disciplinary slap. But it's not suprising why people are so upset and whining about it, the world has become soft as hell.
Soooo its ok to break the hood ornament of someone elses car just because im autistic? Lets say he didnt slap the kid…now what? Im sure all those supporters will help right? We get the slap part but apparently no one cares about property or consequences. I mean they said he likes to touch things so you would think if you take him places you would pay attention…just sayin.
why does literally nobody seem to know how car hood ornaments work? they've been making them the exact same way for at least five decades now. they attach with a heavy duty spring mechanism. they can be bent 360 degrees, never causing any damage. of you push them backwards specifically, they'lll lay down. The slightest pull forward or up, and they jump back to the default standing position. you can bend one backwards like this 50,000 times and not break it. this is like think you've "broken" a door by opening it. he bent it a way it is specifically engineered to bend harmlessly. and the car owner would have known this, even if you dont
Thats not the point…you cant go around doing whatever you want, especially going up to a car and messing with it physically…and of course dudes an idiot for slapping the kid. 2 wrongs dont make a right 😎 dont blame society because apparently this kid needs a leash, thats on the parents. Mayne best he stays home if this has been an issue? Anyhow we are all just living in a world others think is their own

@Snuffedstar2004 It doesn't justify hitting someone, either on or off the spectrum. But the other question that's never asked is, is it wrong to hold a child on the spectrum accountable for his actions? He's autistic, not braindead. Autistic people can learn right from wrong and to act accordingly. You can take that from someone with Asperger's.
it wasnt damaged. Mercedes hood ornaments.... and virtually ever car ornament for the past 45 years +, are attached with a spring mechanism. they bend 360 degrees and lie flat backwards, never causing damage. you just slightly lift or pull the medallion with the tiniest pit of pressure and they return to the default standing position. i suppose they do this because it makes it much harder for them to be broken off, you would have to be not just a man, but a strong man to ever actually break one. and while you somehow went through life never realizing this very basic thing, the Mercedes owner 100% knew
It’s very misleading!!!! What would everyone else do if their prize possession item was destroyed or damaged by that autistic boy……. I think most of everyone would be very upset and would confront the boy. The man didn’t slap the boy for no reason!!! The boy damaged the man’s vehicle and because he’s autistic that somehow justifies his actions!!! I have an autistic cousin and he does the same behavior and we have him super close to us in order to prevent a situation from happening.
Exactly. Also, it's clear the sister can't handle or be responsible for her brother's actions. Parents should be caring for him. He's their responsibility after all. Hope guy sues for a new emblem cause they have 20k in gofund, they can afford it.
Whats absolutely disgusting is was a GoFundMe necessary?? They got help repairing there vehicle, needed housing help. Was this all necessary? For a slap that looked like the kind where you take your fist and tap there chin, as a good going gesture.
Because victims want free money, especially the self proclaimed ones. That kid is not autistic he just has horrible parents. Almost all parents that claim their kids have autism are really just crappy parents.
I’m sure the man doesn’t know the kid has autism. Not everyone is aware of kids with autism. Kids with autism look normal, but they act like a 2-3 years old. My son is 7 years old diagnosed with autism since 18 month. He acts just like this poor kid, touches everything he sees, and laughs for no reason. I worry all the time for his safety. Hope this child gets as much help and support that he needs. It’s hard to find the right support out there. Best wishes to him and his family.
So reward a family who’s kid vandalized someone’s property and completely destroy the man’s business and NOT blame the caretakers of the child to watch him 24/7? My mom would have slapped me if I did something like that, his slap didn’t even count as a slap but of course people are soft.
Hold up there, cowboy! The _autistic_ kid who vandalized someone's property. It was the actions of the man who slapped the boy (autistic or not) who's responsible for his business taking a hit. What makes them sound illegal is that they're living in a van with two kids & supposedly receiving NO services from the gov. An American family would have at least signed up for food stamps or maybe tried to get some type of help for their child with special needs. But if you have a kid that does that, you gotta confine that behavior. Mercedes isn't cheap! That guy has a right to his property being free from damage too. He didn't hit him that hard, ffs! It was just a little pat. Did he wind up and slug him? No. The family is getting resources to help them. I think that man shouldn't hit anybody. I also think autistic people don't have the right to damage property either. I think the two acts should cancel each other out.
I was looking passively out the picture windows of the laundromat I manage and realized there was an adult black male smoking a blunt with his car doors swung open sitting there staring at the two little kids 'with him' as they were prying up the newly repaired asphalt from our parking lot. A toddler staggering around with a square foot of tarmac and the other throwing the rubble and bits across the lot. I went outside and just asked "What the hell am I looking at, here?!?" Jesus, people. Also, this seems to have turned into a real boon for these people. Who filmed it?
He should not have done it regardless .. but he barely touched the kid, to be honest. It's not like he clocked him. I don't think he should have his life ruined over it. Those ornaments are expensive. The kid probably has done this before, and it's a habit. I had one bent off an old classic Mercedes I used to have.
He barely touched the kid. Granted, he shouldn't have swung at him at all but people are making a mountain out of a molehill. Maybe he'll learn to keep his hands off other people's stuff now.
I wondered myself why if he often has issues with behavior like that and his sister can’t stop him why weren’t any of the adults with? Why couldn’t one of the adults go get food?
As someone who has autism, that cellphone video was painful to watch for me. I may be higher on the spectrum than the boy, but that doesn't matter to me. Autism is autism, regardless of where you are on the spectrum. That man is a coward for slapping the boy for doing something he loves doing, not even realizing that it's just a part of who he is. And to the SoCal community, you all have big hearts. Not only are you standing up for the boy and his family, but you're doing everything you can to make sure this family has a better future. To all who are helping this family, you have my full support. I hope the man get justice, and the boy and his family get the resources they need to have a bright future ahead. If there's ANYTHING I can do to spread the word about this, please let me know. I want to make sure this boy and his family are safe and in a place where they can feel safe.
I'm glad that family is getting the support they need, but I feel like the man was penalized too harshly for an event that clearly induced major stress in him. He could have done far worse, and it does take patience and humility to avoid conflict in a situation like this.
The guy was wrong to do that. Seems the amount of autistic Hispanics is outrageously high. It's obviously not only them who suffer from it, but it seems like a lack of intelligence and understanding in their diet is making a huge difference and the development of their infants. Not the proper foods or nutrients because rather than eat normal foods like they did in their countries they are eating all the worst stuff here in this country and that has to count for something during pregnancy and infancy. Now even public schools have to keep autistic children and non-autistic children together rather than in separate classrooms causing problems with both groups being able to get the proper care and education they need.
My niece has sever autistic. She is very fast and strong. You can't keep an eye on them every second or tide them up so they dont move. Especially very hard if the family dont have any medical resources to help.
I worked with SEVERELY autistic kids for 4 years, 90% of the families would allow all sorts of bad behavior because they were too lazy to deal with things properly, those kids were horrifically spoiled. The 10% of families that actually were very strict and consistent had absolutely wonderful kids. I quit that job because I couldn't deal with the helicopter moms threatening to have me fired or sued for restraining their kid who was literally trying to bite another kids face off (happened three times) There is also only so many times you can have your nose smashed in from a headbutt and still stay clam and level. We have an autism epidemic and a lack of parenting (accountability) epidemic, the cross section will destroy society
So you would be okay if a total stranger walked up to your child (with or without special needs)? I highly doubt it. Yes the young boy shouldn’t have touched his car but that was no way to react as an adult. Not acceptable to slap a child like that. What a bunch of ignorant replies.

@@thefox47545 Bending is permanent damage. It is unacceptable that this kid goes around touching everything and is destructive, and the family allows it. If your child has a disability, it is all the more important that you train him to behave, for his own safety.
Right fast! They are both wrong cuz the kids parent shouldn't have let the kid near the car emblem if he was going to bend it and almost rip it off so I'd be mad also but he shouldnt have hit the little kid but the mother should pay for the damages!
Nobody should hit a child, at the same time the child should not have damaged other people's property, and if he is mentally impaired then it is the responsibility of the accompanying person to ensure that he keeps his hands to himself.

Whatever, maliciously putting your hands on a LITTLE KID automatically makes you the one in the wrong.
his car wasnt damaged though, and he knew it. those ornaments are on a spring mechanism, they ALWAYS have been. they bend 360* without breaking, and if pushed back specifically, they'll lie back. pull them slightly up or forward, and they return to the upright position. maybe you somehow went rhoguh life never touching a hood ornament to not realize this, but every single Mercedes owner knows this. he knew to an absolute certainty that nothing was broken or damaged in the least. he just got so upset over a small, young child DARING to touch his car, that he pulled over, got out, screamed long enough for someone to record, then slapped him
If you don't teach your child manners at home, they'll be thought by the streets. The parent should have offered to pay for the damage first and foremost, instead of hiding behind the kid's condition. The slap was wrong, but not surprising.

I have a little brother with severe autism, and he is non verbal too. He has the mind of a two year old, so he does not understand at all when you talk to him. However, we have our own house with a garden and a great support system, and he goes to school where he learns how to watch out for dangers and how to behave on the street.
But they fail to mention why he slapped him in the first place? If someone messes with an expensive car, sorry to break it to you, this falls on the parent’s shoulders. Someone out there won't tolerate their property being messed with regardless of who the perpetrator is, as clearly seen in this video. why does literally nobody seem to know how car hood ornaments work? they've been making them the exact same way for at least five decades now. they attach with a heavy duty spring mechanism. they can be bent 360 degrees, never causing any damage. of you push them backwards specifically, they'lll lay down. The slightest pull forward or up, and they jump back to the default standing position. you can bend one backwards like this 50,000 times and not break it. this is like think you've "broken" a door by opening it. he bent it a way it is specifically engineered to bend harmlessly. and the car owner would have known this, even if you dont

it wasnt damaged.
