I'm sad Sleepycast is ending but I'm happy it existed. I understand everyone has to take care of other things so thank you all for the laughs and making every single podcast made to be returnable. I've been relistening to a lot of season one and it's amazing because you miss stuff the first time. I could go on and on.

1:30 Ok, this is very interesting to me that both culvers and whataburger were brought one after the other. I've had both, and I swear that they are owned by the same company and serving the same food under different regional names. They're asthetic and burgers are identical to me and it really disappointed me when everyone I knew down south told me it would basically one of the best things I'd ever taste. It wasn't. However, In-n-out was awesome.

I love you guys, kinda hope you weren't leaving, but you know what they say... All good things must come to an end.
The only time recently I've done this was last year. I went out to Outback also and we had a full table. I havent been there in years but for me when i see a price tag of 25 bucks a good meal I go WHOA.
Whatever, this ticket is going to be like 100 bucks easy. They're gonna get a fat juicy tip and we're going to get fed, its all good. I wanted a Margarita with my meal. This sounds like a big story, its not. I got it, took a drink and immediately just told everyone to try it. It was basically straight water. I have no clue what they thought they were passing to me, but it was SO bad to the point that i had to bring it up.
Just them, I'm not the type to really complain. I've had good margarita's some bad ones but they still usually have the taste of liquor or alcohol, but this was nearly see through and just all around not a good time. I said it tasted really flat and that I didn't want it. The waitress was nice though and asked if i wanted another one and i agreed. The second drink tasted great.... like very good, what i expected. My thing is, why was there two different versions? A ticket thats going to hit 100 bucks and they wanna skimp on a drink???
That was actually the topic of the night. So if anyone is reading this, please let me know your opinion. If your ticket is going to breech 100 dollars for the table (there was 4 of us btw so possibly more people could be more lenient) is it alright to make a minor complaint? Or at least, what is the boundary set for when you find it is okay to make a complaint?
As someone who was a server for years, if something is wrong with your food or drink, TELL ME. Let me know. I'm literally here to SERVE you. But just know, we as servers can tell when you're bullshitting. We know when people just want free food. If you ate your whole burger and say something was wrong I'm not gonna want to help you. But if your food looks burnt, if your rare steak is too grey, let me know and I'll do everything in my power to get it fixed as fast as possible. We do NOT want you to have a bad time in our restaurant.
BLAjtucker I always imagined the "spit in your food" response to complaints, not that i think every place i go to will do this, but its partly that but more so I dont want to inconvenience someone else. With that being said, a drink not being strong sounds like something small that i shouldnt have brought up, but it was just such a jarring difference in quality to expectation that it was one of the few times i felt wrong having that on my tab :/
Khodakadahmi you ordered an alcoholic beverage. Those are like 10+ dollars at restaurant. If you're paying for something, like alcohol, then you should receive it. If your drinks didn't taste like alcohol then there probably wasn't any in there. It's like ordering shrimp Alfredo and getting 1 or 2 shrimp.

As someone who's worked at a grocery store and at a bank, I can tell you a couple of things. First, the more you get paid at your job, the less Karens you'll end up dealing with. At a grocery store, you will run across so many a-hole "I need to talk to the manager" types. Literally trying to come in 10 minutes after closing and coming back the next day to complain to the manager that they didn't let you in when you pounded on the door for 5 minutes. Or throwing an actual temper tantrum because the cashier you have a crush on is out helping stock and you have to go up front and check out there instead (not even having to wait - just not getting the cashier you wanted and claiming it's not the cashier - you just "only like checking out in lane 3" 🙄).
And while you'll find far less of it at more respectable jobs like at a bank or at a doctor's office, you'll still see plenty of those people. Not only the ones who will freak out when you tell them "Sorry, but you can't do this thing. Yes, I am sure. I've been working here for years and I've seen people like you ask about it and everyone will tell you the same thing." But also, some people lose their sh*t over getting ID'd. At least at the bank I worked at, we'd shuffle employees around between branches sometimes when different people were gone on vacation and stuff. So when you're at a different branch and you know absolutely no one there, you need to be IDing everyone before giving them money. Now any sane person like me would just be like "Oh, sure. Here's my ID." and go about your business. But there are always a handful of people that will freak out. "I've been coming to this bank every week for the last 3 years! How dare you not know who I am!" Even if we do see you every week, we see hundreds of faces every day and aren't going to remember every single person's name off the top of our head. I've literally seen people close out their account and take their money to another bank on the other side of town - somewhere that would be a 10 minute drive out of their way instead of being on their way home - just because they were mad someone didn't know their name.
If I ever had a friend who freaked out like that about getting ID'd at a bar or anywhere - hell, if your first instinct when you don't get everything exactly your way is to freak out - I am never going to be friends with that person again. Luckily I've never had friends like that. Choose your friends wisely, people.

Corey is the best member of the podcast. It took me that episode where only 3 of them were on the podcast to realize this.
It is weird getting carded when, at least I think I look clearly old enough. I don't drink, but sometimes when I buy an M rated game or something like that, get certain medicine's or products from Wal-Mart, and they ask to see my ID, it just feels weird. I never argue or anything, I just show them my ID, and buy it. It just makes me wonder if I don't look like I'm older than 18, or maybe they're a very nervous employee who doesn't want to risk it, they really don't want to worry about losing their job.
If you think they're gonna give you the same plate back, just heavily salt it before you give it to them. Boom, problem solved.

Fun fact, McDonalds burgers are flat because we have to put them through this machine that squeezes them through these tight parallel heated conveyer belt things, and the patties are cooked under these heated box things that slightly press them. This is most likely the case for other fast food joints too but I've only worked at McDingle's.
They have Whataburger in Fl so not a midwest exclusive thing.

the point of checking the id isnt to make sure they are of age its to make sure they do not have any restrictions. for example if you get enough DUI's they will chop your licence and give you one back that says under no circumstances is this person to be sold alcohol because they cannot be trusted to not get behind the wheel of a car and taking off into a school zone blasted off their ass on vodka tonics. this is why you ask questions, so when people lose their shit about being asked you can inform them it is for safety purposes not because they might be a 17 year old in old person makeup.

It's crazy how holographic sound payback is nowadays, especially when people used nice mics. Back when I would have first listened to the sleepycabin podcasts, I never noticed this shit, but around 4:25 you can hear like a water kettle going off. I swear, I'm just playing this over the speakers on my galaxy s22 ultra, but like, I swear every time I double take thinking it's my water kettle.
I can't tell if it's youtube having increased their audio quality or what, but I've gone back through like ten years of videos and podcasts and I can hear alarms going off, car doors being shut, fucking people sneezing in other rooms. Like when I first started working out of my garage, I got hella fucking paranoid because I swear to God I kept hearing car doors closing, and it took me like two months to realize they were being picked up on the mics of videos I was watching and were left in on accident.

Poor Zach. 02:04 You can tell there's something wrong with his nasal passages (same thing that causes his voice to be the way it is). You can hear when he's coughing that he can't breathe. That's a pretty mild cough for it to be causing major issues like that. Deviated septum? I've never heard of the nose being completely blocked like that. And another sad part too is that if he ever got surgery to correct it, it very well might kill is VA career since that's like his trademark.
