Offchain labs has actually never said there would be a token and has said multiple times they currently have no intention of token. Arbi token talk on twitter is mostly engagement farming.
As of now it will use optimistic fraud proofs which is what Optimism uses. I believe the position optimism has taken is that they will be able to upgrade their provers to validity proofs (ZK) when the time is right.

The zkSync guy was talking about it the optimism twitter etc. OR are lacking the trustlessness factor their prover technology is clearly inferior at the moment. So I want a clear answer from them not tip toeing around the issue.
