    Luckily the puffballs i hunt for are giant puffballs, which are bigger than earthballs. Today i discovered earthballs in my area, but its not near my house

      @goblin_frog I run a commercial wild mushroom business in the pacific northwest. I sell thousands of lbs of mushrooms every year, morels, chanterelles, lobsters,pine mushrooms,king bolete.puffballs are everywhere I don't even bother picking them .they have no flavor and are mushy .no one wants to buy puffballs.

    You say most puffballs are edible. That's a little vague still. Does that mean there are species of puffballs that are inedible that could be mistaken for the puffballs in this video, or that puffballs only when white inside are edible?

    • @gamerfroggy4910
      @gamerfroggy4910 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      only when white inside, the young ones are the only ones worth eating. Get a book before picking any mushroom and check some kind of online guide. Only pick when you're confident

    • @gamerfroggy4910
      @gamerfroggy4910 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Puffballs will generally have white flesh too, and there's multiple species of both

    Can you mistake young white amanita mushrooms for puffballs ? Seen photos where they can look similar in the early egg shaped stage.

    • @UKWILDCRAFTS
      @UKWILDCRAFTS  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They can potentially, but if you cut a young Amanita in half you will see the embryonic mushroom curled up. Whereas puffballs will be solid flesh

    Today I woke up to 3 of these things in my house (the earth balls) no clue where they came from, as my cats are indoor but they were clearly the culprits. None of them were exploded besides a few teeth holes thankfully. I didn’t know what it was at first so I picked up and squeezed it. Bad idea 🙃🙃🙃🙃 lmao

      Depends what species, as there are many psilocybin species. Depends where you are and what time of year. I think fall through spring in the PNW for wavy caps, p. azures.. and late spring in the east for ovoids in riverbanks and flood planes around creeks, streams etc and in the south east cow fields in summer for cubes

    The earth mushroom's insides remind me of those 100 year old eggs, I think that's what they're called anyway?! Either way, the eggs look very scary, and to me, it looks like they're eating a demon egg, imho, js!! If I remember correctly, they were black inside, yucky either way, tbh!!!!🙄😳🥺😬🤔🫢😣🫣🤢🤮
