    Oh no! See if you can get a nice big steel cassette. Once you are on 72 volts you want just a couple of big gears. Space them out to get the straightest chain line. For PAS I used to set it at 800 watts max. Thanks for the nice words. Cheers

    Yep Mr sparky mr HV is a cool dude ,as for your gear ratio 11,17,34 are the best three gears to have but you cant fit three gears on a cassette, you will also eventually brake your derailleur doing jumps and the motor as well...the best solution is to put a gates belt and inventa three speed hub with those ratios.....as soon as you find one let me know lol...nice video !

    I switched over to a Shimano zee detailer with a clutch, holds the chain nice and tight. Paired with a SRAM 9 speed shifter.

    I went through 10 cassettes and a new chain every month for a while so I switch Out my Derailleur and bought a 8 speed internal geared hub and it was not snapped a chain since and I have not replace rear coge either. It was the chain line making the stuff brake but now it's a perfect chainline and no issues. THANKS FOR VIDEO. I am putting a 52volt bbshd 3300watt controller on mine and it fitting in stock place in my motor it's from eletricphy a company in Australia I think. 412.89 Canadian dollars Then I will be going alot fast. Yippee

    I only use throttle for maintaining speed going around corners (to avoid pedal strikes) and maybe trail riding where the pedal assist isn’t desirable. Otherwise i use the karls special sauce settings and let the power ramp up with pas

      Isn't that dangerous especially if you forget to disable the PAS at stops?

    Great video. You sound like a BBSHD expert, like me. Refreshing to hear someone with actual grasp of the nature of our motor. In my experience gears 3-8(especially 4-6) on my 9 gear cassette become worn after 4000km and require replacing. Now, I'm using a KMC X9 chain with a shimano HG-400S(heavy carbon steel) cassette, Shimano XT derailleur, and lekie bling ring 42T. With these components I'm able to get over 6000kms b4 having to replace drive-train components. The KMC X series is by far the most durable bike chain. fwi... My BBSHD peaks at 2200 watts with a custom 67V21Ah battery and tops out around 70km/h

    You might want to consider an internally geared hub like the Sturmey Archer 5-speed. It's been tested at over 3KW without any problems. It would also enable you to use a single-speed chain, which is a much stronger option than a derailleur chain as it doesn't need to flex sideways and your chainline remains straight in any gear. In addition the shorter chain doesn't slap every time you go over a bump and the dirt can't get into your gears.

    Chain skipping is usually from the setup of the rear derailleur. I have built several mid drives, and that is usually the issue. Unless of coarse it was just a hiccup.

    • @SparkyBikes
      @SparkyBikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya, this skip was my fault as I had forgot to lock the gold lever on the back of the Shimano Saint. No skipping since.

    Subscribed and been running through your vids. Thank you! Been running a 52v ~21ah hardcase battery with 52t front ring, enables pedalling at +50km/hr. (Phaserunner controller) So far so good. Do you know of a place that will build a 72v with my existing case? (Vancouver BC Canada). Side note: I'd heard pedalling with 72v is redundant - acts more like a motorbike. Can u still pedal going +50km/hr with your 72v system (obviously bearing in mind whatever gear ratio u have). I figure Id still pedal fine at lower speeds with 72v, but be able to turbo throttle only when needed 😎🚴🏼💨

    Yep I destroyed two good quality Shimano drivetrains with 1500 watts. The only way forward is single speed and thick chain at the output youre pushing out. I use an Alfine 8 although not sure how long it'll last its done 1500 miles ok so far.

    Great video. What limit how you overvolt the engine with the controller ? I though we needed to get a bigger controller AND a bigger battery. Right now the easiest solution would be Grintech Frankenrunner controller with a 52v battery, how do i know if my battery can handle an increased discharge rate, is that the C rate ?

    • @SparkyBikes
      @SparkyBikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late response. It's using Mr HV (High Voltage) kit that replace the stock controller. You can run 52V with his kit but you really need 72V to take full advantage of the power. The battery needs to handle 50A continuously and maxes around 70A for burst. You're basically looking at a custom battery pack; I got mine made by one of his team member RioCole. There's also a guy on ebay that sells the 72V though his is limited on the size as I don't believe he does custom shapes and change the battery configuration. Mine was made to fit my frame specifically and have Rio get as many batteries in there as possible.

      My EM3EV 52V 20Ah battery on 1:1 gear ratio also drains fast for some reason. Using on short hills only during the 50 mile commute. The current staya around 15Amps on 17% hills and controller is slightly warm.

    if your your chain skips it wears cassette and it doesnt take much to round it off . put a 3 dpeed i.g.h hub in it and try that. i converted mine to 8 speed i.g.h .i have had that idea tesla should make ebike batteries that can be charged in minutes on there super chargers and they could charge 5 or ten bucks for fast charge and at home it would use regular charger , so if you are out having fun on ebike you can go to fast charge station and get a 1 min charge. 👓👊👍🏻🚬

    To be honest 2600w is way too much power for an ebike. Ive been ising 1500w for two years and over 20,000kms and ive just downgraded to 750w. Its all you need. 4kw is just a death wish

    • @uvwuvw-ol3fg
      @uvwuvw-ol3fg 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1500W on a mid-drive is good only when you want more consistent speed for better bike balance in traffic on 10-20% hills without overheating.

      It isn’t actually. Mountain bikes with really good suspensions and street tires are stable at these speeds.
