  • Hello everyone. Today I made a leather wallet using my CO2 laser to cut out the pieces and make holes. I then dyed it with fiebings leather dye and finished the edges with tokonole.

    Strop your beveller every time you are going to use it and when you dye the beveled edges do it with a cotton bud ( much smaller and easier to handle). Also, after the dye has dried, the leather is very dry, so use leather conditioner before you bend the leather, to restore the softness and the leather will last longer; then wax it. Great design, I like it.

      @@alisforgediy Not trying to hassle you but just trying to help, as you have a great product and great technique already; just a bit of fine tuning it and trying other things. Keep up the great work bro.

    Looks like 5oz leather (?)
    I use a maximum 3.5oz - 4.0oz for wallets. If it has layers/pockets like this I slim it down to 3oz max. Makes edge treatment, folding, just everything a little easier on me.

      I agree. That is easier to use. It might be hard to see in the video but I was actually using 3.oz - 4.0oz leather. But anyways, Thank you so much for watching!

      If you have any other suggestions or advice let me know. I’m still growing and learning with this channel and have a lot of room for improvement. All comments are appreciated.

    When glueing parts; how long do you have to wait before it's ready to stitch? :D Awesome video keep it up

      Thank you! It depends on the adhesive you’re using but you really don’t have to wait that long. I usually wait 5-10mins before stitching. One thing to make sure of is that everything is hammered down and use clamps if possible (clamps that are not too hard so it won’t damage the leather). Hope this helps!

    Did you have to clean the edge of the leather after cutting to get rid of residue? if So how? Thanks!

    • @alisforgediy
      @alisforgediy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I usually clean the edge with a cloth first and then sand it. If there is some char that got on the leather, Chamberlain’s Leather Conditioner works well to remove it
