This video is mesmerising. Just hearing the crystal clear audio of the work being done is just pure bliss. Who needs the pumping beats (which has now been done to death!) and energetic shot transitions to make a great video. Bravo to that man.
I own a GlowForge Pro and use it for this all the time. I do not like letting it make the sticking holes. I get it to make a MARK for me to punch the hole, but you cannot get the soot out of the holes, so it makes the thread dirty as all get out. I just do a .25 mm hole and hand punch a 1mm. It is a bit slower, but the final product is a lot cleaner. I also learned to take the back of a blade and scrape the soot off the edges before you remove the tape. I love that you are using it to put in a pattern. Wonderful look!
Also don't forget the smell. Some people to this day won't touch my leather goods after touching an early design.. before I learned to seal it with acrylic.
I absolutely love the straight stitching. Also, that you only burnished the outer edges and left the interior with laser burned edges. Very nice contrast.
It has been awesome watching you grow as a craftsman Ryan. From your workspace, to your equipment, and as an artist. You are an inspiration. Keep posting And keep up the good work.
Yep, after almost a half a year of watching your videos. The Wood Slicker is still my favorite part for some reason :-). I do not make leather goods but your videos are just so relaxing. Great company while I am editing.
Love this! Really nice craft. As a comment to all the "this is not hand made"-comments. The stitching is immaculate and the edge burnish lovely. Try finding that in industrial products. I'm transferring from hobby to business and saving time without compromising the end product is the main objective. For the customer it makes no difference how the leather is cut. Being hand stitched and laser cut is a better end product than hand cut and machine sewn. Keep up the good work Ryan! Your at true inspiration and a guiding star for me as I try to navigate the murky depths of growing a business!
Ordered my glow forge last night now they arrived in the UK. This was the inspiration. Used your link for the discount. Thankyou for the videos you’re an inspiration
mind...blown. very cool. I also really enjoyed the cinematic shots + no music...definitely very different from what you typically see these days in TH-cam videos.
Very tidy workshop. It would be nice to see a video tour of your workshop. Placement of tools and why you have organised it in such a manner and why the design works with your creative process.
Brilliant! From the production to the product, and love the fact that your shop is spotless to be able to work in your socks speaks to your professionalism and product. I'm a fan.
Have you had any problems with light colored thread picking up soot as you stitch? I have heard you can't clean the soot out if the stitching holes so lighter thread can be a problem.
Oh my!! I have a Glowforge and I have been experimenting with leather. I make earrings, but wondered if I could cut out patterns for wallets and such. Thanks again for sharing your awesome gift with us.
This is genius… Loss of a just a liiiiittle bit of « craftsmanship » (for purists), but gain of time and precision, with a perfect result thanks to your skills. This video gives a lot of ideas, thanks a lot!
Very impressive. However this setup in my own work shop would remove much of the fun for me me. I enjoy the design phase so much: making patterns by hand, sewing samples with cloth before cutting hides, etc. I guess I love the struggle but, I don't do leathercraft for a living. Great work, thanks for sharing!
Yea I hear you. When I first started leather craft everything was done by hand. This video is just to show what you can do with a laser. I won’t be using this in my work too often. It’s meant to be a prototyping machine and to cut acrylic templates.
@@LittleKingGoods I understand. To be candid, I'm a bit jealous. I've started using CNC lasers to add detail to some pieces (I like the look over carved/stamped detail). Consider me a skeptical contemporary of your work. Keep it up!
Any particular technique for edge dyeing after burnishing? I've tried it and it never worked for me, the paint didn't catch too well and clumped up towards the bevel.
So this looks the same as the SD vertical wallet but is bigger. In the smaller version that I bought the template for… what would be the use of those outer pockets?? Just decorative ?? Sorry… I just found this again and was going to make a gift for someone. Thanks man !!
Hi, noticed the sand paper you used in the video looks like a dust free disc sandpaper. It’s not the same one you listed in your material list. Where can I purchase the one you used in the video? Thanks so much.
great work! thanks for sharing. how do you get clean stitches when you do laser cut? i find that inside of my pattern holes are burned and when i do the stitching my thread gets discolored and it doesnt look good.
Hello , This is a great video. You make some amazing stuff. I am looking to start using Glowforge for leather craft and am just wondering what kind of leather would you recommend using with it. I am located in Canada and looking to order from OA Leather Supply .Could you also provide details on the leather used for this project?
So... are you saying that the SD card wallet pattern that you link to also fits nintendo switch cartridges? I dont think SD cards and switch cartridges are the same size.
Hello! Great job on your work. I’m contacting you from Italy as I’m interested in purchasing this wallet. It would be a nice gift for myself. However, I need to know if it’s possible to customize the product with a small modification. Could you open one of the long sides so I can fit banknotes inside? Apart from that, the six slots for cards are perfect for me. Please let me know, so I can proceed with the purchase. If needed, we can discuss details privately. Thank you, and once again, congratulations on your excellent work!
ooooo maaan! your workshop looks dope! love that all the workstations in the middle have wheels under them and that laser cutter thing was so satisfying to watch but that custom made clamp 🗜 is the bomb! Keep up the great work man! can’t wait for the next video
I have successfully cut up to 4-5oz, I think 6 might be a stretch on it, technically it should fit (given what 6oz leather is and what the critic can take mm wise) but not all leather is the same thickness throughout... I use the cricut for all my leather cuts and it works okay, but preparing the mats and taping things down can be a pain. The glowforge would be a awesome (Expensive) upgrade, as it can do holes too for stitching. Saving a lot of time creating those to hand stitch.
For the future, when you’re using your laser. If you wet the leather just a tad bit, it will lay completely flat and resist charr and smoke marks. Saves a lot of time on masking and clean up
How does the switch fit into that? Maybe I missed something?? Can you please clarify it for me. I’m interested in the pattern but would like too see it with the switch inside it, if possible? Thanks
WOAH what was that trick you did with tying the knot on your needle thread?? Also 🙏 would you please share your laser settings for cutting? I’m not a fan of how GF’s preset feels so if you have something else, I would love to hear it! Amazing work as ever!
what weight of leather do you use? i use leather in the GF but it is usually thicker and doesn't cut like butter. Also, when i use masking tape, it tends to pull the leather up and doesn't recover very well. this was a great look at how great a project can be using a laser cutter. Great video and even better end product!

@@jimshepherd5291 Do you seal it with acrylic before or after you print it?
soak your leather before putting in glowforge, it realllly helps with the charring. and sandpaper afterwords !
Air compressor, maybe?

Thanks so much Richard!
A video on template creation would be very helpful, and entertaining!!!
Well, that's an awesome new toy. And here I am still printing cardstock templates out for my projects and dreaming of a clicker press.
Im still hand drawing mine on acrylic
I using wrapping paper (it all I have ) for template..
@@kelzcarruthers9859 I was using toilet paper... then when the stores ran out of TP I was forced to buy a glowforge.

Somebody's having fun with his new slider!
Seriously though, very nice work. Nobody shoots these types of videos better than you.
The little crowns add such class to the wallet, magnificent. Are you wearing a leather ring ?

Travail minutieux et impeccable. Magnifique
What are the round pads you use to buff the leather? I've not seen those before and can't find them in your list of supplies.
What type of buffing pad are you using to remove the leftover pieces of tape?
Beautiful job!! Love your style of video editing so sick!!

Reminds me of the work of Woolly Made Wallets, Fantastic crafters too. They cut their wallets with lasers and handstitch them too.
So satisfying, brilliant craftsmanship 💓💓💓
A video on template creation would be nice
amazing job
What is that paper that protetcs the leather?
Any particular technique for edge dyeing after burnishing? I've tried it and it never worked for me, the paint didn't catch too well and clumped up towards the bevel.
Do you find you need to do anything about the soot in the holes? Or do you just ignore it and stitch away?
Watching you work is so dang relaxing. Thanks for another great video!
Эстетическое наслаждение!!!
Why is this so satisfying to watch
What are those round pad things you burnish the surface of the leather with called?
They are just called buffing pads from Tandy leather.
what kind of edge dye do you use? straight leather dye? or acrylic edge paint?
AWESOME MASCHINE ❣️ I want this 4 my Shop!
Amazing. I have been following Glowforge for years... such a compelling product for the creative world
Would your pattern on your site work directly on a glowforge or is it a printer only design?
Beautiful work🙌🏽
Epic craftsmanship!
This pleases me mightily.

It is an Absolute joy to watch you work! Karen Florida
What temperature did you set your glowforge on ?
What rotary knife is that you are using?
What are the white pads you used for cleaning?
How do you like the laser holes vs using traditional irons?
Hi, noticed the sand paper you used in the video looks like a dust free disc sandpaper. It’s not the same one you listed in your material list. Where can I purchase the one you used in the video? Thanks so much.
I don’t use a dust free paper. It’s regular sand paper at a higher grit. 600 or 1000
I am in love with your work
What was that hot knife/pin you used on the finishing of stitches?
What is the adhesive-backed paper you are using to protect the leather?
Link is in the description under tools and leather. 🙌🏼
Как же это эстетично и красиво выглядит.
Sweet! That laser looks like a lot of fun to use.
Silly Question…. Which video shows how to make the SD vertical wallet ????
Thanks man … I appreciate it !!!
Hello! I love your content but at what point does it become factory made? It feels like it’s headed in that direction
Nice work Little King! Can you please provide a link where to buy masking paper/tape? Thanks!
Link in the description under leather supplies. ✌🏼
me too please sir) thanks
Spectacular!
What type of leather was this? Chrome?
From start to finish how much time are you looking at for one wallet?

great work! thanks for sharing. how do you get clean stitches when you do laser cut? i find that inside of my pattern holes are burned and when i do the stitching my thread gets discolored and it doesnt look good.
Do you use Vegtan Leather? If not try using it. It chars a lot less.
I love this channel!
Why did you sand before you stitched the outside? Thanks!
beautiful work. great video.
What kind of leather is that? I heard glowforge cannot cut Chrome tann.
Good news, your discount code applies to UK (glow forge has now arrived for UK)
You make it look so easy
Love it.
Hey do you have a recommended site to purchase leather from
All of the information is listed below the video
how thick can the leather be to be able to cut patterns
Thanks for a great video. Please, what masking paper product do you use, and what is your source?
