Sea Fishing in Strong Winds

  • It’s a wild and windy night sea fishing scene but Graeme is out battling the elements again as he tries his new beach rig in conditions that are tricky. But luckily a few fish turn up to make the long drive worthwhile and he gets home just before the cold weather front moves in...Then, it’s off to Mike's Hampshire woodland for a bit of work with the chainsaw and hatchet before he has a cookup by the old Ash-built shed. Finally it’s over to Grant who runs through a few pointers discussing the different types of fishing lines and what they are used for...some interesting tips for beginners...Enjoy.

I've got the same Thermos. It's brilliant, I use it every day in the winter. I warm up soup or stew if there's one on at 6am and by about 1pm it's still piping hot so much so I have to leave it cool.
Downside the fold out spoon is a bit difficult clean.

Hey Graeme. Another thoroughly enjoyable and informative video sir. I've been lure fishing exclusively for a while now, and even catching a few over here in the wonderful chocolate Nesquick waters of the Bristol Channel, but whenever I watch your videos it makes me want to just bang some bait out, take it easy, and let 'em come to me. Especially this season when the bass are all offshore shagging somewhere and having no interest in chasing about after bits of expensive rubber. In fact, cold as it might be right now, I may well head down to the beach tonight and give some South Wales Dover Sole a bit of sore lip if they're up for a chomp on some old frozen squid. Take care Graeme, and thank you for not playing the guitar. Raymondo.

@@flamintasty Not sure how much thick line bothers fish. If you're tiddler snatching in a match lo-vis lines are handy, and I'm prepared to believe barbel can be line shy. Overall though, abrasion resistance and floating/sinking characteristics are more relevant to line choice. At one time anglers were told pike were line sensitive, and fished 9lb mono. Now we use 50-80lb braid!

I had been working all week and it was the only gap I could get..As for the TH-cam bucks you may be amazed and surprised that I have never taken a solitary single penny out of TH-cam...I certainly don't do it for the "bucks" . I'm fishing on a beach, not off a cliff top...

Some of my best sessions this year have been in strong winds, caught my biggest flounder (36cm) this year in 40mph winds a couple weeks back. Last week caught a 3lb pollock in similar winds, the fish don't give a toss. Layer up and get fishing when you can!
