  • For 40 years, it was the sound of the stop watch and Mike's voice that signaled the start of another edition of 60 Minutes. The broadcast pays tribute to a great reporter and colleague.

Mike Wallace. A key example why most TV news personalities today don’t belong on TV. And aren’t journalists. He was.

Oh please. It wa so much hypocrisy and bias then went unchallenged compared to now. Look at the hit piece of Arafat. Israel comes out looking like a angel ofcourse.
Im happy we past that. They were tp bold and sold us an iraq war for Israel defense and buisness contracts
      Really look at it.

In 1975 I was 5 yrs old & my parents would gather us around the TV for 60 Min every Sunday. I still watch it today but i truly miss Wallace, Safer, Bradley & Rooney. The show also took a Nosedive after the Great Producer Don Hewitt left.

I only regret not approaching him for a picture/autograph.

Mike Wallace was in the same league as the late Walter Cronkite, Peter Jennings, and Edward R. Murrow. In other words, Mike was a true legend in the news business. If you knew who Mike was and you heard his voice once, you knew when you were hearing none other than Mike Wallace. His character was beyond reproach. He will truly be missed.

Mike Wallace was also an advocate for depression research, and a great guy who answered his mail. I wrote him after I saw him on TV talking about depression. He wrote back, by hand, and also sent an autographed business card. Years ago, The Far Side comic strip parodied Mike Wallace interviewing the Devil. It was a joke, but if anyone could get an interview with Satan it would have been Mike Wallace. Thanks for everything. You left us way too soon.

Mike Wallace was brilliant! He could be the pitbull or compassionate. This is when 60 Minutes was worth watching. Sadly, we don't have a journalist that doesn't have their own agenda or narrative they want to public to consume and they go for contrived drama. They don't do the "homework" and present it to the public honestly.

The lower cased "joe" was not used to name anyone, but describe how Mike Wallace came across to the vast majority of his audience!

If only Mike Wallace were here today
He would just have a ball, a straight up field day with today’s politics

We're never gonna get another Mike Wallace again. Much like Babe Ruth, they broke the mold when they made him. I do like his son Chris Wallace though. He can be a twerp at times but most of the time he's a real journalist. And probably (definitely) the only part of Fox News that's worth watching.

I really think him losing the anchor job to Dan Rather was the symbiosis of his depression not Westmoreland because he knew he was right.

One of Mike Wallace stories is about a whistleblower against the Tobacco industry and I saw the interview it had a very public Black eye

Mike Wallace was one of the best, if not the best, journalist. There will never be another one like him. Sadly he wasn't so close to his son.

Mike was well spoken and could coax anything out of anyone, good reporter skills, hilarious that ms. Stiesan was offended by him, he was never intimidated by anyone, confidence is a good thing, he had it in spades

Remember when he was about 86 years old, he took a cab to buy some food, and when a cop got after the cab for being double parked Mike got into fisticuffs with the cop?
