Folks are always going on about the “this” that built America or the “that” that built America. I feel like I just saw what really built America. How about those people who know this, those wonderful people who work so hard to keep them looking fantastic and going in amazing good stead. Tremendous stuff! What a wonderful industrious country full of amazing creative people. Thanks Pete and feel better! Get some sleep, the best medicine!

      Yeah, right on.
These days we have fancier equipment but not the variety in district companies.
There just isn't the ability to start a new equipment manufacturing company.
Nor is there the guts to tackle major infrastructure building projects.
Back in the day they spent the money & put their blood, sweat, and tears into building for the future.
Railways, interstate highway system, bridges, lock+dam's.
Im still in awe on how they manage to build the Hoover Dam. Or how engineers designed all the intricate workings in machinery without CAD or computer modeling.
      They were definitely doer's.

One thing i find funny in north american psichology, specially usa, is also how everybody talking about the: colapse now; the end of; game changer; game over; shtf; fighting back, taking over, the dead of, new beginning...freedom fighting, salvation...its like apocalytic mentality!

The fascination with tractors is interesting. Clearly a common thing. My grandpa was a farmer and I was fortunate enough to do some work with him on his farm when I was a kid including driving tractors cultivating crops and cutting hay. So I get it to a certain extent. For me the fascination is boats. Boats of all kinds. Especially old ones. Another common interest. Glad you are feeling better Pete.

It is great to see those old tractors and equipment. I think it is sad when they are taken to the scrap yard or left out to rot into the ground. Hats off to those that take the time to restore them and keep them going. If it were not for them, those old works of art and engineering would all but be forgotten.

It’s a whole WORLD, so detailed and deep and amazing. Thank you for sharing it. Clearly, you are far from alone in your fondness and respect for older generations of working tractors and the people who built and used them. The drone footage showed the surprising scale of this event. To my eyes, these old machines are far more interesting and varied than automobiles. They did far more than cart people around. Some of the oldest ones reminded me of old locomotive steam engines.

Just being together with family enjoying the day with some of the best engineering of those days is a great event. Hard to believe that belts was the only way of transferring power. Some of those factories had belt running all over the place from one huge steam engine. The concrete floor would shake and rattle from this monster.

The Steam Traction Engines (we called them threshing machines) played a role for a brief period of time until the tractors really took off. My father/our family belonged to the Saginaw Valley Live Steam Association in Michigan. All my life in the summer we usually went to Lapeer or Imlay City Michigan with our Steam Engine (fueled with Wood which made white smoke or fueled with coal with black smoke and Soot!) Dad used wood as the flues did not get as dirty. Every year we shined and painted our engine up and watch as a lowboy tractor semi trailer came and got our engine to haul it off to the fairgrounds for a week end of fun. I sure miss those days.

This truly was an amazing show that you shared with us. Are used to take my father-in-law to the old thrashers steam engine in Mount Pleasant Iowa every year while he was still alive and it was quite a day for us. It always got a little hot and “steamy coach but it was such an honor to see especially the old restorations which were up and running…At high noon they would have a Calvacade of Power … from the small ninja into the largest and then behind the steam engines would come the work horses in the wagons that they pulled in so forth it took about two hours to see everything that came through the parade and not everybody did the parade. One section I really enjoyed was the 4H area where they were restoring crackers that belong to their grandparents or they found out in the field and they pulled it out, bringing it back to life which was such an honor and pleasure to see. They would have a notebook beside it from beginning to end and there were rules on what these young men and women could do in your restoration and I think the most important was how to maintain the original history and color, & If my memory serves me well, I believe the student was required to do all, ALL
The restoration work by themselves but it was pretty hard to believe that some of that quality of work truly was done only by the student.
A question I had as you were running your footage of similar very old steam engines was did they ever look that good when they were first purchased? Were those the original colors of some of those gray and red and green steam engine engines with the LARGE ROUNDED HUBS???
It truly was wonderful hearing the sounds of the different engines running..9 whether they were just a normal Size or riding on the back of a small wagon pulled by a miniature horse in the parade… You just don’t forget the sounds of those wonderful steam engines.
I have a picture of five farmers working on a field and it’s an all black and white. In the lead of this group of harvesters is my husband‘s Grandfather (also the town mayor), on one of the steam engines that had the bulldozer tracks… I did never really care for those, and then he was followed every so many feet and everybody taking the next row over, by four other men on tractors. One is His Father & then an Uncle is on one of the tractors. We could not identify the other two men but we assume they were nearby farmers or friends or both! It’s quite a historic photograph and one of my favorites from his grandfathers farm and life how it used to be which ... represented hell men would get together and help each other with the harvest is there a farm and then they move onto the next guys farm, making sure everybody’s crops got in before the weather changed.
I wouldn’t want to live that life again that’s for sure and I never really did live the steam engine life but far as powerful and beautiful as they were they were also very dirty and I didn’t like that part at all. My grandfather had an old steam engine and he used it for many years in my youth and then I have no clue what happened to it. Maybe it is in a local history Museum down in that county.
Thank you again Pete &Hillary for taking us on your trip. It was most enjoyable!! God bless you♥️♥️♥️

I also watch diesel creek who attemds a steam show i think in Pennsylvania, a wide variety there as well. It is amazing how much hp we think we need now compared to what some others have said, was needed to build this country with. You were right in your previous video, not everything has to be restored or renewed. I have seen some restoration projects where they put a protective coating over the patina instead of painting over it. So many ways to keep the old going from on display to fully functional. Thanks for a wonderful video. Hope you all had a blast, i know i had one watching.

My husband and I went to the Rantoul, IL, antique tractor show a couple years ago - looks very similar! The steam engines did plowing “demonstrations”. Took about 8-10 guys for some. Hundreds of tractors (if not thousands), your common to your rare; vendors, even some horse drawn demos for pre-tractor plowing. If you’re ever in the area it was pretty awesome! Only every two years - I think 2023 is the next one.

I could listen to that Murphy diesel in that Northwest shovel all day long. They just have a sweet sound.

Thank you for the tour, I love the drone footage, as always. I really enjoy the old machinery, and those restorations are unimaginable! This is our anniversary weekend, so I chose to skip the Pageant this time. I hope you’re feeling better very soon!

Great to see you have the same shows as we do here in the UK. Could watch another couple of hours of that. We have one at the end of the month. Always helps to have good weather. Thanks for the video. All the best 🇬🇧.

I love how wome of those 50s and 60s tractors look. Everything had that new age of the jet engine look about them.

I was thinking the same thing in my head about OSHA before you said it 🤣. Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Good way to break things up occasionally with the drone footage. Have a Bealy Good Day!
