Make it take phone calls and you would really be on to something.
Oh the irony
That’s called a phone 😂
@@joeysiposYeah but why not make it a phone lol i dont understand why we need two devices
@@Blackhearts60 Phones don't have the same hardware interface and they work on a different type of operating system which relies on apps.
Yes they're going in a great direction with the terminal mode so it can sit next to your computer and be a dedicated AI assistant
It would be really cool if the Rabbits could communicate with each other. Imagine you’re in a meeting, the rabbits in the meeting could communicate and make sure the transcription is right. They could also keep track of how others are doing on common tasks and have sort of a Slack channel that is accessible to the users.
I guess a smart phone will be able to do that , why using a rabbit ?
Wow what a crazy idea. Almost like a phone!
They could multiply like rabbits! LOL
You can use multi agents on LLM to do that.
th-cam.com/video/ScJ9dUGZ3ro/w-d-xo.html
lol man reinvents the pager. now with AI functionality lol
AI pagers. Finally, the future.
I wanted a pager so bad when I was a kid.
I always wanted a pager in a different color. It was always black! Now I have red. YEAH!!!
people who cant afford 199$ be like what a pager 😂
I can’t wait till they reinvent the brick phone with AI functionality
So... another device to carry around that could have just been an app.
Less, but less.
@@landspidei have to comment because youtube doesnt have a funny reply.
If this would be just an app i wouldn't even be closely interested. It seems they are really onto something here. It's the right thing to do. Smartphones will be replaced someday.
@@zaubermanninc4390 it is possible it will morph and might require a legacy breakaway...
you dont need another app, the fact is that apps are unnecessary if you have this, you dont have to get trapped by doom scroll
Ever use your phone for a two minute task and then wake up 45 minutes later wondering where you’ve been cuz you got sucked into the garbage void that lurks in our phones? Also perplexity for free for a year is $199 value. Def not gonna change the world as it is now but if you bought it you’re stoked.
and thats of course a fault of the phone ... ehm ...
No. I don't need to fill my pockets with extra stuff to manage my own time.

@@TheMinor7th Go buy another gadget and maybe you'll feel as cool as me.
I will hold my excitement until the R1 passes the Marques Brownlee test.
I'm pretty sure he went over one of these or a similar product. His phone was faster.
@@ion_q If I remember correctly, he did not have the full production product.
@@ion_qthe similar product is the humane ai pin which appears to be about 100 times worse than this
And it failed.
I just know for a fact this is going to be a go to device for doctors. R1 has to target doctors with a special R1 built with integration to their medical portal. Mainly the recording. They absolutely need to on top of a summary of the recording, a transcript.
There's an app for that
@@dg-ov4cf what app transcribes what you’re saying live and puts it in a medical portal? Im not aware of it. Regarding dictation, I just went to my orthopedist surgeon last week, he is 38 years old and he had these ancient recorders he had to bring close to his mouth and dictate, also needeed to dictate ponctuation. Phones are absolutely not the best form factor for these tasks, but I confess that the best form for this case is more like the humane pin.
Seems way, way better than Humane's device.
Yea I was thinking that
Way worse then my iPhone
@@andersbodin1551you enjoy your golden handcuffs.

Yes we are gadget starved! The privacy aspects of these ai gadgets is terrifying regardless of what they say. The sheer amount of information that is going to be shared/sold to governments/corporations and fed to AGI mind/models!!
Yeah, my phone can do most of this, if it can't then give it a couple of months.
*correction* _"my phone can do most of this and a thousand other things it can't..."_
You are not talking about your phone, you are talking about Apps. Yes THEY can do sections of those things at a time, not while you are driving(because you need to lookup and open the apps) but yes I guess you could install many different apps to do 90% of what was shown.
You would do it much slower, it would be much more uncomfortable, and it would be draining your smartphone.
Also, 200 hundreds for this device is pretty much free.
@@stevewall7044of course he is talking about apps. Computers work with code 😉. You think there is no code on this device? It cannot do anything without code either.
@@stevewall7044lol
@@stevewall7044 nope ... almost every smarphone on contract with a provider has lower initial costs besides that, once we have siri (iphone example) working as it should, you have all what a rabbit does and a gazillion of other features available .. and its a sure thing it will hit the market sooner than you think, most probably via software update ...
To be honest im a bit disappointed at the mcdonalds order, they should have emulated the drive through interaction or when you call a restaurant , so the R1 sends you the menu and then gives you time to chose, when ready you take your order, no need for clicks, only voice interaction. That would have been dope asf
I don't know why people keep saying this could have been an app.
The point is why even have a standard OS and downloading dozens of apps when this one thing can do it all.
Exactly , you can think of this as an app assistant/manager, its all about saving time, yeah a smart phone may be able to do all these thing, but you need to scroll through a bunch of apps, open them, then switch between them, while the rabbit will do this for you.
is it convenient to have another device to carry if the one you have already will do the same and more with better hardware ? ... and yes it could be an app ..for now. It will be part of the OS eventually. But I get the fact that it might be available now and on the phone, one has to wait for it to come.
The idea is to replace your smartphone over time.
I can't wait for it to become a reality.
siri, what's the weather was back in 2009 guys. what are we doin
i literally need one... i want to teach it my music DAW and be like "hey rabbit, make a hi hat loop at 190 bpm and add a synth track in g major"

I should teach it to use a tracker so I can say "hey rabbet, make me a filthy breakcore or speedcore track using samples of Boris Johnson "

Yes I can tell this product was a labor of love. They do look like they’re pushing a new industry forward.
A few issues, they’re talking about many future features, and the features they choose to highlight were worse versions of phone apps. Should have at least shown one feature that is available NOW that is better than a phone.
one day like in 100 years there will be a device like this but able to make calls too
So FN Funny!
I know it would be a big ask but I would like it to record for 8 hours straight and set up reminders for stuff. a conversation I had with my boss for example letting me know the deadline for a project. it does not need to store that recording only keep a live feed and update my schedule and stuff as stuff comes up.
Nope not yet. That's a huge ask
Literally all that I want from AI. I enjoy the rest, but ultimately just want a true assistant to keep me on track
This ^ if it could have some features like that, and then summarize for me, would make more people happy.
The new pendantAI thing is supposed to do that, but I honestly doubt it currently.
@@TheCaphits What’s the new new one called or is that an update that’s coming out to an existing hardware from pendantai?
The Rabbit R1 is going to be a smash hit imo because the team is humble and passionate. It comes down to the people building the thing, and these guys are all about building the simplest most awesome AI powered computer. Great stuff!
How did someone get this to market....
There is an incredible use case for this. It's cheap enough for someone to get alongside their phone and use this instead of always using your phone. I great work guys.
Poor lil fella. He's going to be so disappointed when he finds out smart phones are a thing.
Yet I thing some want to seperate Thier phone with Thier personal ai assistant. I see a use for this, especially for the future generations. For example the beginning of the rebirth of PC handhelds like the steam deck also seemed obsolete first when GDP and Aya Neo released Thier first models, that then later evolved to very usable widespread tech and I see the same for dedicated personal ai hardware as speerations could be needed especially when ai feels more humanlike after a while.
@@themasterofanalyticsandwie1342 The thing is, this AI assistant can probably be just put into an android phone.

Exactly why I’m so excited about this!
100% This. Sadly, our best attempt so far was the classic Hitchhikers Guide to Europe by Ken Welsh back in 80s. These days all we have is fake reviews on Tripadvisor. Makes me feel pretty Marvin for the future ;-(
Thanks, I'm glad I ordered 1 the first day.
I thought that’s whole point was being able to train the rabbit on various websites actions over the websites but seams like they are holding it back and might role out only for tasks not jobs and for applications which any has good ui or which has api to do automations.
I wish it had a touchscreen, could take phone calls and run android apps 😊
it has an on-screen keyboard. so you can type.
It would be really cool to receive mine when I was the first day of pre-order and they still haven't shipped it on April 24th. They should have been way more prepared first day of pre-order still waiting?
As a lower class person, I've never wished I could afford such an affordable gadget. I can't remember the last time I had $200 to spare. Would love one of these.
Thank you, David! Well clipped, well assembled
The fact that they took genuinely impressive agentic action and used it to order MacDonald's is so ironic. Why would you use something so incredibly powerful to do something so incontrovertibly dumb? This does not bode well.....
Can't wait ... I love it just for how cute and bright orange and retro it is... Functional and easy to navigate letting me interact with the world around me instead of just the digital space wins for me... I hope I'm not disappointed 😅
my advice to them:
- make the screen taller so you can see more
- make the aspect ratio wider so you can use a keyboard at the same time as viewing content
- use the increased vertical size to increase the battery and reduce overall thickness
- add a dedicated camera to the front and back so you don't have to rotate it
- have it run iOS or Android
- turn it into an app
😉

@@quanmedley6839 literally all of that can be a feature which apple and google are likely already adding to next version of iOS
The way people clap to basic Alexa/Siri functionalities 💀
I think (hope) they’re clapping about the speed of response which is more rare with ai right now
Yeah it’s the speed, it’s a dig at the Humane AI pin for being slow and inaccurate. It demonstrates it understands natural language and delivers results almost immediately that feels as intuitive as Siri. He jokes that the demo for getting the weather is equivalent to a Hello World function in programming. Then it’s made clear this is way more capable than Siri.
Alexa can't do any of this at that speed
@@djenntt Why is he doing hello world demonstrations? No company launches a computer and starts their presentation by showing it can run hello world
@@MaxSoutter I just asked for the weather from Google assistant on my tablet and it was nearly instantaneous
Personally I like the idea of a dedicated device, press one button and interact. No need to look at the device unless you want to. I didn't sign up within the ordering window, but I wouldn't be against getting one. If they keep going with the actions they could very well have something here.
Holy Smokes! Welcome to the future
1. Jesse Lyu, the speaker, is demonstrating the Rabbit R1 device and its features in a live unboxing demo.
2. He highlights the device's color, which he says is not accurately represented in his previous demos on Discord.
3. The device has a new user interface (UI) that is designed to fit alongside the analog screw wheel. The screw wheel has a nice click sound and resistance to it.
4. The device has numerous settings, including network settings for both serial and Wi-Fi connections.
5. Jesse demonstrates the device's ability to provide real-time information, such as the current weather in Los Angeles, using its 4G LTE connection.
6. He also shows how the new UI fits into the R1 phone factor, making it simple to scroll through information and return to the homepage.
7. Jesse mentions that they have worked hard on both the hardware and software to make the R1 the fastest and smartest device on the market.
8. He demonstrates the device's advanced reasoning capabilities by asking it who won the 2011 Formula 1 driver championship and who designed the winning car.
9. Jesse credits the new voice of the Rabbit, which was developed in collaboration with 11 Labs, as one of the device's standout features.
10. He also demonstrates the device's AI vision capabilities, which can identify objects and people in real-time.
11. Jesse mentions that they have made numerous improvements to the device over the past few months and that they are constantly learning and improving in the new AI domain.
12. He concludes by saying that the R1 is the fastest device on the market and that it has improved a lot in terms of its AI capabilities.
Am I simply an out-of-touch old man? What can this device accomplish that couldn't be achieved through smartphone software?
It has to simulate and automate GUI, which isn't possible on a standard smartphone because of security features
You’re not. Smartphone can and will do this. It’s good he got ahead software wise but didn’t need new hardware to do this.
You can easily have an App for that, that displays a simulated and automated GUI.
The logic for it can be in the backend via API and it just streams the GUI to you.
nothing
th-cam.com/video/ScJ9dUGZ3ro/w-d-xo.html
I love everything about Rabbit, except for the added burden of carrying another device in your pocket alongside your phone.
thanks a million Wes for this stuning Rabbit SUPERCUT!!! Cheers for Western Europe in Portugal by the Ocean. Antonio ;)
Surprised you gave no commentary? Didn’t know we could upload stuff like this. Thank you tho🎉
34:52 How the teach mode works. Is there a way to do it with agents ? Any tutorials ?
Does it feature "Teleport me to a remote tropical island"?
Then I'm in.
I am not sure if I missed it or he didn't talk about using headphones with the Rabbit. I think the headphone's microphone will help in not having to touch the device to operate it. For example, cooking, or washing the dishes with wet hands or driving. I think they missed the whole point. Or people who work on places where you are not allowed to hold a phone. Also, they should add like in Xioami - Xiaodu to be able to switch on the aircon.
The presentation should had been done in a fake kitchen while the guy is washing the dishes. Then you are covering a need. Or running on the treadmill, or knitting, or things when you can't use your hands.
Think robowash will be washing the dishes
Wow this is fantastic, I will sit the R1 in front of my work laptop and take a well deserved break. I can see it is really proficient of taking care of the most complex AI powered tasks, like ordering McDonalds.
What problem does it solve?
Having to few devices to carry around
Ever felt your other hand felt lonely while you held your phone in one hand?
This will solve that.
I don’t like that they’re still selling the ‘idea’ of what it will do in the future.
with this tool you can hack every network
having to manually interact with apps - this does it for you. the translate and computer vision features are pretty nifty too. the only problem is, apple and google WILL catch up to this with their assistants so soon, that you risk spending $200 on something that will be a paper weight within a year.
the dude is smart, he sold before releasing the product, preventive bankruptcy!
ordering from Mac took over 5 minutes, a thing you can do in < 1 min with a phone!
is that a good price for a paper weight?
We made the translation "non turned based." ok Raphael, your turn now....
What he means is that you do not have to manually tell it what language it currently has to translate, it auto detects the language, thus not making it a cumbersome turn based manual switching stress fest
30 years ago we had a black pager. Now we have a wonder red pager that can generate Mid-Journey images. The future is here!
Amazing. It's like a mobile phone but with limited functionality and a design that doesn't fit in your pocket. Given Microsoft just released Phi-3 3.8b, a model that will fit on existing mobile phones, what is the point of this again?
I'm so glad I cancalled my order and got my money back.
Congratulations. Good call.

He should add the ability to click buttons on the screen.
Thats the next step.
Oh wait…
These guys are feeding Apple with all the required features. I can tell you right now is the time to buy APPL shares guys.

can I install it in my phone?
Seems like a lot of work is done to support each app. Hard to say it’s worth it so far. But if it gets better maybe it’s worth it
Waiting for the R2 if/when it comes out. Could be amazing...
Can't wait to get this for my kids.
It has all of apple’s new Siri features. But these guys did a great job and the also have a competitor. I think it’s open interpreter.
Inference speed = Great, Form factor = great (playing to familiarity of handheld devices is super smart!), Thoughts = Let us input api endpoints to our own assistants! (i guess teach mode is a good start)
I woould rather have mini key fabs with each having its own purpose from camera, recorder to Office helper
What is the differences between this and siri, alexa, etc...?
Who makes the money.
There is no difference
Siri, Alexa etc are already conveniently on your phone. This thing costs extra
Siri and Alexa aren't GPTs. They use preprogrammed responses.
@@JonDoe-uq1mktrue, but I bet that is changing real fast.

It was a party
I think more like a clown at a kids party.
Still prefer that project where the guy built ChatGPT into to a 70s ring dial analog phone. That was cool af.
I still can't get past the fact that everyone who orders this is basically part of a giant botnet.
I'm waiting for MKBHD to slaughter this. They should have waited for the teach mode feature to be available release, that's the main feature
Can i connect a Bluetooth headset to rabbit.?
You have to train it
Looking at this guy roast the Humane pin, I feel like the Simpsons kid: “Stop! Stop! He’s already dead!” 😂 This is how you do this!
Can it run Google home ?
I think a real AI device OS will not require any manual settings. You should be able to ONLY talk to it, like: "Please enter terminal mode." And it gets it right away.
The one thing i was worried about was it not making phonecalls
