      EDC, many gun guys refuse to accept that the term doesn't include guns. The re-branding of EDC is like the re-branding of Geek. It is a great marketing term since pocket-jewelry doesn't have the same ring to it.

      Also, your intro skit/commercial was really well done. The editing/flow worked really well. And Lotion Holster sounds like a great name for a glam-rock cover band.

    JEREMY! I got you with that car fob key problem! Same issue with me, so I went on a hunt for a flip out key fob. found them on ebay from a USA store called extra-partss (with 2 s's). Super easy to program, comes with instructions, they have them for every car or truck. I went from a big car key and fob to a single unit, same size as the key fob, except the key is IN the fob. cheap as borscht too!

    I think the most underrated edc aspect is the system that you carry your items in. The pocket organisers are really good as I don’t think having things freely in your pocket mixed up is a good habit for edc. It may be my own background but I want to be able to deploy items as fast as possible and use muscle memory to know where they are... my edc is just fixed blade: front scout carry. And then a pouch(system) that carries a zippo, a leatherman, a AAA torch and a pen. The system has a profile suitable for a belt or pocket carry which I like. I think being able to comfortably carry your gear and reliably/swiftly deploy it is a major contributor as to whether you will carry it everyday, or if it is bought for the flex and more often than not gets left on the nightstand.

    I've had a keybar for about 6 years now and it's great. 2 keys and 2 tools (one is a seat belt cutter) with the magnet and my truck FOB. I love having a pair of scissors and having a victorinox, so I have a super tinker with custom copper scales. Love my setup. I also have a benchmade bugout with copper flytanium scales. I also have a bigideadesign fly the flag pen. Great vid

    I use 3 sets of keys: Vehicle with fob, House keys with fob, and the keys I need for one of my jobs, which is basically just an organized ring with keys and rings of keys and small stamped copper tabs. The last one is a handful, but I only carry it when I'm using it, and it still drops in a pocket cleanly.

    My EDC is made up of seventeen knives (Kershaw and SOG on the low end, Zero tolerance and Bench made on the other end) and seven handguns. (I live in an AWESOME state that trust’s it’s residents to carry both open and concealed without a permit. Although, I would say that 95% have a enhanced carry permit anyway.) Rotation is weekly and includes 25 watches.( Omega, Tag, Tissot, Oris, Gervril. Just to name a few brands).
    Cigars go between Cain(a fav), Oliva, Perdomo, anything A.J. Fernandez, La flour Dominica. In support of that hobby is a collection of ashtrays, cutters, punches and lighters.
    Some of my favorite Bourbons: Buffalo trace, Eagle rare, Weller(I know all made by the same distillery), Woodford reserve, Willet, Elijah Craig, Michters. The wife and I are also red wine snobs……LOL
    I’m retired, so, after my daily chores I like to relax………🥃

    I used to carry a PM2, good knife. I was at Gamestop one time and the clerk started trying to open a package with a tiny boxcutter and was struggling with it. I pulled out my knife and held it out for her to borrow (handle end pointed toward her of course) and she seemed taken aback and looked panicked. I didn't realize some people react so negatively to a pocketknife, I was just trying to help. On a side note I love compression locks too!

    Electric Daisy Carnival (edc) has been around since 1996 which attracts hundreds of thousands every year. It’s not a new thing that’s just came out. This is why I feel many may confuse which type of edc one is talking about. However the acronym edc was first used by the music festival. Only recently have people been making videos sharing their everyday carry.

  • @dylanvickers7953
    @dylanvickers7953 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Rumor I heard about EDC is that "Electric Daisy Carnival" was a super hippy ass name chose in the early 90's when it was a legit northern California tree-huggery hippy rave. Then in 1997 a different group bought the name and revived it as a fairly corporate rave. Now its like the Coachella of dance music. Over time, as the term "EDM" (meaning Electronic Dance Music) became a normal acronym used to separate this modern kind of music from the dated techo of the 90's, or the even more dated dance house music of the 80's as well as in the future to sepperate things like Dubstep in the early 2010's. After s point in the early/mid 2000's Electric Daisy Carnival changed its brand identity into "EDC" for marketing reasons and also because hippy culture had fallen out in favor of industrial and digital aesthetics but the name remained "daisy" because 1. branding, 2. paperwork/fees, 3. "electronic dance" and "carnival" are both generic terms, one of a genre of music the other of a type of event so they would have to make it more unique because an "electric dance carnival" is a generic idea like a "heavy metal concert" or "texas barbecue competition" both of these would need to be spice up like "Alice Cooper's Heavy metal concert" or "Houston County Barbecue Competition" in order to be trademarked. Basically it was more valuable to keep the "EDC" acronym than to change anything.

    One handed on the link is easier than people think. If needed use a bigger key ring. Press down with backside index finger on bottom of/through key ring while using thumb to press button. Your keys are now around your index.

    As for the key problem, i too hate having a wad of keys in my pocket. I bought one of the cheap quick connect key chains from Walmart, the one with a ring on each end. I put my truck key/fob on one side and all the other keys on the other. When i get in the truck in the morning i disconnect the wad of keys from the truck key and they go in my console. I have 1, yes ONE key in my pocket all day and that is my truck key.

    Nah Jeremy, you’re wrong. EDC as a daily carry term did not get popularized until maybe 6-8yrs ago tops as more of a survival term. Electric Daisy Carnival has been popular since at least 2010. As the biggest electronic music festival in the US, you can bet it’s more popular than a small niche in the knife and pocket tool community. EDC today doesn’t have the same survival connotation anymore, it’s more a convenience thing now. And even then, it’s not as popular as Electric Daisy Carnival. Especially now that Electric Daisy Carnival is a global thing.
    That said, EDC as in Everyday Carry is now more important to me than electronic music haha

    Hate to burst your bubble but Electric Daisy Carnvial started in '97. Well before Every Day Carry started as a trend. A bunch of hippies got together in the 90's and made a festival with a bunch of light up flowers, bugs, and animals. Thus electric daisies were born. Damn hippies.

    What might work for your car keys is to have them on a magnet disconnect. That way you can leave them at home if you won't be traveling by car. You can even drive without having the rest of your keys dangling from the steering wheel. I believe your buddy from Best Damn EDC uses something similar ;).

    EDC should be the initialism. Acronym needs to be able to pronounce, like laser. Abbreviation contains both initialism and acronym. FYI

    I remember back in college my edc was wallet, phone, keys, knife, pin and a note pad. A knife was kinda mandatory because i was in automotives and it was a necessity i used it everyday

    Love your videos...just subscribed. I’m not up on all the knife etiquette and never knew there was so much discussion about tip up vs tip down knife carry??? Still not sure about the whole thing but I guess the military carries tip down? My cheap Browning knife that I carry sometimes is only tip down so guess ill have to pickup something with a reversible clip.

    • @JeremySiers
      @JeremySiers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😂 normally I wear regular old Dickies. Keys, back right pocket(when they are on me), phone back left, wallet front right, knife in front right with wallet or in a small auxiliary pocket some Dickies have on the right side below the main pocket. Edc organizer with light, pen, and SAK, in front left. AirPods also usually in that pocket. Zippos changes from right to left depending on if the pants have a knife pocket.Varies a little depending on pants but that is basically the lay out. 😉👍🏻

    I enjoyed this video as well as your others. You have piqued my interest in whiskey and cigars, and you’ve also piqued my interest in not just having EDC gear, which I have, but nice EDC gear which I don’t have. Question: does that Hitch & Timber pocket organizer have a slot in the back for holding a small notebook like Field Notes or Rite In The Rain? Thanks!

    That sudden realisation when you pretty much have the same EDC as a guy across the pond, despite only just watching this video. Though I've got the 940 with brass Fly scales and the PM2 with titanium scales. Titanium and brass for life. Hey ho. Coincidence - plus I figure I've got good taste!

    hey man great channel. any way, about your keys situation. i have two key rings. one is with my car fob, mini swiss army knife, and a paracord ball "key chain" (i carry this everywhere). the other has all my other keys and gym membership card (this one i just leave in my car or throw in the locker when i am at the gym). You may have to go back to your car when you are at your door and realize you forgot your keys in the glove compartment every once in a while but it is a great trade off for not having bulky pockets.

    I watch a bunch of EDC videos, because they are just so fun to watch and TV just sucks anymore, although I wish EDC videos would show me HOW it is that they wear all this stuff that they say is their EDC. Some of the EDC videos I watch have so much stuff that I wonder how one would actually carry it all...and why carry like three knives (and such)? I personally carry my brass pen clipped in my right pocket, my i3T EOS flashlight clipped in my left pocket, my Leatherman Free 4 on my belt on my right hip in the nice carry case provided (that's my only knife except my Spiderco Lil Native I sometimes carry in the watch pocket when I don't carry my Leatherman), a thin leather money clip wallet I got from Cabela's, a cheap $20 watch from Cabelas that has indiglow and actually looks kinda cool but shows just what I need and isn't a boat anchor, minimal keys in right pocket, usb stick and wallet go in left front pocket, my phone I found a pouch at dollar store and clips to my belt over right front pocket area, Glock 43 apex carry right front, folded up napkin in left rear pocket which I replenish whenever I eat fast food because they give you way too many of them, right rear pocket is sometimes my phone (when not using pouch) and loose change. When I am at work I add neck band with FOB for access to all City buildings (I'm IT for City) and I have a big wad of keys hanging off of a D-Clip with paracord band I loop my belt thru and attaches to keys which also hang inside right front pocket (pushed more to the front with personal keys and pen oriented more towards back of right front pocket). This is what I have learned works very well for me. I would like to see EDC start showing HOW and wear they wear all the gear that is shown if you please. I am always looking for a better way to do things and realize my way is good for me but I'm sure not desirable for everyone else. Great video...thanks. Patina...Patina...Patina

    I love my alox cadet, wish it had scissors to trim my beard split ends. Nice EDC btw. Question. Why the para2 and not the para 3. Looking for my next knife and stuck on those 2

    • @JeremySiers
      @JeremySiers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are both great. The para 3 is a little small for what I prefer. It’s basically a slightly smaller pm2. I’d rather have the bigger pm2. Just personal preference, lots of folks rock the pm3. 😉👍🏻

    In my world EDC is “Extra Duty Compensation”...that’’s from the organization that loves acronyms so much that they created a three letter acronym for a three letter word. A POV (personally-owned vehicle) is a car.
