I liked the x159 so much I have ordered another one. I really like the size 8 nib.

As left handed person I am jealous of your handwriting. Thanks for the review

Mick, very nice review. Love this X. I'm hoping and I bet a lot of your subscribers are hoping as well, that you will soon give us a look at Mr. Lee's new Model 20.

A very good review. I agree with everything you said.
I have had one for a while and the nib was great straight out of the cellophane.
Now that they have in several colours with gold trimmings I will be buying another.
One quibble is that they only do fine nibs. I wish they would do a medium in the size 8. Buy for the value it is a very good pen.

It is true that perhaps the X159 should have had a different number. I think the intention was to say its bodies are the same dimensions. But, in reality everything she's to be different. The weight, the nib size, the adornments are all different. The material used for the body is vastly different.
Is it similar to the 149 by Montblanc? No. The construction, fit and finish of the 149 is light-years away the better of the two. Also the cartridge/converter of the X159 is no match to the piston filler of the 149.
That aside the X159 works very well. The nib is surprisingly smooth. And the price is extremely favorable.
You really cannot fairly compare the two.

I think it’s really great and the value proposition is unbeatable. For the price of two coffees, you get a big pen, a converter and postage. I have three on the way. I am so excited. I reckon I might just give away one or two of them to promote the hobby. It’s all about the ink for me.

Interesting! I have the purple 159 beside me with a Jowo broad nib, and I enjoy using it, but it's too heavy for long writing sessions. I had not heard of the x159, so I'll be looking for one of those now. Very well presented, thank you!

I have two of these. Both write great out of the box and feel great. New x159 is a bargain. Nib has a bit of bounce as well.

Thanks for video, helped me to decide if I would be purchasing the 159. They now have added more colors to the x159…I ordered 3 more. What type of paper is that?

Exactly what kind of cartridge converter is it?
Is it a standard international or 2.3mm bore?
Is it like the one that comes with the jinhao 599 'safari homage/clone'?
    Thanks

The Jinhaos take a standard international size cartridge or converter… but a Jinhao converter will not fit in all pens that take a Standard international as the design at the opening is somewhat unique to Jinhao.
