- Thousands of fans protested at the Oakland Coliseum for the A's 2024 season opener Thursday night, many fans say they won’t actually step inside the stadium. Velena Jones reports.

Wow, instead of selling out the stadium to show support for the team, demanding that they stay….Oakland fans boycott the game, showing MLB that they don’t support the team anymore.

@@SouthEastSD619 It’s not ownership you have to convince, it’s MLB. Boycotts show MLB that you don’t care. You can sell out the game, scream about how bad the owner is, have signs, have protests in the stands…but by selling out the stadium, you are showing MLB that you really care. That you want a team, and can support one.
this breaks my heart even though i'm not an A's fan but as a sports fan I think the team should be sold the bay area wouldn't be the same without them i remember when the A's and giants played in the world series of 1989 even though my giants lost that game that bay bridge series would not be the same SELL THE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!

I’m new to California, only been here 5 years from the east coast but where I work at people use to tell me 5 years ago that if you go to a A’s game you could sit almost anywhere you wanted because you literally could count on one or two hands how many people were there, they also said the A’s tickets were the cheapest…..So my question is “ Why are these fans protesting ESPECIALLY since they haven’t supported this team in over 5 years ?????
Five years ado the A’s were drawing close to 2million . But the Fisher’shave Jay dumb down and take away all the good young players, cheap as yarmulke wearing ass

I never lived in Oakland I was born in Sacramento California and as a child I will go to the A's and the San Francisco Giants games when money winning in a losing comes when a sale and move a franchise they never think about the people because right now the city of Oakland is in turmoil they're losing jobs crime rate is high I understand but when you take away the sports teams family needs to get out and enjoy themselves instead of listening to all the negativity that is on the news talking about the city Oakland Lego of the raiders Oakland let go of the the warriors now it's the A's the owners they don't care about the people they only care about their own business interests and nothing about the people even if Oakland stayed in the city they still wouldn't make enough money to support the team but if you did have a new stadium that will bring more people

The boycotting started when the ownership completely disassembled the team and then more than doubled the season ticket prices while taking away all of the benefits.

Fans should of supported their team. But they did not, so good bye! 👋 😂
They did get support when they had a competitive team and ownership that cared. When you constantly let good players go and let the ballpark fall in disrepair, it's tough to support these guys.
