    I love the "Leaf blower" car especially the chains that ae installed to hold the motor down onto the flat car. Well done!

      Thanks! It's the little things that bring a RR together. I'm not big on details because they are prone to breakage and disappearance when working in the great outdoors but the chains seemed a necessity to complete the illusion.

    Love the layout. Sure like to see it at night if you had lights around the layout. I could sit out there with a cold beer

    Needs a second or third loco on the rotary instead of your hand lol great railway, these kinds of clips are oddly satisfying!

    Brilliant!! I think this layout is my favorite out of the hundreds possibly even thousands I’ve seen on TH-cam!! It is very creative and appears to be the most fun to operate and watch!

      Thanks! I do like to have fun with the RR, using the trains to haul out weeds, bring vegetables and firewood to the house etc.. I also like to give my trains a purpose and make the videos tell a story instead of just going a round in circles. I'm glad you enjoy it. Happy RRing!

    I just noticed you have the train go under the house, that's awesome man.
    P.S. I'm also from the Cape, remember going to the Hyannis and West Barnstable stations as a kid to look at the trains, was so much fun.

    • @CapeCodTrainTodd
      @CapeCodTrainTodd  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Going under the house and through the crawl space just made sense. That is part of the original layout. Whenever I go to Hyannis I check out what is going on at the station. This year they have added several tracks to accommodate more trains and they have upgraded the track for the weekend Cape Flyer out of Boston.

    Now that is what I call a real "cool" video (In more ways than one) It was rally neat to see the snow on the ground and the trains working hard to clear the line. As always keep the videos coming and Merry Christmas to you.

  • @mcbenman1793

    This would be perfect for my railway, im in bergen and i have an SM32 scale railway, however, the snow quickly turns to ice so what ive had to do up till this point is boil water and pour it on the rails to melt the ice and then get an engine (live steam) to push the rest of the snow out the way.

    • @CapeCodTrainTodd
      @CapeCodTrainTodd  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is rare that we get the right kind of snow that my little trains can move and once it turns to ice, game over. I put together a shovel using a broom stick and a piece of azek, that is plastic trim that won't scratch the track like a metal shovel would. I slide this along the track and push the slush away to get the trains running again.

    Is good to see each one working. I just uploaded the snow fall we had hear and think I am looking at much bigger snow blower. The plow will definitely have problems.

    • @CapeCodTrainTodd
      @CapeCodTrainTodd  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just checked out a couple of your videos and you have a lot of track for good train action. How many feet? I also noticed a lot of your track is elevated which makes plowing with a wedge plow easier because the snow will fall of the edge. If the snow is heavy or icy it is best to use a shovel. My blower and rotary are fun but the wedge really works well.

    • @kendrawatkins8290
      @kendrawatkins8290 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      think there just under 2000 feet. Have still 300 feet to add yet. Is so easy to put trains on the track and is under a tree so there is the leaf problem, but get a good wind and is all blown away.

    Curious what mods you made on the long hood of the Alco? Cool layout!

    • @CapeCodTrainTodd
      @CapeCodTrainTodd  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The real Cape Cod Central RR had one that I tried to replicate. I chopped the nose, added a windshield, LEDs, added the hood on the top to indicate that it was repowered as the real one was and of course painted it. I also added Revolution control sound and battery. I'm glad you like it. It is one of my favorite engines.

    Sir I am eager to do an outdoor Track. Can you give me input on how hard is it to keep up the track and how do you clean it. Or does it matter? Any input would be great. Thanks

    • @CapeCodTrainTodd
      @CapeCodTrainTodd  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure. You should check out facebook "G scale trains" page, Garden Railways magazine and the online forum Large Scale Central for much more info than I can give you here. My advice is to keep it small to start until you learn the ropes. Being outdoors has many challenges. Track powered RR's like mine need clean rail to conduct electricity. Many people go with battery RC but that adds extra cost to every loco you own. There are many ways to clean track from the pricey LGB track cleaning engine about $400 to a cheap pole sander with a scotch brite pad. I have another video that shows my track cleaning train which I am presently doing a major custom upgrade to. Check out th-cam.com/video/2sgfc2Qdmh8/w-d-xo.html

    I'm just curious. You have beautiful rolling stock. Any reason you didn't replace the hook and loop couplers with knuckle couplers?

    • @CapeCodTrainTodd
      @CapeCodTrainTodd  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I like the hook and loops. They work and they are cheap. I don't mind how they look since my eyes tend to concentrate on the train and not what is holding it together.
