As a Finn im a bit concerned that there is no shower right next to the sauna :/ the floors are going to be wet from all the sweat dropping from you after a nice sauna. Can muratic acid be used on that steel to age it faster? I'm not sure about industry standards, but I used it on a DIY project. It worked great for rusting quickly and making me cough like crazy too, haha.
It is my understanding that Corten steel has a different chemical makeup than carbon steel and therefore allows it to rust. The rust in turn protects the metal underneath so it won’t rust through. No need for chemicals to speed up the rusting, water works just fine and I’m not sure, but adding acid may ruin what is a more expensive piece of steel.
Man stay away from muriatic if that happened. Standard for accelerated rusting is brine and brush it on. Make sure it's clean without any marking like grease pencils. Mix as much salt in as the water can carry,Month or two brushing that on and you're good.
