I can only say that I tried 🤨 we shall see if the akadama will work for the bellatulum. I am hoping that the drier surface of the terrarium grit will not cause any rot, which I was always afraid of with the sphagnum moss. The wind is gone, ... we now have a nice 19ºC today and drizzle rain, which is perfect. I am find with that! I hope for some clear skies tomorrow, though 😬 greedy much?!! Thank you meine liebe Freundin for taking the time to watch... leave an encouraging comment! I really appreciate it, very much! Wishing you a sunny day... surely, by now things have cleared up a little on your side of the peninsula!! 🙏🏼Enjoy your Wednesday... we are set for tomorrow, si? 🥰 Much love, vecina!! ❤️🌸
So sorry about your little stars 😥😥 I wonder if some rain got in? They have such tight spacing between the leaves and bulbs? I think if the rot has dried and can't travel further those two front bulbs will make a new lead for you 🤞🤞🤞🙂 But, like you say the plant itself is maybe a little suspicious... my little stars does great in LECA despite the fact that I have a nodosa hybrid that hated it for me. So I'm not great with them in general, but also, the 75% nodosa I do have rotted into bits and still keeps trying to make new leads. I still have the plant after a few years of torture, it's actually bouncing back. They're tough little things!
Hello gorgeous lady 🧜🏻♀️😍💐 It is possible that when I sprayed the edge of the pot some got to the base of the rhizome... I don't know because we have had enough humidity in the air, I don't remember the last time I misted the leca. 🤷🏼♀️ I never moved it from the ICU shelf it lives on... except for when I took it outside to film and then within 5 days all the leaves it had started to yellow from the base of the pseudobulb up, not from the top down. Clearly, it rotted from the bottom up. Almost 3 years of limping it along.... I only held on to it for so long, because I had dedicated to instagram followers back in the day. I wasn't on YT at the time, so, I felt an obligation to make it work. I had high hopes for the 2 growing points, but now... I would have tossed it, but, for the sake of the experiment, lets see what happens next. Slowly my orchids from Schwerter are all dying 😬 I was so surprised to see how clean the leca was... no root growth into the pot for 3 years... I am nuking that batch with bleach before I even boil it and include it into the rest of the prepped leca. I am going to look at another orchid that is in a similar state of doing nothing, since receiving it, and see what that is all about. Weather is really bad though, so I cannot film the process, I will wait until tomorrow, hopefully I will get a clear day. Also Schwerter and the 2 of them lived next to each other. I don't like to interfere with stressed orchids, but now, because of what I saw with the Little Stars, I think I need to look into the Jairak Kiss. I am glad to hear that your's is bouncing back. I was thinking that my set up was all wrong, and then I look at my cordatas, which are even more delicate about having roots in pots, and they adapted, slowly ... but they adapted and are doing fine. The mounted ones, dump their roots every once in a while, the potted ones, I can't tell, but they are looking fine. I don't know! Win some, loose some! I bit the bullet and placed another order with Floralia, getting more little ones in and a C. milleri, finally! I hate doing it, things are really bad here, but, there was one day that I felt a turmoil inside and went to the floralia list of '21 and placed and order... needless to say, in that order is a L. angereri
I think your path should be good now and continue to grow new roots. A few years ago I was able to rehabilitate a rootless path using almost the same method. I purchased it as a Seedling and when I went to repot it found it had no roots. I potted it up in semi- Hydro with Leica which worked very well in my environment. Of course I'm in the United States and My orchids grow indoors 9 months a year and go outside for our three beautiful months of Summer. Semi Hydro does not work well on a continual basis in my environment, so I have since repotted it into small bark and it's continuing to grow beautifully. Good luck with your rescues.
Hi Ceresta!! 🤗💐 so nice to see you again, thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leave this encouraging comment! Especially what you say about the paph! I am testing akadama in different situations and so far, I am liking how the media responds and the roots of other orchids are not protesting when they touch it, on those that I am using it at a surface media. In some cases, leca / SH is not conducive for some of my orchids either, .... Especially the slipper orchids. I have lost a few simply because of my flushing. The water stays in the leaf joints at the base even in the hot months of the year, so, yeah... I lost a few in that method. The ones I have left seem to have a much more robust base, because they are doing really well. Hope this little one agrees with the method, seeing as I singed momma plant! 🤨 Have yourself a wonderful day, Ceresta 🌸
Hi Esther! 🤗💐 I hope so too, for 3 years now, I have been hoping, so... right now, I am not holding my breath, but maybe, just maybe there will be a turn around now. We shall see! Thank you so very much for watching Esther ... have a wonderful day 🌸
Hi Nina, I would like to see a follow up for these two orchids, I am hoping that they will survive and grow lots of new roots, but we will see. Thanks Nina.
Andre!! 🤗💐 Hi! Oh, I am so hoping that I can give you positive news when the time comes! I have taken a screen shot of your update request for the Little Stars in approx July, and I can tell you that, if I am able to show her in July, that will be a massive achievement! I am trying to stay positive ... but the history with this one, yeah... I am really trying to stay positive! Thank you so much for watching, Andre!! Have a wonderful day 🌸
Hi Sandie 🤗💐 I hope so too, but... only because I like to think positively! My gut tells me, it is history! But.. for the sake of the experiment, I will keep it and see what happens next! 🤔 Thank. you so very much for watching, Sandie! I really appreciate your time... wishing you a wonderful Wednesday 🌸
Hi Tony!! 🤗💐 thank you so very much, .... I appreciate it... much needed! Thank you so very much for taking the time to watch. Wishing you a wonderful day 🌸
Hi Anne 🤗💐 I know, right?? 3 years... and it has come to this! 💆🏼♀️ Oh well... let's see what happens now. If it doesn't make it, I can at least say that, I tried my best and it was not good enough. I appreciate you taking the time to watch, Anne, thank you so very much! Have a wonderful day 🌸
What are the odd that your Brassovola would up and die so soon after you do an entire video dedicated her? A few months ago you gave me some advice about what to do with my brassavola that I cut from the oldest part of the rhizome. It’s still in moss in a tall vase covered with a ziplock bag. After all this time, I think I might be seeing a swollen node? 🤞 My paphs wouldn’t do anything until I put moss around their bases, right up to the leaves, so that the new emerging roots would have some moisture. Our species could be vastly different. Lots of good videos lately. I hope you’re having a great day 😃
Paige!! Hi!! 🥰💐 so good to see you again!! How have you and your pseudobulbs been?? 😅 I am glad that your's is responding!! I have not much hope for mine, seeing as it has just done zip for 3 years.... it has been very humid here the past 2 days, so I have taken the dome off, but if the air dries up, dome goes back on! I hope that I do not rot this little piece of paph... I was concerned that the moss would be way too much damp around that iddy biddy base. Considering how much I am going to have to water soon, so, yeah, I am gambling with the akadama and terrarium grit set up, but it is a bit drier around the little base, and I hope that my gamble pays off. If not... we will find out soon enough. Success will take longer to see (as per usual) 😅 I hope that you are doing well, Paige! Have been thinking of you ❤️ Thank you so much for dropping by 🌸
Crazy it went that fast but if it stayed wet it is amazing how fast they fall. So sorry good luck with the little bit you have left. Thanks for sharing.
Hi there! 🤗💐indeed, yes! And... how it got wet, or how on earth it stayed wet after the last misting, for sooooo long, beats me. I was not expecting that at all... I was not expecting it to take off like a rocket this season either, but this? Nope... came totally out of left field! I have no high hopes for what is left, but, I will watch and wait, and possibly, I won't have to wait long for an answer 😬I appreciate you coming over to have a look see! Thank you so very much 🌸
Hi Norman! 🤗💐 much needed!! I think it is a gonner, but I shall hold on until such a time that the last 2 leaves pop off! 3 years of no progress at all... 💆🏼♀️ it was not meant to be. If my favorite nursery ever gets one in, then I will replace it, but not from any other nursery. Thank you so very much for taking the time to watch! I really appreciate it.... wishing you a wonderful day 🌸
Hi Sherrii 😍💐 yes! That one... 'tis true, 'tis true! The amount of orchids I have lost from that order is insane 🙄 if there is a silver lining, I can vouch for the fact that I have learned a lot because of all that. One most important lesson was, never to buy anything from them ever again. No matter how good the quality is that I see in other unboxing videos. They have lost me as a customer, and as an advocate. While I have stopped saying their name, I will always show their tag if I am having difficulty with one of their orchids still in my collection. 🙃 so appreciate you watching this video! I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend already 🫶🏼❤️🌸
You've got a decent chance with the bellatulum but I'm always afraid of keeping paphs too wet or even damp.....they will always live longer dry than wet. The Brassavola looks like it has been wet and developed rot......I don't think that your chances with this one are very good....but you never know!!! Take care Nina, Ed.
Ed!! Hi!! 🤗💐 I have not been too successful with these tiny guys in sphagnum moss, and as we are going to be heading into warmer weather soon (I hope I have the timing right!) I was hoping that the drier surface of the terrarium grit will protect that iddy biddy base from rotting. Right now I have had days of almost 85% humidity as it was been very wet outside,... I just hope that I can do something that won't rot the base. The Little Stars... yep.... agree! It has been in recovery since I got it, a very meh plant from jump street 3 years ago, and I guess it just had enough. We shall see, for the sake of the experiment I am keeping it in ICU, but I should have tossed it a long time ago to be done with looking at it! If Grossräschener ever gets a Little Stars in their shop, then I will replace it, but not from any other nursery. Thank you, Ed, for taking the time to watch! I really appreciate it 🤗 Have a wonderful evening! 🌸
Hi Gabriele! 🤗💐 thank you!! I live in hope... 3 years limping along, maybe now it has had enough, but... as long as there is some green, I live in hope! I appreciate your kind comment, thank you! Have a wonderful day 🥰🌸
This happened to my David Sanders, needles to say I lost the orchid. Moving her was not the issue, you are dealing with brown rot stemming from the rhyzome. By the time you see the symptoms its already too late, I hope thats not the case for you, however, I dont think so. Best of luck.
Hello MrAlesoreus 🤗💐 thank you so much for sharing your observation! the rhizome was so small, I could not make out here or there what the issue was, all I saw was black and because of it's size, it felt hard, and not like brown rot would feel.... softish and oozing. You are right... now that I read brown rot, it clicks 👍🏼👍🏼 thank you! And... I agree, the 2 little leaves don't stand a chance! For the sake of the experiment, I will continue to see what happens, but, I don't see much hope. I sprayed some hydrogen peroxide today, just to try and be proactive, but, methinks, its too far gone! Thank you for taking the time to watch and for leaving your comment! It helps a lot! And I LOVE that doggy in your avatar!! He / She is so handsome / beautiful!! 🥰🌸
@@NinjaOrchids Hi Nina, it was my pleasure to be able to have a relevant comment to your struggles, unfortunately I had just gone through that a few months ago so it was quite fresh in my mind. Thank you for the comment on my Rottie, he was the center of my universe and the apple of my eye, a little bit of me went with him when I had to say goodbye. He's the reason I got into this hobby though, I was clearly distraught when it happened and one of my co-workers at the time went during her lunch hr and bought me a white phal in his honor. Till that day I had cultivated everything under the sun EXCEPT an orchid, needless to say I nearly killed the orchid a few times, but I was determined to keep his memory alive in this plant that I didnt know squat about. Several years, some 300+ orchids and here we are, Orions plant recovered, grew 2 keikis and he is getting ready to bloom. This plant is a fighter and has a strong loving character just like my buddy, it does his memory just right and every time it blooms I know my buddy is sending me slobbery rottie kisses. Stay warm and safe, thanks for the vids.
Oh.... 😨 I am so very sorry for your loss!! I lost my 14 year old companion, a little yorkie, Thierry Henry, November '20 ... he passed in my arms, peacefully, from old age. To this day I miss him so much and I think the massive void he left behind will never be filled! I was doing videos at the time and did not want to say anything on any video, but some friends knew what was happening because I left a copy and paste message on some of the comments on a video. 3 days before Thierry fell asleep for the last time, I did not leave his side and had to just let those who commented on a video know that there may not be videos for a few days because of end of life happening in my home. No one would have known, if these friends had not sent me a box of orchids to help me through and cheer me up. That of course had to be honored with a video to thank them for their generous gift and kind thoughts. The box was in the hallway for 24 hrs and I dreaded filming that uboxing... but I managed to make it work without loosing it! I am ever ever so sorry to hear of your Rottie not being with you, ... with the exception of that gorgeous phal! Kudos for you to dig into orchids and see it and your 300+ orchids thrive now! My current collection came about due to the passing of my son, and I lost my mind.... became a vegetable... until he laid it in my heart to start another collection, and in his honor, my C. maxima was one of the first to build this currently collection of 300+ orchids. Everytime I am working with the orchids, my son is so close and when the maxima blooms... yeah... that! I now have a Harlequin Dachshund, a christmas and bday gift from my daughter, his name is King. He does not fill Thierry's void... it's impossible. But this puppy also comes with a history because, just before my son passed away, he had actually made a down payment for a Harlequin Dachshund but that never happened for my son. So, King is special in his own right, but I miss my little friend Thierry Henry so very very much! I appreciate it so much that you took the time to share your story with me, so... here is my background story in a nutshell!! Much love to you and your orchids! ❤️
@@NinjaOrchidsYikes x 1000, thank you for sharing that with me and anyone who reads this. But most importantly, I'm truly saddened to hear about your losses. The loss of a human child by a parent ranks up there with the worst things that can possibly happen to a human being. Our fur babies tend to just fix everything when you walk through the door and that tail wags uncontrollably, there's always consolation in knowing that thanks to us they had the best life possible. How can I get a B. little stars to you?
.... .... .... I am sorry, for being a wimp, but,.... your kind comment, your compassion and being so understanding.... I have gone all weepy! To accept a Little Stars... .... what can I say? I don't want to say no, in case I offend such a heartfelt gift... if I say yes, then I really do not want to appear as though I am exploiting anything... I am at a loss, but... the fact that I am in Europe may solve the problem, due to the possible location that you are at 😬 I don't know what to say... but, could we say that it is the thought that counts so that there are absolutely no misunderstandings regarding my situation? Oh goodness, this is so hard!! 😅 when you have a moment, would you email me? ninjaorchids@gmail.com 🙏🏼🌸 thank you!
I hope your Brassavola little stars makes it. Maybe it’s just a weak orchid. Thanks for sharing. Also I hope your little Path. Makes it. I’ve lost a few to rust. Don’t understand how it got rust but it happened. It’s hard to get rid of this problem. 🤷♀️🥺
Hi Shirley 🤗💐 I think it definitely is a weak orchid, you are right! It wasn't ever the vigorous Little Stars that I see everyone else has, and the size of the leaves always made me a little suspicious, but... lets see if it has a chance. I doubt it, but time will tell. Rust? Like what the roses have? How very strange, indeed 🤨🤔 I lost paphs because I flushed to aggressively and got water into the leaf joints at the base, but couldn't tell until the leaves fell off... and that was during the warmer months of the year, when I thought the air would take care of anything and everything. I have not replaced those, because, if they are not conducive to how I want to grow my orchids, then it is a process of elimination, but yeah... I was surprised to loose those during the warm months of the year because of my flushing and getting water in base. But rust? I am so sorry to hear that! I appreciate your comment, and the best wishes for my Little Stars, thank you so very much! Have yourself a wonderful day 🥰🌸
@@NinjaOrchids Nina, I am not sure if I should have called it rust but it was a rust colored spots that when I wiped them with neem oil left my paper towel rusty. I guess I should ask the experts, or research it. Thanks 😊
@@shirleyholt898 I am soooo going to be on the look out if I ever see anything like that on my orchids. This is so unfortunate to hear about, but I appreciate a heads up to be vigilant about these kinds of possibilities 👍🏼🌸
Hi there! 🤗💐 indeed... sometimes, they just aren't happy to begin with and in 3 years, i could not make it happy either. The not roots... that is a big factor for me! The ones that grew, stopped growing.... for me, that is the sign of the F bomb! Even though I cannot see into the rhizome because it was all black. I think, F bomb! I have to now look at Jairak Kiss, because it also never moved in the right direction for 3 years... my Schwerter Orchids, are slowly leaving my collection. I know... everyone gets great plants from them, I was jinxed... my order was crap! 🙄 Thank you so much for taking the time to watch! Stay warm, stay cozy and have a wonderful day 🌸
@@NinjaOrchids seems like you took all the hit so that we others can have great orchids. 😔 I'm really sorry for that. I've got bad experiences from Karge, most have just dissolved (literally melted rhizomes) and some had clear virus marks and others just got eaten by a black rot.
@@tropicalplantsfinland oh wow!! I dont remember if I ever bought from Karge... I think I am confusing them with Koch... but wow, that is horrible! I am sorry you can relate to what I am / have experienced with Schwerter ... not good, not something I would wish on anyone! 🙁
Hi Michelle! 🥰💐 oh... that is sad! Well, I will be joining the club soon... I feel it! 3 years of it limping along ... Little Stars club, unite 🙃 Thank you very much for taking the time to watch... I wish you a wonderful day, Michelle 🌸
I seriously doubt Little Stars collapse was caused by moving it for filming it. There was definitely something wrong with the plant and I wouldn't be surprised if it was F given the utter lack of root growth. I admire your effort to keep it going but, not knowing when exactly this was filmed, I'm wondering if it is still with us. Whatever was in there surely had reached those last two growths. The good news, you've got much more chance the Paph will pull through but you and I will only be able to eat cream of wheat by the time that reaches blooming size. 🤣 They just aren't in any hurry to do anything.
Don Miguel 🥰💐 Hola!! this video was filmed 5 days ago, so approx 10 days after filming. Within 5 days of moving it outside for the CareCollab filming, the leaves yellowed at the base of the pseudobulb and came off super easy. It is a Schwerter orchid which really has been doing 'nothing' since it's arrival and I would have ditched it a long time ago, but for the fact that I dedicated it to instagram followers way before I was doing videos. One by one, my Schwerter collection is reducing in numbers 🤪 yay Schwerter!! It is still with us, in the plastic bottle, and I agree, those last 2 growths, there isn't any energy in them to kick start something else. For the sake of the experiment, I will wait and see what it does next. The rhizome ... couldn't see anything because it was just all black. Cream of wheat 😂😂 the paph is an experiment for the akadama.... no more sphagnum, if it goes, it goes... I am a little 'done' with the struggling orchids. I have one more from the Schwerter row, to address, now that I have seen Little Stars, I am going to address Jairak Kiss, because if it is a similar situation, no root growth for 3 years, then we know where that will be headed 🤨 I need to empty a tonic bottle just in case!! Oh!! I don't drink tonic without gin! Well.... I need to prep then, won't I?? 😂 rainy day today, I have all day to empty a tonic bottle .... hic!! The things we do for our orchids, sacrifices sacrifices! 🤪I hope the weather clear for tomorrow, I really need to get somethings done, but cannot address them and film then under the current conditions. It is great for the outdoor orchids now though! Drizzling rain, misty, wet, but 19ºC... I like it like that, but for filming, it sucks! I have a spare bedroom that I would like to convert into a studio, but we usually have a summer guest come over who uses that room and all his things are in there. The cooties stopped that from happening in 2020, I don't know about this year, but... it would be a great place to set up. We do get a little something / month for him to be here, so I am not ready to give that up just yet. Missed out on that last year. Which was in actual fact, much needed! 😒 and here she is buying orchids from Brazil... I hear ya! I ramble! Where was the gin? 🤔🤣 thank you so much for your observations! For watching! Have yourself a wonderful day ❤️🌸

But.. for the sake of the experiment, I will keep it and see what happens next! 🤔 Thank. you so very much for watching, Sandie! I really appreciate your time... wishing you a wonderful Wednesday 🌸
Sending good vibes to the plant
Hi Tony!! 🤗💐 thank you so very much, .... I appreciate it... much needed! Thank you so very much for taking the time to watch. Wishing you a wonderful day 🌸
Oh, sorry about Little Stars, but the paph should pull through, hopefully !
Have a wonderful day 🌸
Beautiful 👌👍 LK ❤️ stay connected 🙏🤝🔔
Thank you so much, Yashoda!! I really appreciate it 😘 have a wonderful day! ❤️🌸
Thank you so very much 🌸
Hello. How to replant baby orchids is a good idea. Thank you for good information. Have a nice day~~^^♥
HI!! 🤗💐 thank YOU very much for watching and your kind comment!! Have a wonderful day as well 🙌🏼🌸
oh my, good luck with that last trouble-maker :)
I really appreciate it.... wishing you a wonderful day 🌸
OH NO! Isn't(wasn't) the Little Stars one of the Schwerter trouble makers?😭
Take care Nina,
Ed.
Ed!! 🌸
@@NinjaOrchids I watch all of your videos Nina....although I don't always comment......I will in future!!!
Ed.
Fingers crossed for this little one!🤞
Sometimes they just go down. I've had my share of these kind of orchids. But yes, that's odd there's no roots.
I tossed mine last month. Bumpers
Have yourself a wonderful day ❤️🌸
@@NinjaOrchids busy morning, so much watering to do. Been getting warm so things are drying out faster than they have been. Imagine my surprise when I picked up my maybe Miltonia Sunset and there is a spike pushing on the immature growth. Please, oh please, actually be a Miltonia Sunset. I know it isn't your cup of tea, but they're so hard to find here and I think it is a beauty. If it isn't a Miltonia Sunset, well, 🤬 🤬 🤬.
I'll be watching for an update on Jairak Kiss.
Feeling pooped? 😅 Oh... trust me! Looking forward to a spike and hoping for the right bloom to come out, I have been there and done that! And regardless which orchid it is... I will keep my fingers crossed that you have the Sunset! 🤞🏼I am sitting in the dark at my desk, and wafts of the Crestwood fragrance keep coming my way! She is so intense now, it is as if I have the patio door open during the warm days when the jasmine outside is blooming... I keep forgetting that it is the Crestwood, always takes me a few to realize that it is her, because I am sitting with the door closed and the jasmine is not in bloom! This is a treat! I really want to keep on sitting here and doing stuff just to enjoy the fragrance. I could not film for 2 days, so.... am working on Cousin IT images for my shop. 'Popular' demand.... and a great time to be doing this... Crestwood!! 👃🏼🙌🏼
