This has to be my favourite 5e Campaign book since Tales from the Yawning Portal, and one of my all time favourite Campaign Books across all of D&D since the beginning.

Running multiple groups of players and having members from each group already asking questions on when and how I will be implementing different products into our games has been a challenge. Not every group wants to finished the main module an, in essence, start over the following September. Products like this are exactly what we needed.
Thank You Chris Perkins for reaching out to writers and than taking the time to polish their work. Well Done.
This is a concept I had in mind for years. A library is the perfect place for a sequence of adventures where the scenery, story - basically everything can change from one moment to the next, as adventurers step from one room / hall to the next. Will give it a go - see how it compares to what I had in mind.

Just seeing the map of Candlekeep brings back so many memories of playing Baldur's Gate with my dad. And each adventure is based off of a book in the library? I'm definitely saving up for this one! (Hopefully there aren't any doppelgangers in the basement this time!)
It would be so cool if there was some nods to the story of baldurs gate with bhaalspawn and sarovak, considering the hero was raised in candlekeep

If I remember correctly there is a bit of historical precedent for the practice you mentioned of the library requiring a book donation to gain access the library with the real-world historical "library" of Alexandria in Egypt. At various points in the history of the institution there the leadership of the city would require that any ships coming through the port and I think possibly also any ground trade caravans coming through would be required to turn over any texts they had on their ships or on their persons or in the cargo to the institution to be copied by the scribes there. I believe they would be returned after being copied (but its possible they actually confiscated the originals - that part I can't remember for sure). At any rate, as opposed to Candlekeep, the practice in Alexandria wasn't optional per se - in that visitors would be questioned and their belongings actually searched for texts (at the time which would have been scrolls or potentially clay tablets as well - as this was really before the existence of traditional books as we know them) and the works would be essentially confiscated involuntarily if people didn't offer them up readily - though again I think they were returned after being copied. But this was a significant part of how the institution there in Alexandria amassed the enormous/varied/wide ranging in terms of topics etc collection that they were able to put together.
At any rate, I just thought it would be neat to anecdotally mention the kinda/sorta connection to Candlekeep...

This looks kind of ideal. Seems like the perfect vehicle for my return to D&D after a long time away. So nice to see Mr. Perkins again.

at this point i'd even take a rotating cast for each adventure.
each adventure could have it's own cast and only last for as long as is needed. real episodic.

We needed another anthology series because Tales from the Yawning Portal,. while still a great book, requires quite a bit of adjustment as they are conversions from previous editions and some elements were not really thought through thoroughly.
I'll preorder this book tomorrow if perkins announces more dice camera action... I mean I still will regardless.. but I need more DCA!
