Acquisitions inc is what got me into D&D
Its amazing how far they have come
If I had to guess, I'd say it's a huge reason out for so popular.
I remember I use to listen to the regular podcast, and than they put out the dnd podcast. I was like "what are these losers doing?". But I changed my mind by the end of the first episode.
I still remember playing munchkin with friends in my freshman year of high school, then we got the idea to play D&D after I introduced them to Acq Inc.
Same here! I watched the first live episode and just got into it and here I am running Acq Inc games!
Acq Inc is referenced in Skyrim. There's a tattered journal in a mine closer to Whiterun? I think? Embershard maybe. There's a skeleton in a dead end and the book references "bronze bottoms" and bemoans a Nord going off his drink.

There is a reference to Jim Darkmagic in Dungeon of the mad mage

Being from New Hamp-shire, I have to say the Darkmagic legacy is a hard one to live up to. But we do our best here in our cozy green corner of the realm.

He is. He's doing project T.O.R.C.H with ShadyPenguin, natewantstobatle, mica burton, and Evelyn. The normally do the show before AI, episode 1 was on the same stage as pax last time.

"Chet Awesomelaser" wasn't Mike's original name idea. It was Scott making a joke about how ludicrous the name "Jim Darkmagic" was before we all just got used to it.
Yep. I had my arms folded and was shaking my head as I read this. For shame!
Also, Mike's first role wasnt a nat 20. It was a 19 with a +1 on a perception check.

Chris has successfully pavloved me in calming down when I hear his voice, making me ready for his storytelling and extensive world-building.

Wasn't Omin Dran originally a cleric of Avandra? "Luck Favors the Bold" being the phrase that made him decide on that.

Landon Omni lost touch with Avandra when the campaign went into the forgotten realms and chose tymora who is similar to his old god. I believe this happened when they came to waterdeep for the first time for those who don’t know. But I believe Chris forgot the name of omins original god
I thought it was something like that.
She was the goddess of commerce wherever they originally started.
He was a cleric of Avandra, but not because of the luck line. Trade was in Avandra's portfolio, and he liked the idea of the adventuring company as a business.
The New Hampshire dark magic manor was actually the first live D&D show I ever saw. I was crying laughing
I must have re-watched the whole series a dozen plus times. Never gets old.
That Waldorf and Statler moment was one of my favourite moments from AcqInc. Also on making the world your own. In my Storm Kings Giants game they had to hire an Airship (so we hired from AcqInc one) to get the gold from the end. The players had a Guy who acted like a talent agent/ manager. He took cuts and everything. He would offloaded goods they Acquired and got them things they wanted through questionable means. Played in a very business like way. Added to the flavour influenced by Chris’s games.
I recently started re-listening to AcqInc from the beginning! Such a fun adventure, esp listening/watching the evolution of the story, series, shows, and characters.
On a related note: Chris Perkins' voice is so soothing. He should narrate everything ever.
20:25 : Its funny Chris mentions having to find cursed items and "Sorry, you gotta do your job." In MrRhexx's recent vids on artifacts, it made realize there is great potential for a SCP Foundation like organization within the context of DnD/Forgotten Realms. You go around collecting dangerous items and creatures to keep locked away or the entire planet/crystal sphere/multiverse may be destroyed. "Whats that? Someone in Turmish found a statue from Thay that slowly turns everyone into zombies? Oh well, looks like you're vacationing in Turmish now. Get going!"

The Harpers would do that. One of their chief beliefs is to stop the centralazation of power and the use of power for evil, evil magic and etc.

I relistened to the first two podcasts when I got my first tattoo and AcqInc hooked me into my lifelong friends. It's such an important shaper of my life and I'll always be grateful.
Just started watching Acquisitions Incorporated thanks to chris perkins and i like it!
I played late 70s, 80s and 90s (D&D, AD&D, 2nd Edition’). Lost my group due to life happening... introduced some people to 2E, in the 2000s, never played 3E-4E, happened upon Acq Inc and the Wafflecrew, and Nerdarchy several years ago... Watched a lot of games just to get a feel for the new generation of the game. Rebooted my collection of books since.
Only show I paid money to see an episode (X-mas special)...totally worth it. Thanks for the endless hours of laughing!

@@drsch The C Team players are super funny and creative people. It's Jerry's (as much as I love the guy) weird deep-RP high-concept DM style that makes the show less entertaining. He's always taking them into ephemeral dreamscapes and realms of thought and shit.
I always liked the idea that other characters were coming in as sort of a contractor to perform a specific set of duties and then melting into the background until needed again.
I loved Acquisition inc. helmed by Chris so much. I still rewatching the old ones to this day and don't plan on stopping! Thanks to everyone who made these gems possible.
It was the best hey day of any game podcast.
Love this acq inc is what got me into dnd like 9 years ago and ive made some of the best friends because of it.. will always love these guys for being so funny and awesome and telling great stories!

Currently running an Acq Inc campaign on a "modified" Eberron with potential for realm hopping at the higher levels. BTW Omin Dran and the city of Sharn are a match made in the 9th level of hell lol.
I always wonder about the winged monstrosity that flew up past the beholder mech when the crew tunneled down into the Underdark.

I bought Aq Inc on a whim. It ended up being one of my favorite purchases.
Speaking of threads that didn't go anywhere... didn't the Aeofel character return as Zhentarim "Kylo Ren" and stab Viari in the back? Did he ever show up again after that?
If I remember correctly, it weren´t Zhentarim, but Dran guys...although Chris always said "Zentharim" by accident. But no, he never showed up again sadly.
He never showed up again, but was there as a Dran Enterprises "Specialist" mercenary when they raided Isohedrous for the Rod of 7 Parts. He might be running around butt ass naked in the fey wilds or back working at the orphanage he came from... could he be a secret Beestinger child??

My understanding was that Aeofel ended up being one of The Six; the group of pseudo-villains who banded together after being wronged by AcqInc
no, he was a Dran Enterprises Independent Contractor. he didn't show back up after that incident

That also means Jim, Omin, and Viari all live ine the Baldurs Gate game setting also(i know whe have met Minsc in one episode), would love to make a Acq Inc campaign in the new BG3 game if we get a dm function similar to Divine Divinity!

In the early 90s we had a group name. The Meandering Mosey Men.
I'm using a loose adaptation of AI in my campaign. It's basically a bunch of different adventures (starting with LMoP) stitched together, and the party members are part of AI, which I've re-worked as a regular Adventurer's Guild instead of a business/company.
I've asked before but could we get some more information on baernaloths? I'm especially interested in how different kinds of evils view them and vice versa. For instance would asmodeus consider them as overhyped lesser being. Or as elders to be worried about? If a bloodwar battle was going on and a baernaloth showed up, would it get ignored or would the armies split to let it pas. Like kids playing in the street when a car approaches.

Mixed feelings. Great that they are talking about Acquisitions Inc, but not a mention about the C Team and their place in the organization. Odd for me because I see so much of the lore in the book to be C Team centric.
Maybe room for an episode of its own?
Yeah, this kinda bummed me out. I see The "C" team greatly expands on the world.
Really, the less we have to hear about the c team the better. I don't mind at all.
C-Team is really the baby of Jerry Holkins.
In general though the genesis of what AqInc evolved into though is the legacy of the terrible contract Jerry and Mike got into in the early 2000’s when they “sold” penny-arcade.

The funniest thing that ever happened in one of my games that was supposed to be serious was my character looking at his partner and saying "So... do you wanna tell them I did it while I leave town, or should I tell them you did it while you leave town?" Thoughtful, anxious looks were exchanged around the table, then suddenly we all started laughing

Basically because Nentir Vale was no longer supported so AI wasn't going to get to play with all the new toys without extra legwork.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of Acquisitions Incorporated being considered "lore." I'd really rather they just stay in the "parody" genre.
Maybe it could be set up that the shows are a parody of itself, with the "real" Acq Inc being a greedy as hell but still vaguely heroic organization.
This is basically unlistenable for me. The audio is clipping so hard. Turn the gain down. You have such nice equipment and you're making garbage with it.
