    That javelina footage was amazing! Yeah, they come into Tucson. So do LOTS of coyotes, and the occasional mountain lion. Right in town. They come in via the washes. And washes are everywhere. Also tons of bunny rabbits breed in town. That's the prey they are after in town. Where I live, which is very urban, if you go out for an early morning walk, you will see an unbelievable number of bunny rabbits.

    Thanks for this great video! I'd be happy to pitch my tent at any of those campsites. I hadn't heard of javelinas before, but I have seen peccaries at the zoo here. Some campsites in this part of the world (Australia) won't allow the use of petrol or diesel powered generators because of the noise they make. Nevertheless, that granite mountain scenery is probably worth a few inconveniences.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most here thankfully have hours they aren't allowed and there ARE a few campgrounds that don't allow them (or have designated no generator zones) so it's possible to avoid the noise if simply tent camping and looking for a peaceful escape. 😄

    We've never run into javelina in the wild, but I always wanted to see some until last year when I was in Tucson and I saw a news report on someone who was attacked by them. They even killed one of the woman's dogs. Now, I'm good with not running into them. The campground was great though. That lake is amazing.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not uncommon to see javelinas up where we live wandering the washes in the neighborhood actually. We've been encountered them when out walking around. In addition to them knocking over trash cans one night and rooting up succulents in the yard. They usually will leave you alone unless there's babies nearby but yeah, they certainly can attack if provoked. Pesky critters for the most part. 😄

    Well Glenn you found Another wonderful place. I'd be spending day's there. So much to look at & enjoy. Oh PLEASE tell me there was a NO NOISE Ordinance after 8 or 9. Generators Drive me nuts & have actually had a Park Ranger with the Help of other Campers shut down a generator Twice then they were asked to leave. The Ranger said they hated to kick people out butt when 4 Families Tired Aggravated & Standing together at 12 AM, 1 AM & 2 AM, the Ranger really had no choice Especially when we walked him over to the Campers with the generator & Unplugged it. The idjit came barreling out of his camper yelling UNTIL he seen ALL of us standing behind the Ranger at 2 AM. Needless to say NONE of US moved Until he packed up & Left as we all Clapped & Waived Goodbye.
    Was there Any signs informing campers of the javelina's? They do look just like Wild Boars.
    Ahhhh yes nothing better than leftovers. Keep it up Amy we NEED y'all to keep showing us these Wonderful Places. Summer is going to be a bad one this year & after seeing those javelina's think the Garmin inreach is sounding better & better.

      Your story is insane! I'm not sure how polite I'd have been if at 2am that nose was still going on. Tents don't have any soundproofing... I'd be going nuts. 😮

    • @tpseeker3367

      Yeah that was a rough start to the weekend@@CactusAtlas. Sad thing is we watched & heard the other campers complaining & we Really tried to be nice at first after 10. 11 rolled around & I was the first to ask them to turn it off, then an older guy kinda yelled at them few times Then a Mother followed by her husband almost got into it with the karen. I talked to the old guy & we talked to the family & agreed to go to the Ranger after 2 other families went & they followed us to the Ranger as well.
      Think the Ranger was more pissed he had to go unlock the gate to let them out. We could tell they knew each other from the tude we got from the Ranger. After that everyone slept in & had a Great Weekend & the Ranger stayed away from our loop the whole weekend. None of us knew each other either butt came together & had a potluck dinner Sunday night.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for this! Two questions. Are there rattlers likely in those beautiful rocks during the day? I mean, would it be dangerous to poke around between them? Also, would this book up on the weekend? When did you come?

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rattlers typically hide out during the heat of the day but I'm not sure I'd go poking around too carelessly just to be safe. 😅 As for booking, weekends are usually more popular but looking right now it appears there's availability in the next couple weekends but is mostly booked.
