The Answer is that we need something super sophisticated and elegant. BB is elegant and sophisticated I admit it. IOS my mother can use it with no problem. I myself surprised for saying that as I am a big android user.
Kevin - oh my God. You are the absolute King of reviewers. I left my Blackberry days behind after my great run with the Blackberry Bold 9000. I always loved the crackberry community and particularly your reviews and editorials. Blackberry 10 OS and the Q10 have me about to give Blackberry another go (still using my Galaxy Nexus from the Play store though!), and I just saw your review after so long without them...I'm in awe. Phil, Jerry, I love them to death. But you are in a league of your own.
Now I'm the advocate for this BlackBerry phone and I'm loving the keyboard. Went from a galaxy s4 to an iphone 5 to the q10. The only thing I don't like is screen size and not enough apps. Other than that I hate to say but I'm liking it. Nobody wanted this phone so I got stuck with it cuz I'm the new guy lol
You know as an android fan boy ice only heard stupid ammounts of negatives about the new bb10 os. But honestly now when i see the crack berry team talk about i get stupidly interested in the phone enough to drop my htc one and try out a bb q10
Started out with two Z10's when they first came out in 2013 both had software issues then went to the Q10 and nothing changed. Currently using an IPhone 5 and thinking of going back to BlackBerry as it's been a year and QNX should be more refined with updates.
I have already tried this phone, and it is indeed a great device with a great balance between the touch screen and the physical keyboard offering the same great functionality and features of the wonderful BB10 OS ....but I already own the Z10 and I must say that I really like and I don't think that I would go back to a phone with a QWERTY physical keyboard. The crazy thing is that, my phone carrier charges $650 dollars (if you buy it full price, no contract) for the Q10!
i just switched from a Casio flip phone to the q10. I have a Galaxy SII and hate it. the Casio was ok, but my q10 i've only had it for less than 10 hours and i'm in love. i'll say that this phone is catered toward the executive (business) sector.
Thanks! I've been thinking of moving over to BlackBerry for a number of reasons (not the least of which being sick of virtual QWERTYs as opposed to real keys). I was a little concerned with the cosmetic step back compared to the more attractive Bold 9930, but you've eased my fears on how that translated to the device's utility and functionality.
I have had my BB 9930 for over a year now...I like it a lot. The Q10 will be my next Blackberry. It is very nice. But it may be a few years cause the 9930 is great
The back cover is actually a glass-weave and soft touch coating that has been in development for years. The forming of the glass into a 3D shape, coupled with the soft touch coating makes it incredibly strong....so it may look cheap, but it's far from it :-)
Well where I live it is out already. It has been on sale for about a week now. You maybe right that in a course of months the price will go down, but for now it is selling well from what I can gather. I tried to get my hands on another new demo at all large carriers we have in addition to the electronics stores, Future Shop, Best Buy, The Source (used to be RadioShack), Circuit City and nothing...they were sold out...this is in Canada by the way. The Q10 runs BB10. 2.
Awesome review!!!! But I have a question, how is the battery life???? Right now I have an Iphone4s but the battery life is so poor I am seriously considering getting this phone. I have read that the Q10 did outstanding job in that department.
I wanted the q10. But I hated how when waking up the phone the first thing you see is the recent "active" app screen. And not just a simple clean clock and a couple apps like previous os. I had the 9000 and I absolutely love it! Both hardware and software. Exception of that grease trap track ball that tends to not scroll or yellowing.
I'm really liking your videos, and the reviews/info on your site, keep it up! I do want to let you know that your audio is a bit out of whack on some of the vids(this one included), such that the intro is MUCH louder than the audio of the actual content. Seems like it should be a pretty easy fix, just wanted to let you know.
coming from Andriod (s3), bbq10 is an amazing phone. great os, multitasking is awesome the hub is genius and everything is integrated well. battery last much longer than my s3. keyboard is also a win, would get a z10 if your not a physical qwerty fan just for the awesome b10 os!
i usually buy phones with big hd screens but when i saw the q10 i instantly tell in lobe with bos operating sytem 10.1 and the fluent quickness i cant say anything bar about this phone had a dream blackberry was king i woke many years later and what do you know there still king
you are entitled to your opinion, however blackberry is doing really well considering what happened the last few years. The q10 and z10 are definatly up to par with iphone 5 and samsung s3. Everyone I know that owns q10 and z10 love them, I personally have iphone 5, bb z10 and s3. I use my z10 most.
That was an excellent review. My Q10 has smaller icons on the home page 5 per row. Is it possible to get the larger icons 4 per row like yours? I am also missing the auto on and off. It was nice to have the ability to pre set on and off times for the sleep mode. And finally does your Q 10 have the old blue LED activate when your phone syncs with a blue tooth device. Thanks.
I thought for a while that blackberry was the under dog for the wrong reasons. I now know that they are there for a good reason; after upgrading to the Galaxy S4 Iv left and forgotten about my Z10 and I will never look bad. Blackberry just cant compete with the bigger and better phones.
This is a solid phone. When I saw this phone in flesh and played with it I was totally sold.I got a z10. I am looking for excuses to get this. But also want to keep my z10.lol
I love my Blackberry - had the Curve previously. I know have a Q10 and love it, but i cant find the app for AMAZON MP3 - it would take me less than 1 minute to look up a song and download to my music. please let me know where to find?
I am a Blackberry user for some years now and I love my phone,it's a Curve 8520. I wanted to upgrade to Q10 but it's extremely expensive where I live(a small european country)...the average income per month here is 150-200 US Dollars...and the Q10 black costs 700 US Dollars...the Z10 is 150 dollars more ! I think this is why people don't buy Blackberry's anymore...
i agree with making the screen bigger, however if they moved the keyboard lower, it would be more difficult to hold while typing.. think about it. you'd be holding the phone right at the end to type.
Although apps on the AppStore are just amazing. I recommend to have a blackberry and an iPad so you don't miss all those great apps. Phones are for talking and chatting. iPhone is made for much more but that's just out of our regular communication needs, a phone must be a phone, a camera a camera and a pc a pc.
Looks like a really great device. I would love to try one. I'm just not sure if it'll be able to gain as much market share as it needs to to be competitive with WP8, Android, and IOS. It saddens me, because these really are exquisite devices.
Looks hard to get used to but you'd look like such a badass just stopping and swiping all over the place and accurate.. Been with android for 2 years and it's rarely that smooth and definitely not consistent
I bought this phone from tmobile, I remember paying cash for it to. It was 578 just a little over six hundred with tax and a incipio frequency phone cover. That was a deal then, because the launch price I believe it was more like eight hundred.
I was a blackberry user but not now my experience with curve 8520 is so bad lag and slow booting . I want to try this q10 to see if the os 10 better or not
Actually im more enjoying use Blackberry qwerty for texting than android. It's best for typing & copy paste more easy faster. Until now im still use blackberry, unfortunately so many bad experienced ( superb lag, hang, self restarted, etc ). I have planing will be upgrade to OS 10 & hopefully more better than my old Blackberry :D
Keep in mind that berry is the ONLY smartphone guaranteed to accept your corporate exchange e-mail and still run the phone's capabilities at 100%. The restrictions of the exchange e-mail will make the S3 unrecognizable by your laptop if you plug it in and depending on your server's restrictions, the Iphone might have the same problem.
lolz..yes and no,we are talking about what effects colors can have on things :P just so that you know, White ones are usually prettier and black ones are faster and bigger in some sense :P
The only company that I know of, to make in offer to acquire BB is Fairfax Financial. And that offer goes through as of November 4th this year, but until then BB may receive and/or accept other offers. But again I haven't heard of any other offers being made other than Fairfax's offer of 4.7 billion.
Instagram is only available on BlackBerry 10 if you sideload the Android app. Since its an Android app it'll only work on BB10 or PlayBook, not older BlackBerry.
i am planning to buy blackberry Q10 .....and in january i am moving to new zeland can you please tell me its worth buying it or should is move to another company ......main focus is to use in new zeland
I think they could have made the screen a small bit bigger by getting rid of the blackberry logo on the top and moving the keyboard down, there is a lot of room getting taken up by those.
at first i was q10 all the way, but reading reviews about the z10 ppl are saying the keyboard is really good. wanted real keyboard cuz mine gets deadzones on some keys... the z10 looks tempting tho, but the q10 is sooooooo smooth
Just to clarify, you mentioned 1080p video..but it's a 720x720 square screen. Does that mean the onscreen preview when you're recording is actually a cropped image?
1 question? when your blackberry jams and you take it back to the dealer and they give you a new 1.. where does the jammed 1 go? i think they try to fix it and re sell it.. so what did the rest of the world profit?
yeah i know that just dont want to have to side load them i just want to go to the app store type in less say good voice or instgram or poynt and they be there. so i moved to android but still blackberry z10 is amazing
Why did RIM develop the OS10 that runs independent of BES which was a unique selling point? As a bold user for years,I can understand RIM's approach to this phone however leaving out key functions like the back button/call buttons/ was a little annoying for me.Perhaps that is the problem with fellow BB users who want minimal upgrades with the same packaging.I upgraded to the q10 as my 9900 was lagging with minimal apps.BB is a niche market phone and the least RIM could do is listen to their users
yeah. read an article a few days ago. $250.. some carriers will probably price it at 199.. but still BB is reaching. trying to make a comeback, with what I think are two solid smartphones with an innovative UI, shouldn't feel like they're just reaching for our pockets. but im getting the z10 coming from Galaxy S1
Yes, he has a sideloaded app. Sideloaded means it's choppy, laggy, not optimized, not native and in most cases illegal to use and open to lawsuits. Lawsuits have already started from some Android and iOS developers, probably won't be too long before BBRY is forced to disable sideloading completely.
Is this phone worth getting nowadays? Or should I go for Passport? (I know they are quite different... but just wondering) I tried BB Classic, but I didnt like it that much.. Was a bit laggish at times...
Do you have to open the menu and then delete? Can you use other keyboard shortcuts (I don't think you can because they were not listed in 10.1 release notes) like I for filing, J and K for next in thread, ALT+ [] for various shortcuts to folders, etc.. Can we still do those?
how is watching video/movie on the Q10...currently on Z10, loving the huge screen... itching for the Q10 but does it do well in video/movie? obviously won't be right to compare to Z10, but is it good enough at least for little video/movie?
I'm getting this bc I had to return the best phone I ever held in my hand the Blackberry Passport. I use sprint, I tried Tmoble but no service here, and I will give up cell phones all together before I go to AT&T, when are they going to open these phones up so MORE people who want these phones and feel like anything else is a 2nd choice, can get a phone they like, Blackberry is loosing money from people by limiting the service
I hope the frets on the Q10 keyboard does not change color like on the 9900 That was something that sicked me a lot. Every 6 months I needed to replace the 9900 keyboard because those metalic color frets use to get stained to black
I really like blackberry, it's a shame that they just can't get the sales they want and are really in trouble.. even with the launch of the Z10 and Q10 :(
I hate the fact that their are no convenience buttons.....i still have a 8520 to be able to play my music or record without going into the menu is awesome.....n i can personalize the outer housing color.....i love color
Still have had this phone come out first I was Big bb fan I was 4 year user just like to say bb10 is best os I used but lack of apps made me head to Android I had a blackberry 8330 and a Blackberry 8530 n z10 but if u get z10 q10 u will be happy
I like blackberry phones but the thing Is their App Store, they're a lil bit outdated, which is stopping me from getting one. Nowadays, everyone uses Instagram, voice assistants, gaming so I don't know. What do you think guys?
What does it signify when all available options are disabled? When I attempt to utilize a line other than the GSM provider from where I purchased the phone, the phone refuses and the network is inactive. What is your recommendation?
It's 2019 now but still I been really like the bbos10 I know it's not only me wanted that nostalgic OS
Surprise!! I am using a Bb 9220 and Q10 and i bought them for 15 $ lol
So I went from Blackberry to Android, now I want go from Android to Blackberry.
same here lol
The Answer is that we need something super sophisticated and elegant. BB is elegant and sophisticated I admit it. IOS my mother can use it with no problem. I myself surprised for saying that as I am a big android user.
Hhla8485 But most people don't have BB like they did 3 years ago

blackberry good for communicate, it can get a notification very fast, i think it's makes blackberry better than other smartphone,

Dylan Johnson ikr. My blackberry curve 9220 laaaaaggggggsss. XD
Started out with two Z10's when they first came out in 2013 both had software issues then went to the Q10 and nothing changed. Currently using an IPhone 5 and thinking of going back to BlackBerry as it's been a year and QNX should be more refined with updates.

This model has an screen reader like Z30? This native application is amazing... 4 years ahead of other systems!
Gustavo Ulloa
yes it has
also the small Q5 does
I wanted the q10. But I hated how when waking up the phone the first thing you see is the recent "active" app screen. And not just a simple clean clock and a couple apps like previous os. Always wondered why the top bezel(ear piece/camera) looks really long. Looks like 1inch of space that could have been used for screen.

This is full BB10 Skype as it is integrated into the hub.
Good signs it will be available at Q10 launch and will 10.1 up on Z10
you are entitled to your opinion, however blackberry is doing really well considering what happened the last few years. The q10 and z10 are definatly up to par with iphone 5 and samsung s3. Everyone I know that owns q10 and z10 love them, I personally have iphone 5, bb z10 and s3. I use my z10 most.
Nice phone. The z10 was nice but you can't beat the traditional keyboard of old. That coupled with the new operating system makes this a must have.
That was an excellent review. My Q10 has smaller icons on the home page 5 per row. Is it possible to get the larger icons 4 per row like yours? I am also missing the auto on and off. Streaming video and web browsing will be amazing BB10 has one of the best browsers out right now.
Apart from the phone, I really love the videography. Awesome job CB :)
This is a solid phone. When I saw this phone in flesh and played with it I was totally sold.I got a z10. I am looking for excuses to get this. But also want to keep my z10.lol

Looks like a really great device. I would love to try one. I'm just not sure if it'll be able to gain as much market share as it needs to to be competitive with WP8, Android, and IOS. It saddens me, because these really are exquisite devices.
WANT! Love the small things, like the scrolling at 11:40
First 9 mins into the video: looks promising! Heading to AT&T to check it out today
Mind explaining how? For those that are apprehensive about switching from a powerful phone such as the iPhone to Blackberry?
Looks hard to get used to but you'd look like such a badass just stopping and swiping all over the place and accurate.. Been with android for 2 years and it's rarely that smooth and definitely not consistent

of course the Q10 is the best
Thanks for the explanation video. Quiet, clear, easy, nice! Thanks. Keep up the awesome work Crackberry.

got it some days ago and it's just amazing.
Just switched from Blackberry Z10 to iPhone. My quality of life has become 100x better.

It has viber! I bought the Q10 today and I downloaded viber!! it works great
i am planning to buy blackberry Q10 .....and in january i am moving to new zeland can you please tell me its worth buying it or should is move to another company ......main focus is to use in new zeland
You will want to buy it before you come as mobile companys don't sell Q10 but do sell z10 and q5
which is better? the white or the black?? any suggestions?
I have the z10, but I'm getting this later on this year!!!
BB10 got the best HTML5 score known to man, ahead of mobile Safari by about 100 scores in fact. And yes, it's smooth.
just got my Q10, best phone i have ever owned, beats the iphone and the s4 hands down
I think they could have made the screen a small bit bigger by getting rid of the blackberry logo on the top and moving the keyboard down, there is a lot of room getting taken up by those.
The BB10 browser is amazing. I have a Z10, and the browser kicks the ass of Safari on iPhone.
at first i was q10 all the way, but reading reviews about the z10 ppl are saying the keyboard is really good. wanted real keyboard cuz mine gets deadzones on some keys... the z10 looks tempting tho, but the q10 is sooooooo smooth
yeah, it's a good idea by blackberry. they're trying to regenerate interesting in BBM. BBM is actually quite a good app..would be sad to see it die.
I'm waiting for the Q5, btw is it true BBM will be free??
Just to clarify, you mentioned 1080p video..but it's a 720x720 square screen.
Does that mean the onscreen preview when you're recording is actually a cropped image?
Thanks x the video., I am waiting x Sprint to get this phone x ever., any release date yet?
When is the successor to the Q10 coming out or wont BB be a company for that long?
With so many apps open, I'm just curious to know how long the battery will last?
My new phone, can't wait to have it!
There are lots on ebay almost new .People selling them like crazy thinking BB will sink soon. Good time to buy this phone.
1 question? when your blackberry jams and you take it back to the dealer and they give you a new 1.. where does the jammed 1 go? i think they try to fix it and re sell it.. so what did the rest of the world profit?
yeah i know that just dont want to have to side load them i just want to go to the app store type in less say good voice or instgram or poynt and they be there. so i moved to android but still blackberry z10 is amazing
that depends on what country you're in (canada,usa,uae,brazil,japan,china,90% of europe and also 30-40% of middleeast/asia have it now on carriers
Gaming is not lacking on the platform. You can use bluetooth controllers and the HDMI out. Lots of emulators. Most big titles are there save a few.
(I know they are quite different... but just wondering)
I tried BB Classic, but I didnt like it that much.. Was a bit laggish at times...
+ilythia It's the same specs as Classic, so "a bit laggish" should be the deal.
I'm really torn between this phone and the S4. Any suggestions?
I'm getting this bc I had to return the best phone I ever held in my hand the Blackberry Passport. I use sprint, I tried Tmoble but no service here, and I will give up cell phones all together before I go to AT&T, when are they going to open these phones up so MORE people who want these phones and feel like anything else is a 2nd choice, can get a phone they like, Blackberry is loosing money from people by limiting the service
just for reference the iPhone 5 (16GB) is priced at $700 for their factory unlocked, and it doesn't even come with a physical keyboard
This made me make up my mind, thank you! 4S to Q10 for me!
I can't wait for this badboy!
Should I leave my iPhone 5 for this guys? I'm a app focused user and I miss using a physical keyboard
wonderful. great job blackberry
I hope the frets on the Q10 keyboard does not change color like on the 9900
That was something that sicked me a lot. Every 6 months I needed to replace the 9900 keyboard because those metalic color frets use to get stained to black
Miss my old Blackberry Curve but love my iPhone 4S. I miss blackberry a interface but still love my iPhone. Lol I wish I could have both
I really like blackberry, it's a shame that they just can't get the sales they want and are really in trouble.. even with the launch of the Z10 and Q10 :(
