I will always prefer and enjoy a video like this more than any review focused video. Context is so helpful and better. Love the format and your song. I know this is about gear, but your voice is the key to the whole operation, haha.
Wow. I find the MPC very constraining, workflow wise. And you master it. Kudos. My dream is you giving us an MPC masterclass with non-hip-hop tunes. Wonderful job.
As I see it the modern MPC has more facilities available on it than many pro studios used to have in the 60s and 70s. For me at this point its more or less an entire studio in a box.
I’m come back to your video again looking for inspiration. Your tutorial was on creating emotions for your song and your processes of choosing instruments to express it. The joy on your face makes my smile. I know in another video you mentioned you are taking a well deserved break. Brother I look forward to your return; however take your time so you and us get the best of you. Thank you
Excuse me kind sir: Limit is 8 "audio" tracks and 8 plugins. You still can chop and load vocal "samples" into 128 pads and layout 128 tracks of vocals per sequence into 128 sequences (with Memory/CPU limitations of course). I will defend MPC, I love it to death and your's looks beautiful! Great video!
I really loved your layering and learned a lot from your techniques to expand the stereo field and your workflow. Thanks so much for this breakdown! I use the Akai Force, but a lot of this applies to that device as well. Awesome job and congrats on making such a great song!
Thanks so much for sharing your workflow with us. I've learned a few things from you that will help with my own workflow. Great song by the way. All the best
There are some inspired production choices here that I may have to use in future productions. 👏🏾 And since Nov. 2023, I've bought a Novation Circuit (very fun and intuitive), a Polyend Play Plus (and sold it - buggy and overpriced), then an MPC One+, which has become my favorite of the 3. Only had the One+ for less than a month, but I'm already dying for an MPC X; I'm trying so hard not to fall victim to GAS but man, it sure is tempting, LOL. Keep up the good work.
Excellent video first of all. This is my first time seeing any of your videos. So you recorded your instruments into the MPCX, and your vocals into Ableton- And you did your final tracks and editing in Ableton?
Exactly! That workflow has been very fluid for me so far. I feel that I can’t really comp my vocal tracks on mpc, so it makes more sense to do that on ableton. I’m hoping to grab a push3 soon to compare the workflow. Thanks for watching!!
I'm a new subscriber, from Paris. I like a lot, a lot, your channel: I just watched the video on the Moog Subsequent 25; and now, two and a half years later I see you with the Subsequent 37. Am I wrong? I missed videos that I should have watched or "You're like all the rest!". Business after all? Hope i'm wrong!!
Wow! Really nice music, instruments, layers, soundscapes! Congrats! I only think the vocals were too much everywhere on the music kind of shadowing the rich soundscape and not well blended. If treated like you treated the individual layers here and there would emphasize it and the textures more!
This is excellent feedback my friend, I appreciate it🤟🏻 will definitely give the vocal mix some love😉 thank you so much for watching and hope to see you soon!!
I have a weird question as well. Would you in your studio run two MPC x ? How will it be beneficial running to at the same time? Is a better off to get other equipment instead of having two and just only having one thanks for your time.
I think it wouldn’t add much to have two running. I’ve sometimes considered adding an MPC Live 2 so I can take my projects out with me out of the studio though. I’m having a blast running MPC X alongside Push 3 though👍🏼
You do know that it's better to control the Poly Brute and Sub37 via midi and have the audio on their own channels on the mixer leaving the MPC to deal with mainly drums. That's the original MPC workflow
Interesting!!, i have been struggling lately with the thought of perhaps making a song, in the traditional sense with verses , chorus etc , outside a daw is pointless … I want to do it with my octatrack but ableton is just so good at showing the whole arrangement on a single timeline
@@MidlifeSynthesist The Album Leaf - one of my favourite bands from US, post-rock, electronic. Try 2007 album "Into the Blue Again". Vibes from vocal and lyrics mostly.
Are the lyrics based upon a past failed relationship? Or were they based on a argument in a Walmart car park with current partner when you realised you’d forgotten to return the trolley and she “turned around and walked away from me” in disgust at your trolley management skills?
2:03 dude every hip hop/RnB track in the 'aughts" used that kick/snare combo. Shows you are new to groove/rhythm based music...so called " urban music". Your first time hearing it is Billie Eilish 😅
Dude, since when does getting inspired by an artists way of using an instrument mean it’s the first time you’re hearing it? I got inspired by Max Richters use of Cello this week, doesn’t mean it’s the first time I’m hearing of a cello😂🤦🏻♂️
I'm already broke! - WHY do you guys TEASE me like this?!? lol - Thank God I had the good sense to melt down all my creadit cards, too! l'll just watch you program YOURS! - If that's OK?!? 🙂
Lyrics: I can almost taste his skin and lips so close...?????? Who did you write those lyrics for...? It is tight but a Lil weird..😮😮😊 hope you wrote this for a woman...lol lol Good Job!
lol, the lyrics are “I can almost taste YOUR skin” 😂 that way whatever gender the listener is, they can fill in the blanks 😉 thanks so much for watching 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I'm not an expert musician, but this song is kind of flat, cord changes are weak to nonexistent. Reverbs and delays and EQ are not enough to create a good song.
Don’t you think you’re being a little bit too judgmental. I mean this brother is like many of us with this type of equipment are hobbyists and weekend music warriors. Give this guy a break !!!

Nice track. I enjoyed it. Those violin samples really added a nice texture and energy throughout. Good job

Great work man! Love this kind of break down including your effects and techniques on the MPC. Those vocals and completed track are dope!!!
Thank you my friend!! See you next year🙌🏻🙌🏻

Vraiment très sympa cette musique,il y à un petit côté peter Gabriel.👍
Sounds very Peter Gabriel good piece.

How about a soulful guitar or synth solo in there at the post-bridge? It doesn't have to be flashy, but it should do some build-up.
The bassy bridge is good

You gotta give some kind of credit to someone who has the balls, to be so upfront, as to tell you that a phrase in their song sounds "Hans Zimmery".

Indeed. He puts himself at risk showing his process. And the final product. May not be at your taste, but don't be rude.
So I went and checked out your channel, and I think you meant to post this comment to yourself, not here.
Wow. You actually spent time showing us all how miserable you are....
