Met Nipsey Russell back in '87 in New York City. I was in the Coast Guard taking Navigation classes at Governor's Island for a couple of weeks. We were staying in the same building and didn't know it. A Coastie buddy and I were in the elevator when suddenly the doors opened and there was Mr. Russell. My bud and I looked at each other as if to say, "Naw, it can't be!" He smiled and said "That's right, I'm who you think I am."
First time watching a clip of this man and he’s great. Disarms the crowd with his opening joke then hits um with a joke that will make u laugh but then think about what your laughing about.
The viciousness of mind and the brilliancy of heart Nipsey Russell.
I grew up with Nipsey Russell. He was always so delightful with his poetry.
